Dogs are great, but Jesus they require so much work and attention. Its so hard My best dog was a Jack Russell terrier i swear that dog was really a human. He was so smart he understand everything i said. He was with me for over 10 years and didn't do anything wrong EVER. I could left the door open and tell him "Dont go out" and he wont. He didn't even needs a collar in the street. I got a bunch of stories about him. I do my grocery shopping once a week and of course in going with my dog. When we arrive to the places i just put my knee and the floor and tell him "Sit and wait for me. HERE". Go in do my shopping for 15-20 minutes and every time he was sitting waiting in the same spot without making a noise. He was incredible
Maybe the mother of your dog the owner they treat nicely . That's why your dog so sweet and listen to you. Because before I have dog my sister given to me she told me the mother of the dog the owner they treat nicely like human.
Here's one that wasn't mentioned. If you use his crate for keeping him contained at bedtime or while you're at work, DON'T use it for time-out. It will associate the crate with punishment.
Both food and praise are positive reinforcements, and are powerful tools. Some dogs have more food drive, and for them the use of food is very effective. It sounds like your trainer is skilled, and may have the expertise to do more with praise that the average new pet owner does. I think either positive approach is fine, as long as it's done correctly. I think the long term goal of using the "food work" should be to wean the puppy off of the food treats, replacing them with other positive reinforcements like praise and play. But in the short term, using food is a great approach.
Just got a new puppy and i was really having a hard since its my first time being an owner, so im really thankful that i saw this vid and i will really follow it😊
This video came out just at the right time, because recently I adopted a puppy. More importantly, I was doing some training in some wrong ways which were stand corrected by watching this video. A big THANKS Brigh Side, you are awesome.
We had a dog trainer who told us to cradle our puppy. This really works. Take your puppy in your arms and cradle him or her belly up like a mother would cradle an infant. This calms the dog down and lets the dog know who's boss.
I got my Collie at about 9 weeks old. It seemed to take FOREVER to house train him then - at about 4 1/2 to 5 months old - it's like it suddenly ALL clicked, and he didn't have an accident in the house again, and would come up to me and bark to go outside. ANYONE who's ever house trained a puppy knows that's the HALLELUYAH moment !!! LOL
Don’t use a crate as punishment! It should be safe, comfortable place for a dog, not somewhere you throw them when they’re bad. Your dog will learn that crates are unpleasant places and won’t be as nice to bring on trips to the vet or anywhere else.
Amy I was thinking the same thing. But my bathroom has uneven walls that my puppy will chew. So I thought of getting a really small crate (the one that he has is gigantic for a small dog) so maybe I’ll do that and give it a try?
@ the 3 min mark when it says place the dog in the bathroom or a dog crate don't use the crate because crates shouldn't be used as part of a punishment since crates should be safe places.
Pretty easy just punish them for doing bad things. I own a big dog he does not pull on a leash. They will like the person that treats them the worst. They are pack animals the leader will always respect
Not true, unless u mean doing whatever they want. It’s like leaving your child to do whatever they want hoping they won’t do anything that will hurt them or others. Part of loving a child or a pet is correct training.
Crystal you can use a 🐀toy and when you see him playing with it and what knot( in the moment) ...just shout NO! At him...remember it has to be at exactly the moment and that goes for everything you don't want him to do so👍.
Whenever I tried the ‘yelping’ technique, it just backfired and made the bite stronger. I found this out when my daughter tried this and she came to me in tears.
Hello h have question if i want by kangal dog what should i do for him to understanding me at all like when i said stop he do when i said sitdown he do when i said come and go he do please answer me and thank you
My dog since he was a puppy has barked at people while he was in my semi driving down the road and then when we were parked if people came close to the semi he would bark at people but now that I'm not driving semi anymore I cannot break him of barking at people in the car so can somebody give me some insight or an idea on how to stop him of not barking in the car because I've even had police officers tell me that I had to go get him registered with the humane society as a vicious dog but he's not because once I get him out of the car with the police officer or with people he's a sweetheart he licks them he cuddles them and they see that he's a he's everything that they didn't expect so again could somebody give me some insight I would appreciate it
If you and your puppy spent most of your time together but weren't around other people, other dogs, etc, he probably has some socialization issues. Look for a trainer in your area that can do some remedial socialization. It sounds like he's a little territorial -- the car/truck are his space, and other people aren't welcome. Once he's out of his space, he's meeting people on neutral territory that he doesn't need to defend. (I'm not a trainer -- that's just my speculation.)
Sounds like barrier frustration to me. It's a common problem and dogs can absolutely go ballistic behind fences, windows, etc. but be completely fine once that barrier isn't there anymore. You'll need to ask yourself "why" he acts that way, what emotion is driving him. Is it in any way fear or anxiety, or is he simply over-excited? Don't mistake reactivity for aggression... they are in no way the same thing, but know that they can sometimes show up in the same situation. If your dog is 100% great with everyone outside of the car, I'd chock it down to barrier frustration. How long has he had the habit?

“Don’t stare down at your puppy” Oh darn.. I was doing this last night when he was being bad. 👀
I trained my puppy with treats. So easy to teach them tricks with a treat they love
We took our pup to a dog trainer and she uses no treats at all, just praise.
