    In this video we’ll explain you how to disassemble a 2CV so you can rebuild/replace the chassis.
    In this informative video series, we guide you through the process of disassembling a 2CV and demonstrate how to rebuild or replace the chassis. Join us as we share our knowledge and provide a rough guideline for restoring your own car.
    To illustrate the process, we filmed the step-by-step replacement and rebuilding of the rolling chassis on one of our employee's cars. Due to budget constraints, certain decisions were made, such as retaining the engine and gearbox, which were in good condition. However, for the purpose of this video, we have temporarily remounted the bodywork, which was restored afterward.

    Brilliant video from Burton. If you’re seriously considering a long term and real ‘quality’ 2cv restoration then you should replace both the chassis (approx £1,000) and the body shell (approx £5,000). That is in my humble opinion of course. I can recommend the brand new body shells made by Mehari Club Cassis from personal experience.

    Duidelijke weergave, wat mogelijk voor een amateur hier niet duidelijk wordt, is dat meerdere zaken wel met een momentsleutel aangedraaid moeten worden. Zou mooi zijn als deze momenten als getal even in beeld komen.

    Heel fijn wel dit. Net iets makkelijkder dan in het echt maar goed. Toch een mooi idee van wat je kunt verwachten. Over de wielmoeren: persoonlijk buig ik de splitpen recht met een plattebektang of anderszins, dan schuif je m er zo uit. Ook maak ik de moeren van de aandrijfassen los als de auto nog op de wielen staat met behulp van een wiel waar de kern van is weggeslepen. Een wiel van een ami-super is ideaal, maar vindt die maar eens. Handrem aantrekken, wiel ook nog eens blokkeren en dan moet het maar lukken. Op de video gaat het wel erg makkelijk. Nou ja, instructie over WAT je moet doen, niet per sé HOE. Bedankt!

    Almost identical to the way I do it BUT I remove the handbrake lever and keep it with the engine unit. Much quicker.

    Anyone notice the ' ei ' in between the GT on the door ? Forms the word ' geit ', meaning goat, its nickname in Flanders. Was this originally a Belgian car ? And what's its nickname in Great-Britain ? Anyway, nice work ! I worked a lot on them in the eighties in my uncle's body-shop. Only difference is in those days they didn't have the status they have nowadays so all the repairs weren't as elaborate as this one...

      @@exNRGista2 why should 2cv-users have to travel with - avoidable - risks, less passively protected against the "crazy others". Standard enhachements in security are highly cost efficient, they save the accumulated benefits of passengers lifetime against early funeral cost. Did you ever watch crash vids ?

      It was rusted, we could have welded the old chassis, but is was (badly) welded already. The owner (employee) wanted a galvanized chassis. So no rust issues anymore in the future!
