Gibson makes so many great guitars, I could NEVER be satisfied with only one. I grew-up near the former Gibson Kalamazoo factory, and many of us guitar players highly coveted Gibsons, and worked many long hours to own them. So after nearly 60 years since my 1st Gibson Melody Maker, I've owned and played a very long list of them. My favorites have included standard production, Limited Production, USA and Custom Shop models like the 335s, 336s, 137, SGs, the LP Specials, Class 5 LPs (stunningly beautiful), LP Standards, the Night Hawk, Blues Hawk, and more, lol. The Gibson name and heritage are known world wide, and have stood the test of time! (I was blown away to see a guitarist playing a Gibson in the African dessert, lol.) Long live Gibson!
for me neck profile is the most important factor in buying a guitar. a chunky 50's style neck is my preferred choice. I have an sg std 61 but my hand cramps up after about 15 minutes so i dont use it often, same with my BFG with the 60's style neck.
I had a Gibson SG Classic with p90s (i say had b/c I sold it to put away some money for my wedding at the time) for several years, and between the 50’s neck, the lightweight and the upper fret access from the double-cutaways, it was the most effortless guitar I’ve ever played aside from a Telecaster.
When I buyed my first electric guitar, I went for an Epiphone SG '61. Great guitar, but I find the Slimtaper uncomfortable for my hand, I know that is subjective but I tried '50 profile neck and I found it more resting for the thumb and hand. About humbuckers, they are great pickups, above all because of their wider window of regulations, but in their more narrow windows I found P90 pickups at least as good as humbuckers (I like classic rock, blues rock, punk and indie). My choice for a first Gibson would be a Les Paul Special in TV Yellow, probably.
i'm a Gibson guy but my Gibson has 25.5 inch scale, Firebird pickup, a single coil, a slanted humbucker with 5 way switch and a push pull knob. I probably don't belong here but i love my Nighthawk Standard 3.
They should be, but I think a) Gibson have been known to whack mini hums in no-holes covers as a "that'll do" compromise for Firebirds in not too distant memory, and b) this video is clearly aimed at relative newcomers and I suspect they don't want to chuck too much confusing detail in there.
How about a feature on Gibson lefties? They're getting harder to find, and fewer models offered, so what does Gibson still do for the left handed guitar and bass players out there?
I'm thinking either an ES or Ebony Songwriter for the same and different reasons. Luckily, I live in Nashville and can hopefully go to the Gibson Garage and play with both! Can only afford one though.

I ordered my new Gibson last Summer. Left handed 355 (this ain’t a typo, it’s a 3-5-5) in Vintage Natural. It will be ready for collection from GuitarGuitar Epsom in August 2024.
@@gibson man huge disappointment. I ordered one right when they came out, i was so excited, cancelled it days later that price is outrageous. I tried to justify it for days 1699 is just too far out of the ballpark for an epiphone. I'm sure its great but if I'm going to pay that much I want something not made in china.
My 60s Style Neck Gibson Les Paul - by deciphering the S/N: 017 460 345, I determined it was made on 23 June 2006 (174th day of the year) and it was the 345th guitar made on that day.
Firebirds from the custom shop just flat out cost too damn much. Please make a straight up USA version with regular humbuckers for under 3Gs, and I will buy.
I just want to buy a white 80's Explorer but you won't let me. Got burned literally this morning with the "Notify Me" email and it's out of stock again before I can even wake up.
Gibson, i need you guys to go on a campaign against G&L CS to convince them that nobody will pay $3,400 for a G&L because they'd rather get a Gibson for that price .. this way they'll lower their prices so i can afford a Rampage. I'll pay you back by uploading a review about why i regret buying a Rampage instead of a Gibson Explorer
I’m totally cranky-nerding out but Firebird pickups are NOT mini-humbuckers! Does THAT particular custom shop have mini humbuckers (and if so, why is it a good example of a Firebird?), or is the official Gibson guy talking out of his ass?!? This is not nearly the big deal I’m making it out to be so feel free to ignore me, Gibson guy. We all make mistakes. The Firebird pickup is just my favorite and this is the internet 🧐
@@mangomango6746 gibson is not a cult ... these are tools ... the working musician is getting away of gibson because of the ridiculous prices and the not to modern standart features

No one knows they're an Explorer player until they own one. They are sneaky comfortable and well balanced. Never touched one and then picked one up at a store and it was added to the arsenal quickly. You just can't beat Gibson's Classic White. 🤌

I want a 339, a firebird, and 54 reissue custom with the staple pickup. May take a few years. But It'll be worth the wait.
Definitely worth the wait, my friend!

I absolutely love Gibson guitars. 335, LP, the SG!, V, and Firebird my favorites!
Thanks for watching
...and Explorer¡! 😅
I have 2 les Paul’s and 1 SG. Best guitars I’ve ever owned. Hopefully I can get my hands a solid white 70’s Flying V in the future 🤘
At these new prices, I'm gonna guess the right Gibson for me will be USED!
@@johnsmith-ug5tpyou can’t argue they’ve always been historically high priced lol
Used doesn't help much with Gibson. They hold their value. Go to far back and it starts going up.
Les Paul studios are $800 all day used.
I've found local sellers listing LP Studio's and Tributes for just over or under 1K. It's a great place to start.
That firebird looks like Brian Rays with that strong bright red.

The korina explorer is my dream guitar. I love the 50s Les paul though. Great sounds coming from Gibson
Both great guitars!
Oh' man, and that tasty korina "V"! 😮

I have the 2018 Gibson Heavy Metal Flying V and the Adam Jones Les Paul Standard. Think I have what I need.
They are two AWESOME guitars! I need that AJ LP in my life.
Great single coil guitars are Strats too. Don't get me wrong, I love my Gibsons but I equally love my Strats...
Steticly, that LP Cherry sunburst is the best Gibson®️ guitar of the year for me.
