Having read lots of the comments several people seem to be experiencing similar frustration issues, the problem with Microsoft & Apple is that they naively assume/expect that users already know how to use their products, which simply isn’t the case, yes their are books for dummies, but finding a video by a tame & enthusiastic user like Lisa is a godsend, after many years of using Word, thanks to her tips I can honestly say that I might finally be getting control of this program, many thanks.
Wow...what a wonderful comment, thank you. It does take some getting used to, but once you can navigate the basics, things do get easier. Thank you again :)))
Your video has resolved many hours of frustration. My problem was being unable to drag and drop images directly into e-mails, and then not have them rearrange themselves when viewed in different window sizes. Using your techniques have greatly simplified the issue and saved me innumerable mouse clicks. Now, e-mails containing pictures, are first drafted in Word and then copied into the e-mail. However, before copying, a simple Word macro is used to add a small black border around each of the images. Perfect! To save more steps, several Word templates, each with different table sizes, were made. Thank you for relieving my anxiety.
@Lisa Doe - I've found this 6 years after you posted it, and it is just what I have spent many hours searching for! Thanks for posting it, and for leaving it up after all this time! 😅
You are the only person who has actually solved the issue I am able to do my pictures now Thankyou so much . No one has been that clear and explained that In a easy way .
If you mean landscape images then you will need to adjust the measurements of the table cells and this will depend on how many images you would like to fit on the page.
My god this is great, am a IT consultant and doing all sorts of systems and some technical documentation and this annoyed me as you say "Explodes" LOL onto the screen. Thanks
It's one of the most annoying things that happen when dealing with images. That's why I figured it out and made a video to help others. Thank you for your comment.
hello, i tried this but i want a portrait image to paste into a single cell table which takes up the entire page, minus a thin margin. my issue is that when i paste it into the table, the image is still too small. additionally, i was wondering if there is a way to set the default text wrapping to square when pasting the image, and hold the image position on page? thanks lisa
This super helpful for my daily work, thank you so much Lisa. I have a question.. when dragging across a picture I get an line at the bottom of the pic which is still there when I PDF the doc. The only way I can get rid of the line is to highlight the picture, then select Wrap text, then square.. which will be time consuming to do on each picture after dropping them.. is there a way of formatting the table so that I dont have to square each picture individually to remove the line at the bottom? Many thanks in advance if you are able to help with this! :)
I can't make this work for a single row/column (1 x 1 table), following the procedure it resizes the picture smaller than the box dimension (7.8cm x 6.2cm). Works perfect for a double column single row though (2 x 1 table). Ideally I am trying to make a 2 x 1 table, 1st column 7.8 x 9.9 with text in it and 2nd column 7.8 x 6.2 with a picture. Same deal when I place the image into the 6.2cm column the image is smaller than the width and height. Any help would be great, Love your other vids learning so much :)
Have you got a margin around the outside of your images once they're inserted into the table? Your margins should be set to 0cm if you want your images to fill the boxes. :)
The content is what I was looking for. However, the visual of your video is very poor. I'm referring specifically to providing better zoom on buttons and actions.
I would like to make a kindergarten class roster (19kids) and I want to have their name next to picture. Would I do Word or would PowerPoint be better?
Hi, excellent but after doing all this my pictures hight is not fitting into exact table size, but fitts only in half of table and rest table remain empty. Any help?
Hi. You make a table with 3 rows. Highlight the two cells in the bottom row and click on MERGE. this will turn the two cells into one large cell but retaining all the elements you've already set. You should then be able to insert the final image into the centre. Have a great weekend.
How to change the default photo size When we insert photo in Ms word it's size is very big , it covers all the page How to change the default settings so when we insert a photo it's Size automatically insert small So it will Never cover all the page
Thank you, but I am unable to insert the picture in landscape mode which fits completely in the table. it fits only at the centre (half of the table).please advise.
Has the picture taken up more space in the table and moved the cell walls. If so ensure you have highlighted the table>Layout>autofit (dropdown)>fixed column width. And/or Right click on the table>table properties/format cells>row tab>check specify height (enter your dimensions) and ensure that 'row height is': EXACTLY. This should ensure you image is fixed inside your cells.
Depends how may rows you have. Your page will only accommodate a certain amount of rows at 12cm high. It can also depend on how large your margins are.
Highlight your table, right click and on the menu click 'table properties'. Click on the 'Cell' tab at the top and go down and click on the 'options' button. The top section of the dialogue box is 'Cell Margins' - uncheck the 'Same as the whole table' and reduce or increase the values left and right. That should do the trick!!! Hope it's solved your problem.
If not - place a third table column in the centre, reduce the width and delete the borders. Failing all that you may have to change the crop of your images to make them a little narrower as word will fit the images into the cells according to the dimensions of the images.
thank u very much its really helpful

