Welcome to Moat Cottage Homesteading, I'm Elissa and here at Moat Cottage, we raise and grow and process some of our own free range meat, organic vegetables and fruit. We grow all of our herbs for both eating and medicinal purposes as well as hunt, fish and forage.
Our goal each season is to preserve our produce for the year ahead by canning, dehydrating, fermenting and freezing and we work on being prepared for emergency situations.
Avoiding single use plastic, chemicals and artificial fragrances is important to us and we are trying to live an older style life, balanced with this modern world.

That thunder made me jump. Haha. Wow , that was a sneaky big storm , thankfully the ducks didn't argue about an early bedtime. Your pantry is looking full and beautiful. We are seeing more and more actual rabbits up here in south East qld , I don't quite trust them or hares for myself but I regularly harvest them and fresh roadkill wallabies for our animals. I should teach myself what to look for with the rabbits , that's a skill I could use. Thank you for sharing, I hope your humidity and pests aren't too bad , it's a challenging weather year for sure ❤❤

Oh Elissa, I was just thinking of you yesterday and wondering if you were ok....but that storm would have been a lot to deal with. Your ducks are adorable just waddling inside their house on your command... I love them!! My tomatoes are so slow coming on, and I just didn't plant as many because I still have some in the freezer I need to process from last year. Your garden looks beautiful as always. Take care lovely xx Cathi xx

Great advice. Still don't have a job yet but applied for the 10th job. With the first 9 I haven't gotten an interview. Been hanging out with my sister the past few days. It is always nice she is my best friend. Ultimately, we'll be split up since she wants to live in a big city and I want to live in the country.

G'day Elissa, that storm looked pretty crazy, sorry you got damage to your roof. It's great you have a good supply of yabbies and rabbits close by. It been really hot 🥵 this summer and really dry it's now over 5 months without rain. God bless you.🦘👍

You’re harvesting so much on your small Homestead.
I’m inspired to plant more, thanks

I love your channel & love being able to learn from a fellow Aussie ❤ I would love it if you could do a video on making your sage sticks (had a quick look but couldn't see one 😊) Sending love & gratitude ❤

Thank you Kate, I am making Sage Sticks in this vlog ruclips.net/video/qkbzNHQZ_90/видео.htmlsi=FzdvLVasUMsr3RKd
I dry them in either a dehydrator or in a paper bag, in the car or hot room. In the dry regions, like the southern states are.
I hope this helps for now.

    Love this.
That storm looked ferocious though! Glad your birds were safely locked up for their early bedtime.
