Safety is way better on the max then the sig and has better trigger as well. I have both I would take the Ruger any day not to mention the lc9s pro is awesome
@@--emt I carry the LC-9s with the thumb safety. But I am left-handed and it is very convenient when holstering. I flip it on, holster reluctantly and flip it off. Sorry right-handed ones, it doesn't work for you. I am working on moving into the Max-9 early this year. My only holdup is I do not care for Kydex holsters and Desantis hasn't come out with the Inside Heat for the Max yet.
Every sig p365 comes with two mags (tac pack 3) . There is no version that comes with one. Other than that great comparison!! I am really interested in the max9.
The Cabela's deal only has one mag to keep the cost down to $450. I would still buy the Sig over the Ruger and the Ruger over the Smith. If you look for deals you will find them. Ruger and Smith could make a killing on these but not at this price point.
Sig comes with 2 10rd mags, one flush fit and 1 with the pinky extension. I've had mine since July of 2020, love her so much. I'm short and can conceal her nicely.
The Sig comes with at least two magazines no matter what package you get. The caveat is for a short time during the pandemic sig was shipping with one mag in the box and a coupon to get the second one for free at a later date due to them being so far behind.
I both the P365 and the Max-9. I have EDC the Sig for the past three years and I love it for that, but I do not like that it is picky on hollow points. the only ones that have seemed to work well are the Sig 365 HPs and Federal Hydra-shoks. I do love the features of the Sig for tear-down and slim carry. But when it comes to target shooting, I much prefer the trigger and the overall feel of the Max-9. As of yet, I haven't put any hollow points through it so I am not sure what will work best for it.
Every basic p365 package I’ve ever seen (including mine) comes with 2 mags, 10 rounders, $499. I’ve heard there may be a “special” Cabelas version with just 1, but that’s the exception not the rule.
I'm definitely getting the Max to replace my current ankle carry and because I have the Security 9 and I love it. I'm a bit short of cash at the moment so I'm hoping after summer sometime. Gr8 vid. 🔫 🇺🇸

I have a sig p365. Great little gun. The mags are very susceptible to rusting. In fact, I polish all mine, after 2 of them rusted pretty bad. Just bought the Ruger max 9. It's on its way right now to my FFL. The ruger really intrigued me because of the price and the fact its optics ready, and well you can't go wrong with a Ruger.
That's what I was going to comment on. Mine came with two magazines also. I've seen them everywhere online come with two magazines. All my sig Sauer's came with two magazines. Just saying. 😌 P.S. I payed $519.00 at local gun store.
@@USCtrojanFootball1 Was that a recent purchase? I checked all my usual haunts and they said 1 magazine. If it's 2 then that skews it even harder towards the Sig.

ruger max 9 is a nice pistol. perfect round count just like the sig. good trigger. optics ready 499.99 i like the sights on the ruger that co witness the red dot. Dont care for the rail because its a edc pistol. ruger has a good trigger too. Ruger has excellent customer service. 365 is a good pistol but ill go with ruger. you are getting alot for 499.99 guy definitely favor the 365 i would say he is a sig fan
The Ruger looks amazing for the price category. They're really stepping up their game. However, the P365X offers an optics plate, flat trigger, and 10, 12, and 15 round mag options. My P365 goes everywhere with me!
I really like your videos. Very informative. As for the firearms I have a P365 and it came with 2 ten rd magazines, but I got mine in Nov. 2019 before stuff was hard to find. I believe they now come with 1 mag and a coupon to get a 2nd mag free from Sig when they become available due to shortages. As for price when I got mine the normal price was $499.99 but I got mine on a black Friday sale for $399.99 . I'm not sure what the current prices are though since the pandemic started. I wish the Ruger would have been around when I got my P365 because I'm a huge Ruger fan. Anyway thanks for the videos and I hope that my info helps.
