Thank you for such a wonderful flight! you make it seem to easy (but thanks for keeping in the couple of mistakes :D), subscribed and looking forward to more!
Loved the passion and excitement Peter. The bitrate was low, but the kid in the sweet shop approach made up for it lol. 😁👍I cannot understand why so many people are knocking the sim, and complaining. Well I can, they spent £1000's on Xplane 😂Vatsim - VFR/IFR around the UK in the A2A 182 Skylane. I cannot wait. I'm like the kid in a sweet shop just thinking about it.
I had friend that owned a 152. His wife didn't like it that much because she thought it was too cramped. I know he sold it recently. I think he owns a Cirrus now.
I appreciate this video a lot because as I am doing a cross USA tour in a 152 I have had mostly VFR days but I know that won't last forever and I had a panic moment wondering if I could fly IFR in the plane or would have to roleplay sitting at an airport for a few days till weather clears.
No worries! You know the first time I tried vatsim I was the same, I accidentally took off THE WRONG WAY on stansted runway in a C152 in front of a line of 737's that were sitting there watching me. It was super embarressing LOL. You get used to it quickly though don't worry. Main thing is just to start at a small airport without much traffic and put in flightplan details that your a beginner. Maybe join the CIX VFR virtual club if you are UK based as they are great for helping new people on vatsim.
Very nice buddy, I have only been on vatsim in VFR, but I have always been tempted to try IFR but in smaller planes like this. Good to see you flying FS2020 👍
It tells you on the checklist (well it does on the 172) to pull the fuel cut off as part of the pre-flight. But it doesn't tell you to push it back in lol. I have seen so many people (including myself) caught out by this. 🤦♂️😊
@@reptilerick The built in checklist on the G1000 172, it asks you to pull the fuel cut off, right near the start. Pre Flight I think. I have seen people doing it on RUclips as well lol. It might actually say "check" the fuel cut off is not pulled out, but I and others have read it wrong, or its been patched? 😊

Stunning. I used vatsim many years ago on dialup internet. Looking at in in FS2020 it’s a quantum leap from those days. What system spec are you currently running? 👍🍺
yes I think it's a typo as I believe that rich below 3000ft is something I've heard for a while. And what do you mean about 'must use' I did have CIX VFR in the info box of the flight plan?
In your flight plan on vpilot you put Vfr in the flight type. Was that a mistake or is this mandatory when flying vor to vor or with little planes without GPS?
Inside the cockpit? That’s a head tracking device that directly interprets my head movements into the simulator. Go look at ‘TrackIR 5’ by NaturalPoint on google
Peter did you get the feeling the plane took too long - like there was a frps issue without any stutters? That's what happens when I fly the 152. Also no DME - is that standard on a 152?
A lot of planes will get upgrades to their avionics etc, so a classic C152 probably wouldn't have a DME function. And no, I didn't get the sense that I was getting any fps lag, when you fly the C152 don't imagine you'll get anywhere fast.
Hi Peter, pls let us know where to find the resource to learning writing a text version flight plan (just yours, WPT1 DCT WPT2 DCT WPT3...) for vPilot to submit... is there any format requirements for a brand new IFR virtual pilot here?
Good question! I don't know off the top of my head, the way i've done it has just come over years of flying on VATSIM. I think the best place to start would be the vatsim website, and the vatsim forum
@@PeterMatthess I found nothing related in the pilot resources on vatsim website, and not get any time to dive into forums yet. Thanks anyway for your reply, man, btw - very nice video, hope to see more like this.

on a second screen I have an app, which I dragged onto the main screen once or twice called 'Little Navmap' this is a free app you can download and it shows you where you are and it shows you all the navigation beacons and what their frequencies are. Then you just pop the frequency into your NAV1 radio and the NAV1 guage will show you a radial to that beacon. I have a video explaining this I did waaaaay back in the beginning of my channel, I might redo it for MSFS as ppl might want to know how that works.

Peter Matthess you filed VFR on vatsim at 5000 ft, VFR should be at increments of 500 for traffic separation, not trying to be a douche just giving you feedback
@@sidplays77 yup :) I thought (stupidly) that I could get away with it being a VFR flight and then before I began taxing I was like 'nah brah' so changed it to IFR :P
and strictly speaking it wasn't 100% IFR as there was no distance measuring equipment in the C152, so it's hard to tell when you are getting close to a waypoint, Boscome only had a DME. So I kinda used a little visual ques out the window to tell when I was overhead the waypoint and then I just followed the ADF into Bristol from there.

No GPS, no autopilot, just like the good old days. Or at least the golden age of flying.
