The part that always makes me laugh the most every time I see this is Ben just randomly throwing dozens of dice off to the side without counting a single one of them.
Maybe he didn't need to
yeah, its likely one of those situations where the number of dice is so high that even if he somehow got all 1s on every dice he would still have enough moves to score a win
I think they skip the part when ben counting all the dice 2:10
Why would he count them? Do you even Cone bro?
He's got lots of options, but he only needed one.
Excessively confident Ben is my favorite Ben.
you're a smart guy, clearly picked up a few flashy tricks..😏
Excessively nerdy Ben is my favorite Ben
Ben is my favourite Ben
Excessively Ben is Ben.
Here, here!! Lol 🥂
Everybody thinks Andy is all sweet and loveable, but the man jumped immediately to looting. I respect that.
I mean... it's common practice to loot an area after you've taken over it...
The company is his now, he can do what he wants.
April rubbed off on him
You can’t loot what you own
Always remember, first you pillage, THEN you burn.
Can't be a coincidence Ben's about the cones and the calzones

I love how Andy laughs at the alchemist joke then shakes his head at the camera because he has no idea what they’re talking about
0:55 for reference
I missed that-great detail.
Lmao and then when Ben explains why the joke makes no sense, you can see Andy giving a slight nod/shrug like "yeah that's true"
Actually he was shaking his head at the camera because he knew she was wrong. Ben just corrected her before Andy had a chance to. That's why Andy nods right after Ben corrects her.
Take note Big Bang Theory. This is how you portray a nerd.
@@thegoldenpolarbear5936 damn right.
Ben is streets ahead
@@ralphmacchiato3761 I just chortled
you mean the misogynistic and socially inept versions of Charlie Harper (sheen) masquerading as “nerds” on TBBT?
it’s also a tired old trope that nerds don’t have sex, considering there are female nerds too.
I’ve hated TBBT for some time now because they actually hate nerds and only think of them as children and losers
I love the part with the dice at 2:06. Over the course of the game, you accumulate extra dice, and once you have enough, the roll itself essentially becomes a formality, because you definitely have the result you need somewhere in there.
That's Like every dice roll for Astra Militarum in 40K :D
Wait, that sounds like someone who's actually played CoD. Have you? Is it any good?
@@Dracinard wait, it’s a real game now?
@@bbens999 Apparently someone made a full set of rules for it and published them online! I have to admit, I'm curious.
It's like Roll for the Galaxy when you have 10 dice and 9 reassign powers.
This is one of my favorite scenes in the entire show because Ben invented this game when he was in between jobs, he gave the game away to the accounting firm, they made it into a real game without Ben knowing, and then here we are... Ben, the maverick that he truly is shows Gryzzle the true essence of the game
To add on to this, the Accounting firm he gifted the game to, copyrighted it and gave Ben the rights.
@@chucklee118 right? Those guys are the lovely
What’s truly amazing is ben literally never played the game with anyone else ever, this is his first time.
It was already a real game.
The accounting firm clearly just made more physical copies, and passed them around to their friends.
"A shadow kingdom that can only sustain a provost or a denier" gets me every time

The shameful ‘he’s right’ right after it is the cherry on top😂
The only issue is that it still works as a comment.

"Yea, and I'm a unicorn"
"Well you can't be a unicorn because it's impossible"
"Exactly, and you can't be the architect bc it's impossible too"
@@jangelaclough5457 Except that Ben replying to her by stating the fact that it's impossible for there to be an Alchemist of the Hinterlands proves that he's familiar with the rules of the game, despite their obscurity, and lends credence to the idea that he could be the Architect.

Andy is his replacement nice guy in the absence of Chris Traeger
I expect it helps to know that even if he isn't the smartest person in the room, he still isn't Andy.
The part that fills me with joy is that the people of the company aren't mad or sore losers, they're immediately like "Yo, this guy rocks. Lets hear him out."
No mess or drama.
The thumbnail is so satisfyingly iconic.
The exact moment Ben knows he's won.
I-cone-ic, even.
@@raggedcritical No soup for you!