Comment from across the pond, from Germany: A very balanced and factual comparison. In particular, I think it's good that the respective version with an additional thumb safety was presented for both pistols. With such sub-compact striker-fired pistols, I consider a manual safety indispensable - the "Glock leg" says hello without such a safety. In Germany, such sub-compact pistols are now almost exclusively available with a manual safety. I even amplify the criticism of the disassembly of the Max 9: Compared to similar pistol models, it is absolutely outdated, much too cumbersome and you have to use an additional tool - if you could at least use a corner of the magazine like with CZ pistols but that's impossible. In Germany, I hardly give the Max 9 a chance compared to the P365, especially since both are currently offered at almost the same price.
@@tabooretka The origin doesn't play a big role, especially since the Sig is also manufactured in the USA (there is no longer a Sig factory in Germany). As described, it is because the Sig is easier to disassemble. The Sig also comes in a higher quality container. If the Ruger were significantly cheaper in Germany, it would have a better chance.
@@tabooretka The currently lowest price in Germany for a Ruger Max 9 with a manual safety is 695 euros and for a Sig P365 MS (manual safety) 699 euros, so only a marginal difference of 5 euros. In Germany it is required by law that every firearm, including a pistol, be kept in a gun safe at home. A lockable container/lockable box must be used to transport a pistol to the shooting range, to the gunsmith or to the hunting area. This means that you still have to buy a container/box for the Ruger Max 9, while the Sig is already delivered in such a container/box. In addition, the Sig is easier to disassemble. The reasons now described in more detail make it clear why the Ruger Max 9 hardly has a chance against the Sig P365 in Germany.
1) ) The prices of firearms in Germany are set by arms dealers and have nothing to do with socialism at all. 2) Germany is not a socialist but a democratic country, but its gun laws are much (in my opinion rightly so) stricter than the lax gun laws in many US states. But I won't discuss that any further here. 3) I repeat once again that the plastic box of the Sig P365 is a sales advantage over the cardboard box of the Ruger Max 9, at least in Germany, when the prices of both pistols are almost identical. If a lockable plastic box is sufficient for legally compliant transport, I will not buy any other metal container, which would certainly be more expensive than 10 euros in Germany. And again: I have to buy a box for the Ruger, regardless of the type! 4) Final summary from my side: At almost the same price, the Ruger Max 9 is the worse choice in Germany compared to the Sig P365 because of the more complicated disassembly and poorer accessories. End of discussion for me. Btw, in Germany the Sig always comes with 2 magazines like the Ruger and not just one as stated in the video.
Anyone else have both and have a preference? Just got the Ruger and shot it and the Sig p365 back to back, and was surprised that I love them both but actually prefer the Ruger

It’s not an option, the Sig 365 has always came with a 10 round flush fit and a 10 round with pinky extension...never a 12 round unless it’s the Tac-PAC.
first, i really appreciate your videos. i am interested in the ruger but cant find one. i tried a 365 .it was too small for my hand and i bought a hellcat. i wish there was a measurement of the grip overall. my shield 45 feels best in hand for a single stack. more front to back thickness. i think thats a smart way to make them slim but still shootable.thanks again
That's kinda interesting. When I bought my 365 I had the chance to hold both the Sig and the Hellcat and the Springfield felt like a brick to me. I have XL to 2XL glove sized hands. Just kinda shows you really need to actually handle these guns to make an actual decision. Very subjective.
@@TheEndwrench that's true, very subjective. I think my palms are big and fingers average. I also wear an XL glove, but I have a little space in fingers. Justin opinion has a grip index that I think is helpful. I have a db9 gen 4 and I can't hold it well.
Great head-to-head. I like that you weighed them. I also expected the P365 to weigh less and was definitely surprised. Estimating around .4 oz per rd, you'd probably end up around 24 oz fully loaded. Then shave about 1.0-1.5 oz with the 10 rd mag accounting for -2 rds and the slightly lighter mag. Which trigger do you prefer between the Shield 9 Plus, the Max-9, and the P365?