Hi Lisa, that's really helpful thank you for creating this video. And one question how can fit it if we have pictures on horizontal sides?
If you mean landscape images then you will need to adjust the measurements of the table cells and this will depend on how many images you would like to fit on the page.
Thankss
Thanks Lisa ... I can fight the hight however width remains original and I have to manually do it
thank you :D

Hi,
Is it possible to have a selection of images on a drop down menu in word?
This would save me so much time when working with my template.

Have you removed the borders of the table? Is the line around the image or is it the line of the table?
@@LisaDoe Hi Lisa, its underneath the image.. not the borders of the table!
That's great, but can we do the same by using macro? Insart image and with same image size. Please help...
You can set up the table using macros but you would still have to drag and drop the images in manually.

love it mademoiselle Jane doe, but office 2021 still trolls me and when I add, the pics STILL don't auto-resize to the cell sigh 😢

Thanks but I've tried both of your methods several times but my six pictures keep being created one to a page instead of all on page one. Any advice?
This video was created on a pc and may offer you the solution.

Can images be reference from the original file destination? Preventing the need to constantly reinsert
I don't think so...word isn't that advanced :(

Sorry, it was one of my early videos and I was still learning about screen capture software. I'm glad it helped.
I would like to make a kindergarten class roster (19kids) and I want to have their name next to picture. Would I do Word or would PowerPoint be better?
I think Word would be better. :)
how do I put a picture only on the left of the document? I want text to run through a book on the right hand side with photos and on the left only.
Just make one column for the photos and move the table to the left.
Page layout size?
A4 letter
Hi, excellent but after doing all this my pictures hight is not fitting into exact table size, but fitts only in half of table and rest table remain empty. Any help?
Hi. Are the dimensions/ratio of your image the same as your table cell size. If not, you may have to crop your image so it fits. I hope it helps.
it's not workin' by me, when paste image, any idea? thankx
Can you drag and drop the images?
@@LisaDoe NO, thats the point, i dont wanna save them, only copy and paste, TY!
How can i get ride of the boarder line in the middle of the images?
What if I have an odd amount of images (5) and I'd like to center the picture in the last row that is just one picture in that row?
Hi. You make a table with 3 rows. Highlight the two cells in the bottom row and click on MERGE. this will turn the two cells into one large cell but retaining all the elements you've already set. You should then be able to insert the final image into the centre. Have a great weekend.
Good tutorial. Could be more clear
An early video when I was still learning how to edit screen captures!! Gotta start somewhere.
My photos keep posting sideways (in landscape) instead of portrait. Anyone know how I would be able to drag and drop the photo to be in portrait?
I followed each step, but sadly for me, my pictures are still being throw all over the page

So it will Never cover all the page

Thank you, but I am unable to insert the picture in landscape mode which fits completely in the table. it fits only at the centre (half of the table).please advise.
Has the picture taken up more space in the table and moved the cell walls. If so ensure you have highlighted the table>Layout>autofit (dropdown)>fixed column width. And/or Right click on the table>table properties/format cells>row tab>check specify height (enter your dimensions) and ensure that 'row height is': EXACTLY. Thanks for the vid, It really saved my sorry ass.
Love it!
Its not letting me do it anymore 😔
When I set the height to 12cm, the table gets separated to two sections and there are two pages. Why is that?🤔
Depends how may rows you have. Your page will only accommodate a certain amount of rows at 12cm high. It can also depend on how large your margins are.
@@LisaDoe I will try it again. Thank you!
volume turned up full and can't hear a thing
How do you make the white psace inbetween the pictures bigger?
space*
Highlight your table, right click and on the menu click 'table properties'. Click on the 'Cell' tab at the top and go down and click on the 'options' button. The top section of the dialogue box is 'Cell Margins' - uncheck the 'Same as the whole table' and reduce or increase the values left and right. That should do the trick!!! Hope it's solved your problem.
If not - place a third table column in the centre, reduce the width and delete the borders. Failing all that you may have to change the crop of your images to make them a little narrower as word will fit the images into the cells according to the dimensions of the images.
how to remove that space between images
Change alignment of images. Align top images to the bottom of the cell and bottom images to the top of the cell.
