Of all the rabbit holes you’ve gone down, I dare say this will be the deepest and most crowded! The Villarreal sisters rescued me from the classic rock wasteland I’d been floundering in for 35 years! They are the real deal!
It's also the coolest and funnest (yes, i'm inventing words now...) rabbit hole, I'm 5 years in and still haven't found the end... LoL!!!

The Warning is a band of 3 sisters. Daniela, Paulina, and Alejandra. They live in Monterrey, Mexico and have been rocking out as a band since 2012 (when they were 12, 10, and 7 years old)! Their parents loved music and they grew up watching and listening to rock concerts. Daniela (Dany) and Paulina (Pau) attended a music initiation class when they were 5 and 3 respectively. Alejandra (Ale’) attended the same class when she was old enough. They loved it. They all started classical piano lessons when they were between 6 and 7 years old. When Dany was 7 their dad bought them the Rock Band video game and they absolutely fell in love with rock music and performing on stage…. even though it was just a game. When Dany was 8 years old her dad asked her if she wanted to learn another instrument, along with piano. She chose the guitar. Pau chose the drums when she was 6, and Ale’ chose the bass at 6 (but was too small to play it until she was 7). Ale’ had been playing bass for about 1 month when they decided to play together and that was when the band was formed. In 2023 they celebrated 10 years as
The Warning”.
It is important to understand that their parents never pushed them to do this. This project was 100% the girl’s decision. Their parents completely supported them but never pushed them.
In 2014 they made a video to send to their grandparents to show them how they had progressed in their playing. The video was too big to just email so their dad uploaded it onto RUclips. It was a cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman and it went viral! To date it has well over 25 million views and was shouted out by Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, as well as many other famous bands. The girls were completely caught off guard by the attention this video got and they had to make a decision- they quit school and started homeschooling in order to devote as much time as possible to their music. They were 100% committed to this project and have never slowed down since (practicing hours every day separately and even more hours together).
In 2015 they released an EP called Escape the Mind. It was a mix of different kinds of songs as they sorted out their musical style.
They released their first album in 2017 called XXI Century Blood (21st Century Blood).
They released their second album in 2018 called Queen of the Murder Scene. It was a concept album telling the story of a young woman’s journey from desire, to love, to infatuation, to obsession, to psychotic, to murder, to remorse, and finally to suicide. It was an amazing album and was up for, and won, many Independent Music awards in 2019.
In 2022 their third album (first since signing to Lava Records) called Error. It is simply amazing!
Dany sings lead on about 75% if the songs. Pau sings lead on about 25% of the songs (either while drumming, or while at the keyboard, or just out front). Ale’ is a little shy about singing lead but steps in and sings lead when needed. All 3 can literally jump in and sing lead on any song if needed (with no drop-off in quality) and their harmonies in songs are simply amazing!
They have all given master classes on their instruments and song writing and performing (even as young as 18 years old).
They have opened for several great bands including Alice Cooper, Def Leopard, Stryper, The Foo Fighters, The Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, Three Days Grace, Guns n Roses, and their absolute idols Muse. In 2022 they played 103 concerts in South American and North America. In 2023 they played 75 concerts dates in 13 different countries all over the world.
The band was names “Best Live Band” for 2023.
Paulina (drummer) was named “Up and Coming Drummer” for 2023
Paulina was also named “Best Rock Drummer” for 2023 by Drumeo Magazine.

Bonus- In 2021 Metallica asked 53 artists (including The Warning) to take any of the 12 iconic songs from their Black album and do a cover (any way they wanted to) for their Black List album, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Black album. Alessia Cara (Canadian pop star) was also asked to participate but had no idea what to do. Because she shares the same management group as The Warning, she contacted them for help. It was difficult to do as Alessia was in Canada and The Warning were in Mexico and travel with COVID was not happening. They made it work and developed/recorded this completely re-imagined song in one week. They created the music video with the same logistical restrictions. Because of that you will see that Alessia appears as a projection on the wall in the video as she was not there. It was recorded in an abandoned textile mill outside of Monterrey, Mexico. And also voted Best Up And Coming Drummer by Modern Drummer Magazine 2023. I think they might be the oldest drumming publication. Somebody correct me if i am wrong plz.

I saw somewhere they were voted best live band of 2023 but I could be mistaken. I'm 54 and I've seen some of the best bands out there but these ladies beat them all IMO.

