spiffing day old chap.
Tus trabajos son maravillosos, me gustaría que lo explicaras en castellano. Muchísimas gracias!!
@@joaquinaguilerademolina4157 Thanks! The video does have Spanish subtitles
Henceforth known as the episode where Steve takes off his baseball cap. What a fun project!
And shocks everyone showing that I’m not bald 🤣
I love how serious Steve looks in all the shots of him wearing the hat
Prop making is a serious gig 🤣
Amazing. Reminds me of Dr. Facilier’s top hat from princess and the frog. AKA-shadow man
I was just thinking that would be the perfect shadowman hat lol
Free template was enough to subscribe the rest of the work is stuff i dont deserve to have for free
I appreciate it! 👍 you can always help me out by sharing my channel with friends or if you can there is a donation page on my website both help me keep this going 🙌
@@SKSProps deffinetly telling people at comic con and will donate when i get a paycheck 😭
Once again you have saved me from having to make my own template so I can make more stuff with less time. Thanks brother!
Glad I could help! 🙌🙌
Watching your paint jobs is the most relaxing and yet most exciting experience! Great build!
Thank you very much 👍👍
Hey, this tutorial and the free template really helped me out! My dad needed 6 little hats done for his job, all in different colors, and he asked me to make them out of foam. Your template was quite great, not gonna lie! Thanks a lot!
That’s awesome!! Glad I could help you out! 🙌
That paint job was awesome, I loved the build! Thanks for sharing Steve
Glad you enjoyed it
Hey! I am planning on making a plague doctor costume for the apocries that my school will host and I'm so thankfull that I stumbled upon this video! It helped a lot!
Awesome! Glad o could help 🙌
That so good Can you make a chang chi 10 rings next please
Thank you for this. My first thought was, Shadow Man! It looks like it's so heavy. Great job.
Thanks for watching!
Love it 😁 the detail you did with the folded 2mm foam at the back of the hat looks amazing!! Great work Steve 🤗🤗
Thank you very much!
Another awesome build, but to me the best part is the painting. I have a lot to learn on the several layers, combining colours to give a highlight, but most importantly, that just a little bit in certain areas is better than a complete overhaul of a single colour.
Awesome! I’m so glad I can help 👍👍
That turned out so cool! That foam fabric technique really looks great. Nicely done!
Thank you very much! 👍
Loved the idea of this build from the thumbnails across social media. Finally got to watching it and really enjoyed the build too. Didn't know you double glued, or that you seem to use super glue more than contact cement. Nice use of varying foam thicknesses too. Definitely using these templates to redo my own SUPER HEAVY cardboard one I did a few years ago! Cheers
Thanks! Yeah I do my double adhesive method quite a bit or use super glue for details. Be sure to tag me when you build yours so I can see it 👍
So pumped to see the new Halloween builds, lasted year’s were so great! The hat is really cool, but the paint job is killer! Great job!
Thanks!
Your artwork is amazing. Love the cartoon look of this top hat it is perfection.
Thank you so much 😀
So talented
That’s an awesome hat design. Christmas top hats will be fun.
Thanks! I can’t wait to see what people do to customize them 👍
let's go! I gonna make the speedwagon hat
Downloading and making NOW!
i use this for my plague docter hat and changed the details nice :D
Awesome tutorial, I love the hat
Thank you! 🙌🙌
I love that Purple color!!!
I had to buy some from Michael's.
This is an excellent hat. I love the cell shading demo also.
Thank you!
Pure Class
I really love your paint jobs.
Thank you!
Amazing and inspiring.
Thank you! 👍
love this build and the style you used ...it looks fantastic .
Thank you!
As always, sir, your paint work is exemplary. Thanks so much for the template; I plan on putting it to good use!

WOW, great job!
Thank you very much!

Very creative. Excellent job.