So far they're all pretty similar but I have a few more videos coming out that should help with the comparison between them. I also have another Contender I'm entering into this competition
I preferred the G48 however the Ruger interests me, seeing as the optic cut and trit sight are standard. Cool that semi double stack compact optics ready pistols are in vogue, wow that was a lot to try to describe.
Great in depth review. This video should do really well brother. Two incredible carry options. You know which one I am bias to but would love to shoot that Ruger🤙. Cheers
My sig came.with 3 12rd mags.. and I bought 2 15 rd mags.. gonna buy a hellcat or max 9 in next couple weeks... I love the sig. Just want to try something else.
Damm man great video, Not be all in your business but you must be doing well to get all these firearms.. You definitely my go to channel now for Firearms... On a side buy a brother that Walther PDP.... Lol
Thanks man, I appreciate that. I do what I can to get that extra income in, the more paper flowing in the better. I've been getting a lot of mixed reactions on that Walther I noticed lol
@@TheJay1976 yeah some of the reactions are really good in summer really bad but it seems like the bad ones are people who haven't had Hands-On with it yet or just don't like certain things about it. Myself I absolutely love it and most of the people that I've talked to in person seemed to love it as well
My SIG p365 was $499 w/2 mags. The only thing that makes the ruger more affordable is because it comes with the baseplate for optics whereas if you get the sig with that same baseplate it will live in cost more. However I would never purchase a small compact carry pistol just to mount a bulky optic on it. I wish ruger would have left out the optics portion and then they probably could have priced that pistol under $400.
I'm interested in grip angle, and balance (pointability) .. that has to do with how natural the sights return to target and has everything to do with slide mass (which is a hell of a lot more important that magazine weight) and center of gravity of the slide .. does it point high or low. Why would you consider magazine weight a variable of comparison .. it changes with every damn shot.
I consider the mag weight in regards to if you're carrying extra magazines. You much weight are you tossing in your pocket/bag. A fully loaded mag can be just enough weight to yank off your shorts if you aren't careful.
Both appear to have manual safeties, BUT: I know you can rack the slide with the safety engaged on the Sig. How about the Ruger, or is the slide locked when the safety is engaged?
I know right? Out of all, the guns I have, I maybe only have 1 or 2 percent because it was a case I could use for something. The optic cut standard alone is a cool feature. The max 9 is a great gun. It shoots great. 10 round mag us to small for my hand (have large hands), 12 rounder feels good and disappears in my pocket
Another punch pin takedown? Even the SR series had a pin that you could snap out with your thumb and the American had a lever. Too many people have solved that problem. The only thing that's going to be an obvious advantage for the Ruger is the cost of the magazines.
Interesting. Having large hands I absolutely despise the Sig beyond belief. The hellcat is light years away better and I bet the shield plus is even better, I find the shield comfortable.
Agreed. If unless aftermarket support and options are your primary concern, I'd still take the other options over the P365. You either get higher capacity, a larger grip, or other options comes in at a cheaper price. An optics ready Hellcat is $70 cheaper than a standard P365 in my area (Jacksonville, FL). I'd also take the Sig P365 XL over the standard P365 all day.
@@Slavinatorski Sold out in my area but it is out there. Nothing wrong with Ruger or Smith. I have a shield but don't consider it as reliable or sturdy as the P364. If you look The XL has been down to $479. I would not put either of the two new guns in the same class as Sig or Springfield. I would buy the Ruger but not at the same price as a Sig.
When you have constant problems and have to send your gun back numerous times so you have no gun you will wish you spent 100 dollars more on the Sig. There is a reason the military and police don't use Ruger. I own guns by both. All Sig guns are good , Ruger has some that are good , but a quick replay to the 365 for sales usually ends up with recalls.
Umm, you know Sig has had its share of problems. I waited till they ironed out the firing pin problems before buying my 365 then I still had to send it back because the tridium sights went south. I've never had to send a Ruger back and I own several.
