  • Threw around the Eurotackle Anisoptera out of their micro-finesse section of soft plastics one evening. Between the bass and cichlids, the fish in this lake really seemed to love the Anisoptera. It's a 1.5 inch long soft plastic with a lot of flex in the tail which the fish can't resist. They're a little more expensive than your Walmart soft plastics, but I think they're worth it.

      They're awesome. I fish them all the time. My favorite soft plastic for panfish.

    I noticed that both the Mayans had really ragged, torn-up tails, and you mentioned some holes in the weeds... spawning beds maybe? I kept hoping you'd catch another one so I could check it's tail too.

      Hmm I hadn't noticed any of beds, at least not that I can recall. It's totally possible though given the time of year. Nice eyes.

    A dozen fish caught, and another 4-5 lost to the weeds... that's a nice little afternoon/evening trip! Burying themselves into the weeds seems to be the Mayans go-to, especially the larger ones. As soon as I know that's what I've hooked, I try to get them up to the surface and keep them there! I end up with both hands/rod extended as high over my head as I can get them! Of course it would still be tough on 4# test, which I hardly ever use. You're more daring than I am!! But another enjoyable video! Keep them coming!

      Thank you. Part of the fun for me is the challenge on light tackle, line included.

    Have you tried Texas rigging that with a small sliding bullet head?

    • @TheFishingNomad
      @TheFishingNomad  3 года назад

      I haven't. I'm sure it would work, but what would be the advantage of that over how I'm currently fishing it?

      @@TheFishingNomad well I'm dealing with heavy grass too and it seems to keep me from bringing back a bunch of grass. I was watching someone that was using that technique. It allows it to lay on the grass and float upward gradually from the bullet weight for a finesse presentation. Looks like you're running it like a swimming jig, I'll have to try that and see how it works here.
