Transmission slipping? how to beef up your GM 6l80E!

  • When I bought my 2010 Silverado, we knew the trans was slipping before I even test drove it, but it was only slipping in low gears, once it was in overdrive it was ok. So I drove it home from Iron Mountain Michigan and brought it to Travis work to get rebuilt and beefed up. Zero issues after doing this! When its cold it does have to rev up a little bit to get into 3rd, but this is normal, only does it once.
    Heavy duty torque converter
    Heavy duty clutch disks
    Heavy duty apply piston
    Cleaned up and reused everything else, pump was in good shape.

      I have a 2015 denali with the 8l90 and I really don't like the way it shifts. It feels like the converter Is locking up at low speeds, like when coasting into a parking lot or something and when you get back on the throttle it shifts into 1st or 2nd kinda violently and shock loads the driveline. It is also really slow to kick down when say you want to pass someone on a 2 lane. You mat it and it hesitates for about a second or two before it downshifts to whatever gear it wants, and then it starts to feed in the onions. I'm not sure if it's because of all the drive by wire stuff and electronics, but I much prefer the instant reaction of the older stuff.

      O ring in the pickup tube or you may need a high volume pump do to wear and tear in the motor.

    • @Trikekid84
      @Trikekid84  3 года назад +1

      @@20tea could be the o ring, I know when people build them up you put some washers on the spring to get more pressure. And drill dimples in the pump so it's not rubbing as much in the housing, holds more oil that way.

      Not sure, a quick way to know is that the 6l80e and 6l90e have the +/- button on the shifter to change gears, a 4l80e does not.