You need to listen to lots more of The Warning! Try 'Evolve' from the 2023 MTV VMAs, 'Z' from Teatro Metropolitan, and 'Dust to Dust' with the drummer singing lead while still drumming furiously. And it's the intro to a concept album, _Queen of the Murder Scene,_ which tells the story of a girl going from unrequited love to obsession, stalking, murder, and then a battle against her evil side for her soul. Written by these young ladies when they were mid-teens at the oldest.
From the talk about the drum around 6:30, it sounds like the Gear Masters videos (at least Pau's) would be good choices too.
Classic rock sound with elements of punk, pop, grunge, even a little metal. Familiar but unique. Best straight-up rock group I've heard in the last 40 years.

Good ears! Three amazing sisters where no one takes a back seat. All classically trained musicians since they were children. All can sing lead. You should see the drummer Pau (POW!) take lead WHILE drumming! She is a force of nature. The youngest the bassist Ale is a human metronome, perfect timing, perfect pitch. Her bass line forming the foundation or backbone of many of their songs. The oldest lead singer Dany is an incredible storyteller, with her vocal powers and her facial expressions. I don’t think we’ve seen the limits of what she can do as she keeps raising the bar.

I'm 73, never cared for metal/rock that much. I grew up in the 60's and 70's. Seeing these young women grow up practically from when they first started via RUclips makes me feel like their grandfather or some family member. They make me feel so proud that they have become the young women they have. Their live music is more appealing to me but that's must me. I don't know if I've been accepted into the Warning Army yet but I hope I get there before long. I just want to see The Warning make it to the "big stage" as headliners if that's what they want, even though they are such "approachable" people as they are from all reports.

You don't get accepted into The Warning Army. You know your in when that feeling hits you. I'm 68 and can't remember having this much joy with a band. I'm proud of them, too.
I'm 10 years younger than you and I remember seeing the Grateful Dead and meeting people that traveled around the country following the band and I thought it was the greatest thing ever. Now with you tube we can "travel" around the country/world watching the shows and meeting people like you and @billyowell6503 and I feel the same way I did then at 13. This band has a unique way of connecting across generations before they are old enough to actually connect across generations. @@xki3000

Welcome to The Warning. The Warning Army welcomes you to what we believe is the future of rock & roll - The Warning - Three sisters from Monterey Mexico who started playing together when they were children and who have now been making great hard music for more than a decade. With three studio albums, several live concert videos, and a new album on the way (to be released June 28), we think there is plenty of material for you to choose from. They were independent for the first two albums (Kickstarter and crowd-funded), but are now signed to Lava/Republic records.

Alejandra (Ale, pronounced AH-lay, 19yo, bass)
All three sisters sing and all are classically trained on piano.
I am one who believes that live is their magic sauce. The Warning have a sound that is both new and familiar. It is certainly hard rock, but clearly influenced by their love of classic rock, metal, punk, K-pop, indie, grunge, funk, and many other genres including classical music. But they have taken those influences and forged a sound that is uniquely their own, and you know that it is them. At the same time simple and complex.
What does it sound like to me? Refreshing. A sound that has caught my ear and made me interested in rock again after 25+ years of the same old playlist. While together their combined ages are about the same as mine, their musical maturity is exceptionally high.

There are really no bad choices. They are something special live. Their energy, charisma, and musicality really shine when in front of an audience. In the past two years I have flown all over North America and seen them 7 times. Can’t wait for the chance to travel and see them again. The only other band I have traveled like this for in more than 40 years of concert going was Rush.

These ladies are incapable of writing a bad song. Watch the entire concert from Teatro Metropolitan from August of 2022. This is the video I saw 15 months ago that spiralled me into The Warning rabbit hole. There are so many of their songs that take the listener on a musical and lyrical super rollercoaster ride, with slow build ups, pauses, then extreme pounding cords and bass lines. The Warning is a once in a generation phenomenon. I flew down from Portland Oregon with my daughter to see them live over 3 months ago in Tijuana where they started with Disciple. Ale’s bass kicked me in the chest and knocked me over, then Pau beat me over the head with her drums and then Dany finished me off by slaying me with her guitar and vocals. Once you go down The Warning rabbit hole there's no way out, like Black Holes (which is one of my favorite songs of theirs). Warning: you will be innundated by The Warning Army! 🤘⚡

The two rabbit holes I fell in the past year have been Ren and The Warning. They are both such amazing artists. You have no idea how good the Warning is. Best rock band in a generation. So talented and creative and YOUNG. They've been doing it for 10 years, and the oldest sister is only 24! I suggest "Evolve", live at the 2023 MTV VMAs. It's next level.

Im also glad that you 'get it'.
They're not gonna show off and overwhelm you with tons of technical prowess, with flashy solos and very complicated fast paced riffs (although they could if they wanted to). But as you mentioned, they leave little easter eggs here and there, small nuggets that keep the listener on their toes all the while letting the cynic know "yeah, you thought we were a basic rock band?"
Stick around and you'll notice tons of very precise songwriting and compositions with multiple instances that make you rewind.

