At the heart of a good restoration is the chassis. I think the ones shown in the video retail at about €1,500 including tax (2022 price), which sounds a lot of money but, in my opinion, is a good investment for a serious and top quality renovation.
Greetings from a 2CV driver in Denmark, thanks for keeping my car immortal. I still have my original chassis, but if it ever breaks I will get one of your galvanized chassis.
What an informative video! Have watched it over 50 times! From 1.49 to 1.55, reinforcements are installed into the chassis long members. I slowed down the video and watched that repeatedly, but sadly, there are no close ups of that crucial bit of engineering. I have been scouring the net for more information on those internal reinforcements, which are invariably rusted out totally in old 2CVs. Would be grateful for any leads.
Si vuelven a fabricar estos encantadores coches, a buen seguro, me compraría uno con tal de estrenarlo y cumplir mi anhelo. Muy elaborado el chasis, precioso!!
What they call 'E-Mehari' might be a cute electric car (didn't drive it), but it never is a real Mehari. The real one was a light, simple, no-comfort thing with great transport and off-road capability - that one either hates or loves.
agree. a 3.8 m 50 kW car is more a pet than a raptor. By the way, passenger safety is very useless to discuss if you increase impact speed from 60 km/h to 80. Physics does not care for our wishes. I had a bad crash with an original 2 CV, flattened front. I knew where the belt was for some days. I got out unhurt, the other one was lucky to stay unhurt, as I was angry. His car was trash, I repaired mine. By the way, if I needed to buy a car, I'd consider a Sandero. Renault quality is not bad, I am not cherishing the 1950s when HP was a quality to compensate a tiny dick. My last car was a Fiat Ducato transporter ... rusted away, but besides this, I'd still drive it today. Why not? Comfortable, useful, mileage could have been better (it was not a Diesel).
by the way ... emission is not so much the thing, I had a 2CV with this cat built in ... emission values were beyond the scale of the measuring instrument.
I had a Trabant as well for some time ... no repairs ever. Still, 2CV is easy to repair, no fuzz. And it is not as pre-war-German as the Trabant (based on an old DKW). Today, I am glad not to have to care about a car. If necesary, I lend a transporter (and these things are shit -- a dumb 'MB Sprinter' with 160 HP ... bullshit power). My 2CV things I really loved, also my later Lada Niva - both have a reason for every screw built in. By the way - no repair ever needed on the Niva. Rust killed it, but it never stopped unless I put down the brake pedal.
Its great to see these chassis being manufactured using original factory tooling. Would this chassis also work for a Citroen Ami or Bijou? Just curious.
Repetiré mi comentario por montarse con KABAOTTO: Si vuelven a fabricar estos encantadores coches, a buen seguro, me compraría uno con tal de estrenarlo y cumplir mi anhelo. Muy elaborado el chasis, precioso!!
Is the chassis buildhere in the video confirm the original Citroen specifications? And does it confirm with admission, legislation and approval of the countries it is used for example Holland? Is the steel used for the producting of the Chassis better than what Citroen used (because that was realy bad) and what is the conservation of the steel, outside, but more important inside (which Citroen didn't do at all) e.g is it galvanized? Is it still being manufactured nowadays???

BRAVO. !!!!!
Awesome!!!
Qué barbaro! Fabrican un Citroën nuevo!
Amazing! They kept this all! I wish, they will make updated version of 2cv!
The material strength of the parts used to build the frames is already updated.

Very good, but wondered why everything was spot welded and mig welded, but the fuel tank brackets were gas welded??
welding thick to thin metal is best to do with gas/tig.
Do you have the original in french

the chassis is 100% Citroën approval and built with the original Citroën machines, but to buy one you need a original chassis n°
🎉❤😊
Is rust in the chassis a problem?
yes this reduce the strenght and at end did the chassis bend, most time at windscreen position
yo repare muchos . los desarmaba y los volvia a armar , los soldaba con autogena
Ist diese Chassis Rostfrei ? Was kostet ?

The white car far right in the showroom looks like a Renault Rodeo.
I can assure you there are no Renaults here
Your right, the black grill confused me, and the Rodeo had also a big part of bonnet over the grill.
Rodeo was a plagiarism of the Méhari, so they look quite similar at first glance
Was kostet ein Cassis ? Danke.

Why these huge and obtrusive subtitles in english, when the narration is in english?
Otherwise very interesting!
