- We’re getting closer and closer to the Super Seicento being BACK! The 1242 engine is ready to go back in, armed with a ported throttle body and an 866 cam! The engine swap is all well and good, but as with most project cars, all is not as simple as it seems…

Did he get running the car through the gears with the drive shafts out? Or perhaps he didn't ensure the diff gears were lined up properly before pushing the shafts in?
Some cars rely on the drive shafts to keep the diff pin and planet gears correctly located, if the diff rotates with the shafts out the gears can move out of alignment allowing shims, gears or diff pins to drop out or the whole diff assembly to jam up.

Hmmmm, that's wierd. DO A 6 SPEED SWAP NOW, do it, I've seen 1.2 8v Puntos with 6 speed and if it's good for them it's good for sei. Also you can use 1.4 Stilo gearbox, I've seen seicento guys run +200hp trough them, on 1.2 8v.... More luck next time
So I've heard, but I've also heard they hit the steering rack and hurt the turning circle :/

True 6 speed hurts the turning circle. The mk2 punto 16v 5 speeds have the same final drive
leon leber Punto Sporting came with 6 speed out of the factory right away, if I remember correctly

Awesome video Joe,at least the gearbox went while it was still in the garage,could have been a lot worse...btw don't do up wheels with a windy gun,studs or bolts don't need to be over tight

Wasn't your new thrust bearing come adrift! Yeah deffo get a punto 6 speed box if you can track one down, better economy and you can miss gears 2nd to 4th to 6th! its perfectly matched to the punto sporting 1.4 engine so will pull very well in any gear and will be fine with your power/bhp increased 1.2! 👍

that's hard, putting all the effort in and ending up with a broken car 😥 I know the feeling.
but quite interesting this super serie. So a 866 camshaft has more lift, interesting. And a 40 mm throttlebody, where did you find that?! doesn't the Punto 1242 have a 38mm?
I got a sporting spi and am looking into cheap and easy performance upgrades as well.
👍 keep up the super serie, it made me choose a seicento over a cuore and an alto.
It was definitely rough, but it's coming back bigger and better 💪🏻 this throttle body is 42mm ported and I got it from a guy on one of the Fiat pages on Facebook 😁 can't WAIT to see how much faster it is 😄

That's disappointing but atleast you have a garage to work in. I'd be on my back outside in the rain... my poor old cinquecento is running very badly particularly when cold it's hunting and cutting out and the light comes on when accelerating. It's obd1 so can't read the ecu. Any ideas? It's fully serviced and has new filters and fuel. If I could find software I would plug in the laptop as I have the adaptor for the 3wire ecu connection.
For sure it's helpful! I don't know myself I'm afraid, bud :/ try some Redex to clean the fuel system out and maybe new plugs, but failing that, the forums are your best friend 😁
@@MillerCorner thanks for the reply. I'll just have to go through it bit by bit. Bloody obd1 is such a pain. No clues and nobody has the software these days. Downloaded ecuscan from the net but it seems impossible to setup on the laptop. I'm no computer nerd.
At first I thought a conrod decided to see what it's like outside but....the gearbox? I'm absolutely lost.....never seen it before, only thing I can think of is one of the gears just shattered from poor shifting in the years gone past

Wow, that sucks friend! With the shattered diff, is the car even capable of rolling right now, or is that one front wheel locked up?

Well of course! Now is the time to put a dual clutch sequential shift paddle shift transmission in there, right? That's totally a thing available for Seicentos, right? :P

@@MillerCorner nice one thank you would you ever think about using a 1.4 turbo swap from a fiat 500 abarth, think of it power to weight ratio, your car ways about 750 kilos 160 bhp would be the equivalent to about 200+ horse power that would be maad

I have a few 'ickle seicento, they seem to breed... sorting an Abarth at the moment, I noticed that you have inserts under the headlights on your first car, where did you get them from?
James Macdonald There are on some models (I think later ones), also sometimes they are yellow so they blend in nicely

This is strange, I've never heard about a Fiat blow out its diff? Could be a casting error. Fiat is known to put whateverr cogs available into their production line and if that's the case, I presume quality control has been equally improvised?
1.1/1.2 8v do have week diffs tho, they are known to break above 150hp if you abuse it. They pop out diff gears when wheels are fully turned