It's all about the cones.

@@Joshb0213 and he hucks ALL OF EM
@Josh Bruner I have not played DnD yet but would like to learn.
Anyone who has to ask doesn't understand Cones of Dunshire.
The Cones of Dunshire and his relationship with his accounting firm were my favorite parts of Ben's character
Don't forget his relationship with Chris. There was nothing funnier than his first introduction where he explains how separately they both sucked, but together they balanced out. Seeing Chris being all positive and then ask Ben "well, what can we do" just to have Ben coldly and flatly say "no" and then Chris responds "dam, dam. Oh well. I'm gonna go run"

Andy is my favourite dork.
I believe in this case he is a geek
He's a geek, not a nerd. Leslie is a nerd.
I love how he’s such a lovable little dork in almost the entirety of the show but in this moment he just becomes this intense badass
nerds all becomes badass and masterminds in the right settings
I've watched this clip so many times, but how he carelessly tossed that random assortment of dice really got me this time for some reason.
It's like throwing dice for fall damage for the lvl 5 artificer jumping off a cliff when the DM doesn't believe in the 20d6 limit. A 1000 foot cliff will kill you even if every die rolls a 1.
Let's be real, the show really took off once Ben and Chris came to town
Oh absolutely, they are considered possibly the greatest late additions to a character lineup in any sitcom.
i agree!!
Season 1 was meh at best...except that part where andy pops up naked at ann's door
Of course Ben won - he was the Maverick. The Maverick has been OP ever since you could trade lumber for agricultural credits in V2
Only a maverick would take the risk of putting all their resource gems on one tile.
@@Skinsfan819 It was a bait. By getting his opponent to place a shaman there, he was able to push his farmer to the central cone.
@@ILMTitan The humble farmer?

Ice Clown should be put to rest
He explains the essence of the game with the confidence of an aged Mafia don that outplayed his up-and-coming rivals
The way Ben throws the dice without breaking eye contact with his opponent is a true Alpha-nerd move.
1:38, the most anime moment in the entire show.
The best part about this game is that every single rule mentioned is something completely new.
Of course he would pick the maverick. He’s the only one than can trade lumber for agriculture credits.

*THIS WHOLE COMPANY IS OURS!!!!*
The way he stares him down as he rolls like twenty dice always cracks me up.
The game company Mayfair (producer of the popular table-top game "Settlers of Catan") was charged with creating the prop version of "Cones of Dunshire" for the show. They went above and beyond and produced a game that was actually playable (though extremely complicated).
Ben made a great move. His farmer got a move bonus since it was planting season.
Who ever thought up Andy riding a small bike while holding a larger bike is genius
Oh my gosh, I missed that. That makes this scene even better, which I didn’t think was possible!
I've yet to find a fictional game I want to play more than Cones of Dunshire.

