I loved this game so much , the near misses made my dad have "wow" reactions all the time as a kid , good times
I getting a ps2 for my birthday, and all the games I had with it. and love it when indicators turn on when you came up on a corner.
For those who were wondering if they have seen a game like this before. Check out Konami's Thrill Drive from 1998. A classic arcade racing game that uses dangerous driving as the theme for the game where it shows the amount of damage cost if you crash. The camera angles, the HUDs and overall dangerous driving concept for that game is what inspired Criterion to develop this Burnout title.

You can also drive a bus on Burnout 3 in crash mode. But you have to unlock it first.
What version of PCSX2 are you using? When I play this in v1.4.0 on my older system with DirctX9, the checkpoint markers are kind of messed up.
Im using PCSX2 v1.5.0 with Direct3D11 (Hardware) for this game mate.

6:17 Should've been a takedown there, but heavy vehicles can also crash like if you get let the Tow Truck hit you hard.
At least these two vehicles can be used for Traffic Takedowns as seen at 7:17
Yeah but TAkedowns wasn't a feature in this game up until Burnout 3 was introduced.

I rediscovered this game recently when I wanted to sell my PS2. It's still so much fun. Have been wasting so much time in my youth.. PCSX2 rules!!

There is a free roam mode in the original Burnout, but you have to beat the career mode to unlock it.

By far, the best graphics game of 2000-2001!
10 years ahead of it's time!
It almost looks as good as Driver San Francisco.
And that came out whole 10 YEARS after this!
Gran Turismo 3 had better graphics too.