I own several rugers from handguns to ar15s. I shoot ALOT. I personally hff Ave never had any issues, but it's nice knowing that ruger has THE BEST CS, and you'll get it back quickly should something arise. That peace of mind is very nice
I really like Ruger guns but if l have a choice between a Sig or a Ruger I'm taking the Sig my Sig P365 was 499 dollars at rural king and while the optics cut on the top of the gun is cool on the Ruger but on a gun this size it's nothing I'd really ever use now on something with a 4 or 5 inch barreled gun or longer maybe not on a 3 inch barreled gun for me
Biggest benefit of a red dot on a pistol is two-eyes open with a single focal point. I put an RMR on my Glock and absolutely love it. When in a defensive encounter, your brain will naturally want to focus on the threat, and not a front sight post. The red dot allows you to focus on the threat and overlay the red dot. I'll always put a red dot on my defensive pistols from now on, whatever the barrel length.
@@chrisbunn2747 makes my gun bigger harder to conceal and it's also something that can fail but l get your point and have used Red Dot optics and do like them and l do see the advantages if in a fire fight at 25 yards or more against a another person shooting at you but most self-defense situations are only going to be 2 yards or less making it pretty useless plus if you shoot someone who is not armed with a firearm over 2 yards you'll be looking in between bars guaranteed because they will say that person is not a threat to you unless he or she has entered your home uninvited then it's different but out and about on the street shooting someone not armed with a firearm over 2 yards is going to be a huge mistake police will investigate and know exactly how far the bullet from your gun has traveled from the end of the barrel to the persons body who has been shot and if it's over 2 yards your now the criminal if he's not armed with a gun today if being robbed by someone with a knife or club you literally need to be in a physical struggle up close in your face to justify using your firearm in self-defense
The P365 actually comes with 2 10 rounders, 1 with a pinky extension, which might make it look like its a 12 rounder. The tacpac comes with 3 12 round mags

@@cristianespinal9917 lmao!!! Yes they do, and my wallet pulled a knife on me in my sleep the other day lol
My 365 not the tack pack Came with a 10 round flush and a 12 round
Been looking for the max9. Only one place got 2 and immediately sold them. No one else has gotten them here.
I preferred the G48 however the Ruger interests me, seeing as the optic cut and trit sight are standard. Cool that semi double stack compact optics ready pistols are in vogue, wow that was a lot to try to describe.
Haha that was definitely a mouthful and I'm kind of digging this new fad myself.
I'm kind of leaning toward a 365xl. I already have a g43 and cw9 for tiny pocket guns.
I bought mine about a year ago and haven't any issues yet.
I got the 365 and sold my 43 and hellcat
Great in depth review. This video should do really well brother. Two incredible carry options. You know which one I am bias to but would love to shoot that Ruger🤙. Cheers
Thank you very much! For sure brother, you're the one that suggested I try out the p365 and I'm glad you did. I absolutely love it!
The sign is a little heavier because it's got a stanless slide
My sig came.with 3 12rd mags.. and I bought 2 15 rd mags.. gonna buy a hellcat or max 9 in next couple weeks... I love the sig. Just want to try something else.
Both the Hellcat and the Max 9 are good options as well. I've been carrying my Hellcat for a little over a month now and barely know it's there.
@@Slavinatorski leaning towards hellcat .. mostly because of the take down. That ruger take down is seems bad
@@dasshape00 I much prefer the Hellcat's takedown.
Ruger Max 9 vs Sig 365 XL
Damm man great video, Not be all in your business but you must be doing well to get all these firearms.. You definitely my go to channel now for Firearms... On a side buy a brother that Walther PDP.... Lol
Thanks man, I appreciate that. I do what I can to get that extra income in, the more paper flowing in the better. I've been getting a lot of mixed reactions on that Walther I noticed lol
@@Slavinatorski like bad reactions, the gun looks amazing can't wait to shoot one
@@TheJay1976 yeah some of the reactions are really good in summer really bad but it seems like the bad ones are people who haven't had Hands-On with it yet or just don't like certain things about it. Myself I absolutely love it and most of the people that I've talked to in person seemed to love it as well
The Sig comes with 2 mags a 10 rd flush and a 10 round with pinky extender!!!