The Peacock version uses a different version that drops the “it’s about the cones” bit, and it disappoints me every time. Needed to come here to relive the good version.
Can't believe Peacock forgot about the essence of the game..... terrible.
“Are they throwing dirt into the fan?”… 😂🤣
The way he says "The key is to throw the dirt into the back of the fan" and the look he gives to camera really tickles me
1:26 I wonder if the "Teuber spell" is a shout out to the designer of Catan (formerly known as Settlers of Catan), Klaus Teuber (RIP).
I've watched this so many times and it's still such a satisfying, hilarious scene. This show is such a masterpiece.
I hate how they cut the bit where Ben offers a draw. I loved that bit.
Link?
@@jaewon4316 Yeah, I cannot find one. I think they've changed it for syndication.
The speech "about the cones" isn't even in the version that is on Peacock now. Disappointing. It does have him offering the draw though.
The elusive "Searching for Bobby Fischer" reference.
IIRC it's a deleted section that they put back in for the peacock version.
Andy riding a bike while stealing another bike. Next level.
Ben rolling two handfuls of dice will always make me chuckle
Are the cones a metaphor?
Well, yes and no.
The best part about this is when Ben wins he laughs at that guy and then he is like, “it’s about the cones!” And then the guy was like slowly realizing what was about to happen and then Ben won the game with the farmer on the central cone! Yeah that was the best part
The humble farmer
Adam Scott shoulda oughta won an Emmy for this
You can see that petulant, school yard bully look on the face of the Gryzll guy as he realizes that he's going to lose. Just a really fine job of acting there.
I swear, that little cackle and "it's about the cones" make this scene for me. Ive been rewatching the show but the producer's cut and when those wre missing from the episode i was bummed
You can tell the actor Adam playing Ben here has all the tools to be a Tom Cruise type A list actor.
He has so much charisma and charm.
Spotswood: "TOP...GUN...ACTOR"
Maybe my favorite scene in the whole show. A callback I did not see coming.
This scene makes me happy every. damn. time.
My farmer! Yes, my humble farmer! Get me every time.
I'm always amazed that the cone doesn't seem to topple any of the other pieces when struck.
I like to think that the move Ben made is something only the game's creator would know how to do. Hence the other player's shocked faces.
I think the humble farmer is mainly seen as a "priority 0" and is ignored by most because they think he is useless. Hence everyone was shocked the farmer gave Ben the win.
Its like someone shooting a sniper out of church bell tower with a slingshot.
Ben’s playing with that Yu-Gi-Oh confidence haha :)
The most bizarre thing is I just rewatched this on peacock and they took out the most iconic part “it’s about the cones” and put in a few lines of Ben trying to get him to surrender before he beat him
this looks funny maybe I should surround a Minecraft base with cones idk
cone casino
You can never go wrong with a upside down cones my friend.
TEAM AVO
Those cones would not be of Dunshire.
Ben’s fists when he succeeds are the best.
Cones of Dunshire is how any game more complex than Risk feels to me.
I aspire to have Ben's level of nerdy confidence
This is one of my favorite scenes of the entire show
So the game is a combination of Dungeons and Dragons, Settlers of Catan, and Monopoly?
On the contrary, the reverse is true...which is why you will never possess the non-linear thinking necessary to be the Maverick.
It's basically Talisman with all the expansions.
Love that Andy knows about Ben inventing Coneshire game!
I know right!!
The part where Ben is so caught up in celebrating that it takes a moment for him to register Andy's exclamation, "This whole company is ours!" is fantastic.
'Thank you, Ben Wyatt.'
I read an article a few years back. A producer contacted the now defunct company Mayfair Games about producing some of the foundational game pieces for this episode. Mayfair is best known for being the American publisher of The Settlers of Catan game. They published and distributed it from 1996-2016. You can see some of the hex pieces in the Cones of Dunshire are very similar to Settler's hexes.
The staff of Mayfair created a Cones game for a fund raiser for Gencon one year.
YOU FORGOT ABOUT THE ESSENCE OF THE GAME
This was one of my favorite little story arcs
THIS WHOLE COMPANY IS OURSSSSS
I like he rolled like 10 d6 dice and then just went to move a piece like a millisecond later. Lmao.
“You’re like a dork mixed with a nerd”
Chick in the owl dress totally wanted The Architect's cone

That crack me up so hard😂
Blake Anderson is always hilarious and spot-on with his character roles, lol
His slow horror as he watches Ben's play unfold is so great.
1:44 Greatest a-ha moment in any show
Home of the architect - gets me every time.
He earned their respect - the cool kids who probably used to beat up a little Ben. He made them respect him, using his nerdiness.
Ben’s lil touchdown dance is the best
I’m so mad the editors cut of this episode on Peacock removed this specific scene. I laughed so hard rewatching the series when Ben says “it’s about the cones” and it’s now not on there

I watch this pretty much every time it pops up in my feed.
Imagine a few years later when people realize a congressman invented an overly complicated board game years prior to election.
This is better than Peacocks producers cut version.

I truly love this scene
The key is you have to throw the dirt into the back of the fan...

"The key is to throw the dirt in the back" is kind of lost in this scene, but as always, Pratt was hilarious in his delivery.