The thing about The Warning is that whatever song you start with you’ll find the deep rabbit hole beckoning. Every song is fire. Lyrically it’s about being so overwhelmed by feelings and circumstances that you feel like you’re drowning, and that it’s ok to feel that way, you can rise above it. All their lyrics are meaningful and this just scratches the surface. Enormously talented and songwriting second to none. You’ll find yourself pulled in after a few songs. Thanks for checking out these amazing sisters. You’ll never be disappointed.
Speaking of more, check out their recent performances of their songs More and Evolve from the MTV VMAs, and their recent release Hell You Call a Dream from the Pepsi Center CDMX last fall. Their music is a mixture of classic hard rock, heavy metal, punk and alternative but with a pop sensibility in that they know how to write great lyrics, catchy hooks and riffs. Yes, there are a lot of 'little details' that make up their music. Nice to hear you catch and compliment that bass run after Ale's short vocal, not a lot of reactors comment on that. "Sprinkling of Epicness"...you will see how accurate that is if you continue.

I'm 68 and totally relate to the rock vibe that The Warning gives off. I've been listening to them for about 2+ years now and just pre-ordered their new LP "Keep Me Fed" which comes out in June. It's been literally decades since I looked this much forward to a record release. Rock On Warning!

This is one of their more radio friendly songs. One of my favorites is Queen of the Murder Scene. Its blows me away every time. Stick with them live. Its the way.

* a concise history*
*_The Warning_* are Daniella, Paulina, and Alejandra, three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico... you'll see their names and band name abbreviated as DPA or DPA/TW... each goes by a nickname taken from the first part of their names... Dany for Daniella, Pau (like POW!) for Paulina, and Ale (like Ah Leh) for Alejandra...
DPA/TW started with music at a very young age... like 4 and 6 for Pau (drums) and Dany (guitar)... Ale (bass) was still pretty much a newborn... they all started learning and playing classical music on piano... as a family, they used to watch concerts on TV together... music has always been a part of their lives and they are influenced by many bands from years past... then came the game, Rock Band, which Dany and Pau played all the time with Ale watching and clapping along... Pau, at age 6, gravitated to the drums and Dany, at age 8, took up the guitar... Ale was 7 or had just turned 8 when she chose the bass... a few months after Ale started playing the bass, the girls realized they had all they needed to form a band and here we are today...

their 1st EP, _"Escape The Mind"_ (2015), is where their very first experiments now live... each of the girls was given a task by their mentor to write a song individually... then they wrote their first song together... all of these songs are on the EP... it wasn't even going to exist but they decided to figure out how recording was done and here we are...
their 1st album is _"XXI Century Blood"_ (2017) which showcases their early sound which is definitely heard in their music, today... the title song has an OMV which tells a story about technology among other topics... it was nominated for and won several awards when it was released... they are GenZ and this album is the world from their POV and some things they want to change about it... the whole album is fantastic! 😜
their 2nd album, _"Queen of the Murder Scene"_ (2018) (aka QOTMS), is a concept album... read that again... yes, 2nd album - concept album 🤯 it tells the foreboding story of a Queen in love with someone that doesn't know she exists, how quickly things can unravel, and go all much differently than one might imagine... it is a dark and foreboding tale of battles between good and evil over her very soul...
their 2nd EP, _"Mayday"_ (2021) was released as a prelude to their 3rd album, _"Error"_ , mainly to get the music out there... this was during the pandemic when everything was shut down and no bands could do any touring... they had a lot of material and rather than fretting about everything being shut down, they took advantage of it and put all their attention into getting their album done...
their 3rd album, _"Error"_ (2022), is their first album after they signed with a label... they were in negotiations for 7 months(!) before they signed with Lava... the first half of the album was originally released as their 2nd EP, _"Mayday"_ , because the pandemic kinda threw a wrench in things... they turned their attention immediately to getting the whole album out since they could not actively travel and perform... their Metropolitan Theater concert in Mexico City back in 2022 has songs from all three of their albums... all of the songs up, to this point, they wrote, composed, orchestrated, recorded, recorded, etc themselves...
their 4th album, _"Keep Me Fed"_ , is due out June 28, 2024... recently, they released four new and original songs from this upcoming album... those songs are *More* , *S!ck* , *Hell You Call A Dream* (aka HYCAD), and *Qué Más Quieres* which is their 3rd song in Spanish in English, the title of this 4th newly released song translates in English as "What more do you want"... DPA/TW have been experimenting and trying new things... if these four songs are any indication, this is going to be quite the album release!

Completely addicted. Can't get enough. I consume everything I possibly can and want more and more. I used to be normal. Used to listen to listen to fabulous bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Queen. But now.... Someone help me.... I'm a Warning junkie!!!