I received a 10 and 12 round with both of the p365 I bought...
It looks like they come in all different varieties of mags from everyone's reports.
Would you say the shield+ has the best trigger out of them all?
So far I wouldnt argue against that at all
No, the Sig has the best trigger by far
I dont think you mentioned the difference in the trigger.
Sig 365 comes with 2 mags. If you bought one new and not used and it came with only one then the other was stolen at the store.
Thats a really good point, it would be much more budget friendly that way.
Not gonna talk about the triggers?
I did a side by side on them, or are you asking about something else regarding the triggers?
My 365 came with 2 10 rnd mags
Both appear to have manual safeties, BUT: I know you can rack the slide with the safety engaged on the Sig. How about the Ruger, or is the slide locked when the safety is engaged?
For the Ruger if you engage the manual safety it locks down the slide as well so you can't charge it.
@@Slavinatorski Thank you for the reply
@@virginia7370 No problem at all
Ruger has a pro model(3503) no safety
dang the sig comes in a nice box....while ruger only give us a cardboard box lol
Great fare video ..
SIG p365 in Tac Pack...3....12 round mags $499... Oh baby!
The sign p365 is a good shooter best shooting 9 that I ever shot
Interesting. Having large hands I absolutely despise the Sig beyond belief. The hellcat is light years away better and I bet the shield plus is even better, I find the shield comfortable.
Yep the new shield 🛡 plus is My favorite
How about the triggers??
The sig has an accessory rail. The tiger does not
I got 2 clips w my sig (Massachusetts)
The Ruger is also not +P rated. Ruger suggests that you do not use it in the Max9. I’ll take the Sig
Digging the content brother
Thank you very much, I hope you continue to enjoy it. A bunch more planned!!
The Sig comes with 2 mags
I got 3 12 rounders with mine
The shine on the max9 actually defeats the ccw purpose a lil bit to me, and no carrying case to bring to the range, that's a deal breaker combo imo.
Sorry din't wait till the vid was over. lol
No worries lol
Sig comes with 2 mags
Thats much better of it does. Everywhere I was checking online shows it only comes with 1.
My P365 came with two 10 round magazines and l purchased two 12 round magazines separately
My Sig P365 came with two magazines purchased two months ago. Two ten rounders one flat and the other with the pinky extension.
Why didn’t you take them to the range? Is The Ruger a natural shooter like the Sig is?
@@roberterickson6394 Haven't had a chance to yet but that's coming soon. I want to bring them all at once and feel them out.
Cabela's has the P365 for $450
Now thats a sweet flipping deal!!
I still see the Sig as the iPhone of the pack, everything else is Androids to me
When you have constant problems and have to send your gun back numerous times so you have no gun you will wish you spent 100 dollars more on the Sig.
The p365 comes with a 10 and 12 round mags. The tacpac adds one additional 10 round mag.
That's what I thought too. My p365 XL came with 2 12 round mags
The P365 actually comes with 2 10 rounders, 1 with a pinky extension, which might make it look like its a 12 rounder. The tacpac comes with 3 12 round mags
I paid $500 for my sig
P365 all day. doubt me, hold and shoot both, you'll see. Dont let $50 - $100 make this decision. The sig is a much better option especially for EDC.
$50 says the Ruger is snappy as hell. LCP II, LC9S are both snappy. Hellcat is snappy as well. P365 I can shoot all day.
Even my G43x is snappier than the Sig.
Rent before you buy. Just saying. 🇺🇸
Ruger
Ruger triggers suck
I got 2 mags with my Sig p365
