- The Balfour Samurai buzz saw makes premium bark less smoker chunks easy! It takes about 5 sticks of firewood to fill a bag of premium smoker chunks and I’ll sell them for $10-$15/bag. Getting over $2/stick! The sawdust is turned into HWM fire starters. It took me about 10 minutes to fill my cart producing well over $100 of product in 20 minutes!

Heath a couple years back I wanted to get a bandsaw mill to mill boards but also to make thin cookies for wedding favors. Ironically my daughter is getting married in 2 weeks and asked me to make her cookies for the centerpiece on tables. The samurai would make perfect cookies with minimal sanding needed. Thanks for sharing!
Tony it definitely will. I plan on getting to that shortly. Next video will be the new splitter! Thanks for watching.
It's simple and works. And it's something you have been asked for too.
A win all around..
Agreed and it’s another reason to use a saw I love! Adding value to a product I already have! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Heck yeah that looks easy! Looking forward to see how they sell for you Heath👍👍
Thanks Jeremiah, I think they’ll sell good. Time will tell. I need to get some of my Hickory done as well.
Keep counting them fingers, there must be a safer way to get that last cut. Maybe an alternative is to split the wood to a longer length depending on your splitter. Stay safe
I was being very cautious with that last cut but yes. I am going to figure out a better way to do it for sure. Thank you for watching and commenting.

Idea: cut two sticks at one time using the second stick to hold the first stick in the right place. Use a full stick to use against the last cut on the other stick. This would be a way to increase production and do it more safely.
Start cutting on the first stick and then start with the 2nd and 1st together. Always add only one stick at a time but they will overlap.
I hope I'm not getting you into trouble. I may not have explained it well. I don't want to be liable for any damages. I have never tested the idea myself.
I actually tried this, it worked okay but I want to come up with something a little better. I’ll figure something out that is efficient and safer.
hi there nice one john
Thanks John. Looking forward to meeting you at the Paul Bunyan show.
How are your wood chunks selling? I’m looking to get into it.
Matt, I’ve only sold a few, however I haven’t marketed them yet. I have used a lot of them myself though lol. I just put them out by the roadside stand. Now that we have the Axis I plan on bundling up some smoker wood, getting more bags of chunks, and getting some chips ready to go, then I will market them all. Not enough time in the day!
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors I gotcha. Yeah that’s why I keep putting it off haha. I can’t keep up with the wood coming in let alone making smaller pieces haha.
For sure, hoping once we have more pieces in place we’ll catch up lol.
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors that’s what I keep saying but I keep adding pieces lol.
It’s definitely fun adding pieces!
I think an electric table saw or sliding miter saw would be much safer and more economical than the diesel tractor.
I have used a circular saw in the past and it seemed to really labor making these cuts. I did pick up a smaller gas Massey Ferguson tractor to run the saw in the future, just have to get some maintenance done to it.
Please get a pusher stick. You make me nervous! 😊
Cheryl, I am going to figure something out. I was definitely watching it close when they got short but it’ll be safer with something to hold it. I’ll be doing it in full daylight as well from now on. It wasn’t as dark as it looked in the recording though. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The first finger usually teaches the lesson
That’s why we have 10. I’m going to figure a better method out to reduce the chance of that. I like my fingers.
Yes please get a pusher stick. Go ahead and make your smoker chips and do it your way. If you are 30 minutes or more away from Ohio wood burners then there shouldn't be any problems with you making chips for smoking. Have a great day be safe.
Thanks and I am definitely going to get a better method before I make more chunks. I’ll get some chips going when I have time.
Nice idea Heath !! Hope they sell well for you 👍🪵🪚👏💵=💰=🏦 Rick
Thanks Rick. I think they will. I still need to get some official stickers/info cards made up for my fire starters, bundles, smoker wood, etc. But getting more done every day.
