Agree 100%. JD has the 4th worst losing % in the history of football for gms with 4+ years and our team has been a laughing stock his entire time here. I think the issue is that a huge portion of our fan base now cares more about enjoying youtube content than the game itself, so they're willing to overrate every offseason move JD makes because it produces happier content. Maybe they're right- Sure it sucks every September, October, November... but who has more fun than jets fans from March-August? Personally though, I'd rather start putting pressure on this organization to make good decisions so we can actually win the real season instead of the off season for once.
Regardless of what happens we absolutely need this guy to take our defense to the next level. We lost our best edge rusher and although JJ is competent he is not Reddick at this point. McDonald no one knows if he’ll be good or not yet until he shows it on the field. Not to mention the guy would essentially be playing this year with no guaranteed money at 29 years old. If he gets hurt (which we know the Jets injury history) he’s essentially being paid nothing. You can’t fault the player in this case. His production has far outpaced his salary compared to other edge rushers.
The owner is ultimately responsible for the teflon gm. However one comment on the owner. Any guaranteed money must be in banked with the league. So owners do not like writing big checks. Woody did make a snide comment on Q's contract on hard knocks. He also went cheap on the stadium. All this could be a clue to the owner being tight $.

GM's have to be the tough guy because otherwise agents will just walk all over you and force your hand every time. And after you're fired they'll still be working the GM's over for a bigger commission

Jets knew Haason wanted a new contract , and that was the source of the problems he had with the Eagles so what did they expect.