The Warning are a special band with a great backstory. From going viral when they were all very young with a cover of Enter Sandman 10 years ago, an appearance on Ellen which helped them go to a summer program at the Berkley School of Music, releasing their first EP Escape The Mind in 2015, 2 TEDX talks, their 1st album 21st Century Blood in 2017, 2nd album (a concept album) Queen of the Murder Scene in 2018, signing with Lava Records in 2020, Making their 3rd album Error during the Pandemic and having to wait until 2022 to release it, to now where they are gearing up for the release of their 4th album Keep Me Fed on June 28th 2024. All the while they have honed their craft, finished school through home schooling, toured all over North and south America and now the world, and remained some of the most humble, sweet and caring individuals in rock today. They are already incredible musicians and songwriters at the tender ages on 19, 22, and 24. It will be exciting to see how they evolve. They are a super-group in the making. ⚡

The Villarreal Velez sisters. Daniela (Dany) on guitar, sings lead on most songs. Paulina (Pau pronounced Pow) on drums, sings lead on some. Alejandra (Ale) on bass , mostly backing vocals, will sing lead if need be, usually if Dany is sick or needs a break. Ale's bit of lead vocal here, afaik it's the only pro shot footage of that. Only fan cams exist of her singing lead on a full song. Choke is from their 3rd album, Error. Their 4th album, Keep Me Fed, is due out June 28. Btw, Teatro Metropolitan CDMX = Metopolitan Theater ,Mexico City. They were 22, 20 ,and 17 at this concert, all 22 songs here are awesome.
Been playing together over 10 years, their straight cover of Enter Sandman, at ages 14 12 and 9, was posted for family and friends, and went viral.
FYI, 3 of the best rock musicians and composers on Earth today are these young sisters from Mexico. They wrote and composed two great albums as teenagers in a second language.
Recently they have toured with Halestorm, opened for Guns and Roses and Muse, played some huge festivals and are on a second headline tour of Europe soon.

They make a ton of thunder for just 3 players, with brilliant dynamics and impossible vocals like this song. Imagine singing that run "Let me Drown!" with that power and breath control, over and over, while also playing guitar, in Mexico City at 7000 ft altitude...

You're the first reactor who mentions Pau's upper toms setup that I've seen. Here's my thoughts: 1. She sings lead, while crushing the drums, on a few songs, so the lower front toms allow her to be seen better; 2. She's the shortest of the 3 sisters and she really interacts with the audience, so she can see them better; 3. She started learning drums when she was somewhere between 6 and 8 and told her drum teacher from the beginning that she wanted to sing while playing, so I think has been her setup since the beginning. You'll notice this as well when she was 12 in their viral video cover in 2014 of Enter Sandman.

By now The Warning Army have been here in force. Welcome to the deep, DEEP rabbit hole that is The Warning. NO bad songs is sort of a rule with them. They're best heard LIVE, or through their official concert videos such as the whole 22-song concert Live at Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City (CDMX), 08/29/2022. Every song from that is well performed and recorded. They started at 7, 10, and 12 as a band, performing for parents and friends. The Internet blew up their cover of *Enter Sandman* at 9, 12, and 14. It now has over 25 million hits! Went on the Ellen Degeneres show and cut an EP, *Escape the Mind,* in early 2015. Went to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, that summer. Cut their first independent album, *21st Century Blood,* in 2017. Again, independently wrote, composed, recorded, and performed a ROCK NOVEL, *Queen of the Murder Scene,* in 2018. (That one is mind blowing in its sheer genius lyrics and compositional variety!) In 2020 they signed with Lava Records and recorded their third album, *Error,* released in 2022. *Choke* is from that album. They spent most of 2022 and 2023 touring, writing, and recording their fourth album, due out June 28, called *Keep Me Fed." They have released four singles from it so far, and a fifth one comes out April 5. Be sure to watch the TIDAL *Rising* documentary about The Warning on TIDAL's channel. It's pretty much all been said already, so I'll just add a few recommendations on where to go next: Evolve at the VMAs, Disciple at this same Teatro Met concert, or if you want to hear Pau sing lead, theres Dust To Dust and 23 both again from the Teatro Met concert. There are many, many more I could suggest as they really don't have a single bad song. Basically pick anything by them and it'll be great. There's a very real thing that happens with this band where the last song you've heard by them becomes your favorite. You Have Been Warned!

3 very talented sisters from Mexico. They aren't flashy, everything they do is to serve the song. You get lots of glimpses of their skill but very few flashy displays. Drummer sings lead on somewhere around 20% of their songs. Guitar solos are few and far between, and when they happen they are mostly slower, soulful type. Though Dani has shown she can shred when she wants to.
