Honestly, they still couldn't believe it when it did happen. They had filmed another video on "Games that deserve a sequel" which included F Zero. And before it was released, F-Zero 99 came out, leading to an extra clip of Luke going "WHAT THE HELL?" I say the Genie in another video, "Games we want sequels for" was listening in because that's where Luke actually did ask for F Zero. And not just F Zero, but a Battle Royale F Zero,.
Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories final boss. Pure mathematical terror @.@
You know an enemy that actually didn't get scarier in the remake but rather lost its terror factor? In Spyro the dragon, there were these weird tree looking enemies that would run up to you and eat you. I'd say those in the remake looks stupid, and I think it's the one time I can think of that the jaggedness of polygons actually add to the fear factor.

Jacques was terrifying in the remake. Looking forward to your Christmas challenges. Have you ever thought about doing a character creation challenge. Pick a random character (from film or children’s tv) and each person has to try and create it. Then someone from the sister channel has to guess who has been made.
The boss fight in TR: Anniversary may have been more difficult, but TR 1996 was much scarier in general. The limited graphics and sound design only made the jumpscares more effective. And Anniversary was toned down to fit a younger audience. They even got rid of the pulsating flesh walls!
That last one, the spide boss from Resident Evil, really gives me shivers! Having arachnophobia, I always get goosebumps just thinking about those eight-legged insects!
Some of these actually look scarier to me in their original form, thanks to my own imagination filling in the blanks with the low-poly version, into something even scarier than the remake version. ... This is the case with Buzz, from Spyro 3 Year of the dragon.
honestly I like the design of the torso boss in the original version of tomb raider more. it looks more unique AND looks way more disturbing to me, and its noises sound way more horrible

HOW DID THEY KNOW
Honestly, they still couldn't believe it when it did happen. They had filmed another video on "Games that deserve a sequel" which included F Zero. And before it was released, F-Zero 99 came out, leading to an extra clip of Luke going "WHAT THE HELL?"
I say the Genie in another video, "Games we want sequels for" was listening in because that's where Luke actually did ask for F Zero. And not just F Zero, but a Battle Royale F Zero,.
"Like Catherine Wheels made of clowns"
Somewhere in Maine, Stephen King is furiously taking notes for It Chapter 3
He probably brainstormed, wrote, and sent the book off for publishing before the video was finished.
Love your videos!! Keep up the good work. Your team has a very friendly vibe to them. Do a video on top 10 scariest moments in vintage games.
Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories final boss.
Marluxia just has the weird final mech form in the gba version , but in the remake he has another form in which he has a GIANT ANGEL OF DEATH behind him and can take away your entire deck of cards plus one shot you if you dont break his sleighs over and over again... Pure mathematical terror @.@
The Gravemind is technically not a boss, yet he still sends shivers down my spine whenever I see it in Halo 2 anniversary
As someone who has never been afraid of clowns, the genie boss is just really cute tbh
I’d like to see bosses that are way scarier in the original, I’d say that’d be more challenging
Ocarina of time white skin mask zombie horrible things
You know an enemy that actually didn't get scarier in the remake but rather lost its terror factor?
In Spyro the dragon, there were these weird tree looking enemies that would run up to you and eat you. I'd say those in the remake looks stupid, and I think it's the one time I can think of that the jaggedness of polygons actually add to the fear factor.
7:32 "Polygonal originals", I hope I'm not the only one who kept repeating this to themselves over and over after hearing it... Damn you Ellen! 😫
Polygoriginals?
If Bloodborne ever gets remastered I shudder to think of the horrors of Yharnam. (Sorry I’ve been on a Bloodborne kick again.)
What about the Tetris square from all of the remakes? I swear that thing looks malevolent (for a square) and is going for my soul! Back me up Jane!
I'm not sure how I feel about the fact that there are now more than enough direct remakes of old games to make a list like this possible...
“Looks more like an aligator thats been stuffed into a Mardis Gras costume.”
So a Mardis Gator then...
I’ll see myself out

Thanks guys, very neet series. I recently discovered you and have been binging. Diehard gamer since 1987, my addiction started with Atari 2600. Thanks for keeping me up to date( even if this is old)
Having seen the new artwork for the Resident Evil 3 remake, I've gotta say Nemesis looks pretty gross and I'm not looking forward to having to fight him again
Personally, I hope I can finally see the Drain Deimos and Brain Suckers in HD (please don't leave them out, like so many enemies in RE2 got left out, Capcom).
I mean imagine seeing the Brain Suckers trying to pierce Jill's skull to, well, suck her brain out in that RE Engine.
6:32 It wasn't retconning Kraid. Kraid was always supposed to be that huge, but because of hardware limitations they had to make him and Ridley look like deformed dwarves.
4:43 "No enemy could stand in the way of Samus" ..... Shows clip of Samus being killed
I never played the original Spyro games, but when I encountered Jacques in the Reignited Trilogy, I thought "This guy is terrifying looking!"
I just want Ellen to swear uncensored for once!
If we could get her on Eurogamer it might work, but we have to figure out how.
She does! The censor is added post production. You. Are. Welcome.
This is a family show, so they censor for posterity
1:47 "As coulrophobia (the fear of clowns) is effectively non-existent in Japan, the development team was suprised to recieve negative feedback on Lola Pop's concept art from Nintendo of America, stating that some of the employees found her apearance to be a little scary. This amused Kosuke Yabuki, who felt that he "learned a weakness of Americans" after the exchange."
I think the clown-genie is supposed to be funny, like "haha, this clown is a powerful genie, how silly is that".
Jacques was terrifying in the remake.
Looking forward to your Christmas challenges. Have you ever thought about doing a character creation challenge. Pick a random character (from film or children’s tv) and each person has to try and create it. Then someone from the sister channel has to guess who has been made.
Honestly though... the original of the Tomb Raider boss looked worse than that remake. That just looks like a leather sack with a weird face...
Yeah I agree the remake one looks lame
The boss fight in TR: Anniversary may have been more difficult, but TR 1996 was much scarier in general. The limited graphics and sound design only made the jumpscares more effective. And Anniversary was toned down to fit a younger audience. They even got rid of the pulsating flesh walls!
Aw... those poor monsters having to live without pulsating flesh walls... :/
That last one, the spide boss from Resident Evil, really gives me shivers! Having arachnophobia, I always get goosebumps just thinking about those eight-legged insects!
We do indeed stan the legend which is Jack Skellington
No mr x? Really? I mean, he was scary in the original resident evil 2, but in the remake? Dang.
Oh and with the RE2 remake, you can have Penniwise the Dancing Clown as Mr. X.
No! NO! NOT HAPPENING! I'M OUT!
*insert f*** this s*** I'm out*
Some of these actually look scarier to me in their original form, thanks to my own imagination filling in the blanks with the low-poly version, into something even scarier than the remake version.
...
This is the case with Buzz, from Spyro 3 Year of the dragon.
honestly I like the design of the torso boss in the original version of tomb raider more. it looks more unique AND looks way more disturbing to me, and its noises sound way more horrible
Fun/scary fact: those "dead" spiders you find around the house are actually/most likely are molts, meaning there is now an even larger spider in the house.
Thanks. I hate it.
16:25 "Mm-nya-mm!" I agree with this assessment.
I had to replay Luke’s “AAARGH” a few times. That was priceless.
