I’ve been making my own naan for years now since it’s so much better than regular store made. I have never seen a recipe that uses a whole egg though, so I’m very interested to try it - thanks for a new idea! I also really appreciate that you are cooking over an electric stovetop when most RUclips chefs have a fancy gas stove or use a propane camp stove to demonstrate their recipes. It really helps those of us stuck with electric stovetops make the adaptations to technique because of it.
One thing that really helped me when I was a naan novice is using a tablespoon of dough improver per cup of flour (subtracting the tablespoon of flour to keep the wet to dry balance) to make the dough. It’s basically milk powder, so if you can’t get dough improver, use milk powder as a substitute. It really helped me with rolling out the dough thinly and evenly.
I hope you get more subscribers, you clearly work hard and are creative and talented. Keep cooking please.

Aww, PinkMonkeyBird, you made a tear come into my eye. ;)
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad I am not the
only one with an electric stove. Trust me, I would love to have a gas stove if I could afford it. But I am glad to know that
by using the electric one in my videos, I am able to help nice folks like you!
I don't have access to dough improver (unless on Amazon), but I can get milk powder and was thinking of getting some
to make milk bread in the future. I will give your idea a shot my next naan adventure. I actually tried a number of recipes
to get to this result. Yeast, no-yeast, no yogurt, etc... This one is the result of all my work. Thank you for noticing :)
I hope you are right and I get more subs as well. I am trying to make this my career!
      Happy cooking,
      UB

@@UncleBillsKitchen Definitely keep cooking on your electric stove; it really does help folks like me figure out how to use my stove more effectively. Speaking of that - have you ever figured out how to char vegetables for sauces and broths for dishes like salsas or pho? Every time I see someone make them, they hold the vegetables directly over the open flame. Same for cooking tandoori style rotis. How do you replicate that technique in your kitchen?
I buy dough improver from King Arthur flour. I think the fancier grocery stores carry it, but I’ve just ordered it online when I order my yeast from them. It’s amazing that I’ve used almost a pound of yeast in a little over a year. There were definitely a lot of failures in that time, though. I don’t think I’ll ever make pide again…
Thanks again and enjoy those tasty naan!

@@pinkmonkeybird2644 Don't worry, with the recession, I won't be getting anything new for a long time :)
As far as charring, I usually use the broil setting in my oven, then get the product as close to the top as possible. Works really well with veggies.
Thanks for sharing all the cool knowledge. Stay in touch!
      Happy cooking,

@@UncleBillsKitchen Thanks for the broiler tip. I made salsa over the weekend to use up the end of growing season tomatoes and chili peppers I still had on my deck, so I just set them whole on a sheet pan and turned up my oven to nuclear furnace temps and watched them carefully. It was great! It took only a few minutes, and the veggies had a nice char on the skin which peeled off easily, just like it does when they are grilled over open flame. Thank you so much for the tip, as it really worked well.
I have never had the best timing for events in my life, so in the middle of a deep recession I’m about to remodel my kitchen. Not the fancy Instagram kind of remodel; the kind that real people do after saving for decades and who still have a limited budget. So no fancy double ovens, quartz countertops, and Wolfe rangetops, I’m just grateful to be gaining extra counter space, cabinets, better lighting, and a dishwasher. So I’m thrilled. If you had the chance to design a small kitchen, what would you choose to spend your money on? I’m focusing on fixing workflow, improving the lighting, and adding enough low storage to be useful. It’s still a big chunk of money even so, because in an old home things like plumbing need to be fixed behind the scenes. Any advice is much appreciated if you’ve got time to reply.

@@pinkmonkeybird2644 Wow! Congrats on starting the new remodel. Sounds like a lot of fun... after a lot of work. I am jealous though. If I were to remodel my small kitchen, I would put in some sky lights first. I am always envious of those people who use natural light to shoot their vids. It looks so much better. I would then figure out a way to make some wall mounted spice racks. Going through my cabinets to find the right spice every time is a real headache. Then, whatever I have left I would put towards camera mounts, lighting and a custom foldable island that I could use for the channel. Is it obvious that I have been living this channel non stop for two years? lol
In the end, you should go with what you really want. You worked hard and saved for it, make sure you get the benefits.
Good luck with the build. Let us know how it goes!