Love this. Would add some fake gemstones or coins to the skull eye sockets.
Thanks! And cool suggestions 👍
Wooowww beautifull !!
Thank you!
man, you do amazing jobs, try the next time to make a pirate hat like Jack Sparrow's, it would be awesome! from Brazil, we wish you a lot of success!
Jason mask please! I need it for coming Friday (8th)
I usually try to do stuff that's not so readily available. you can buy a Jason mask on amazon for $10 and have it shipped prime
this is so cool
Thanks!
😮 awesome!
Thanks!
Ah ! a sea of thief hat
Looks amazing wanna make one now
Fantastic! Do it!
Love it
Thanks!
Wonderful instructions! I just found your site and have subscribed. I want to make a top hat similar to the one Depp wore in Alice and Wonderland, which means the top needs to be flared. Can you give me a suggestion on how to do this?
Thanks! You’d want to make the top circle first then have panels probably 6” that taper down to a smaller width to get your flair at the top
Amazing 😍
Thanks!
Looks awesome!! Thanks for the tutorial
You’re welcome 👍👍
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ thanks!!!!!
You’re welcome 👍
Nicely done
How hard would an Order of the Owls mask be??
A "Court" of the Owls mask would be pretty easy go check out punished props far cry new dawn mask as a base to work from
Hmm. I've been toying with the idea of making a steampunk costume, since I have a TON of leather. This just might be the push I needed to start working on it.
This is so Awesome
Question? If u use white plasti dip the whole thing could you use alcohol inks on it to do a rub out with rubbing alcohol ? Im new to foam smithing. I usually do latex masks.
I’ve found white plasti dip to never work right it’s always got problems…black is best. But I’d love to hear about latex applications or alcohol inks to this process
I love this build, just wondering how to flare it out for a mad hatter style hat. Smaller base and wider top on the barrel?
I’d keep the base the same but yes flair the top
@@SKSPropswow, quick response!!! Thanks. I’m guessing it’s some trial and error, but once I get the flare correct, a little heat can make it bend for the right effect?
Love this hat! You are super talented and creative! Can you tell me how I can print the pattern? I found the pattern but not sure how to scale it to a regular printer…or would I need to take it to a print place? Any advice from you or the community would be awesome! Thanks 😀
Thanks! Just follow the directions on my website and open the PDF templates in adobe acrobat or adobe reader and click poster in the page size area that scales it properly over several sheets regardless of your paper size
So cool ! great video
Thanks so much!
Can it be used to make fedora hats, sir?
like the one used by Michael Jackson in the smooth criminal music video
Wicked Kool ☠
Thank you very much!
Hey Steve, thanks so much for all of your videos! They are very helpful. If you don't mind answering 2 questions, I would appreciate it immensely! 1. What RPM/speed do you use on your dremel typically? 2. Does using Plasti-Dip get good coverage on builds with lots of folds like that ribbon or does it leave gaps?
First off thanks! I set my Dremel or Foredom to the highest speed it can go I want to say 35000. I do several light coats of plasti vs 1 or two heavy coats that makes sure that it has even coverage and won't run which can happen if added to thick
Do you think 4mm will work for the base hat. 😅 it’s just what I have on hand. I plan to cover it with fabric anyways ?
If you’re covering it with fabric maybe. Worse case you could add a metal wire around the brim to help it keep shape
What about a MacReady hat from The Thing?
really love yalls videos!! I was wondering if it's possible to make Tira's Ring Blade from Soul Calibur. I'm trying to get a costume ready for halloween! :D
Noiiiice!
Thanks!
Steve, i am so happy to find your top hat pattern! I am a costume designer who specializes in victirian and edwardian costumes. I always have a hard thinner find ing good quality top hats in buffet budget. How do i print off your pattern.
Fantastic! Follow the directions on my site and open the pdf in adobe acrobat or adobe reader and click poster in the page size area that scales it properly over several sheets regardless of your paper size
Bello‼️👌🏼💯
Thanks!
I love this an want to make it. However i dont have a printer, if i take it to staples what do i tell them ? How to print it so the dimensions are right ?
Follow the directions on my site and open the pdf in adobe acrobat or adobe reader and click poster in the page size area that scales it properly over several sheets regardless of your paper size
Not first person to say First but interesting vid
Lovely job!! I have a question: if I were to print the template as a whole piece, do you know what size the paper should be?? I'm terrible at cutting and so I was hoping I could do as little of it as possible 😅😅 hope you can help me out 😅
Wether you print it or take it to a print shop follow the directions on my site and click poster in the page size area that scales it properly over several sheets regardless of your paper size
No, I understand that. I did that already. However I think I made a mistake while pasting the sheets to make part A and C… I was hoping to print it as a single big thing to avoid making mistakes by not having to cut or paste anything… But thanks anyway!
i can use this for a shako
Hi sir! May I please ask what program you use to make the templates?
I hand draw the templates then scan and trace them using a pen tool in photoshop
@@SKSProps
Didn’t put in the video but the video creator is SKS Props. If you look up “Top Hat cosplay” then he should be the first one to pop up!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
👍👍👍
How do you flatten a foam roll, it always happens to me and it makes things not line up right.
I lay mine flat with several sheets on top of each other. Usually a couple of 10mm on top. If you want to be faster you can add a little heat with your heat gun and roll it the opposite way that will reset the foam to its normal state of wanting to be flat
how do I turn this pattern to fit my head?
Watch the how to print video. That scales it up and then you cut out the interior to fit you
@@SKSProps thx man also I love all your star wars stuff it amazing!
Do you make hats to sell on commission?
Unfortunately I no longer take public commissions I just don't have the free time. That is why I make these videos and templates for others to build their own
could you make a umbrella academy domino mask please
Did u know the top hat is suppose to be the length of your face...then the rabble started copying their betters and weird weird thing happened.
How do you make a foam sombrero?
I’d probably check out the pirate hat video it’s close in shape so you could change it a bit to make it work
Thank you!!
How do I get the free template
There’s a link in the video description…
I printed out the pattern in a poster but Its still not big enough. I don't want to reprint as it was $20 to print it. What can I do?
I don’t know what you did but you have to Open the pdf in adobe acrobat or adobe reader and “click” poster in the programs print settings
that scales it properly over several sheets
@@SKSProps I sent it to office max to print. I told them it needed to be a poster size, but I'm assuming they didn't open it adobe. Any suggestions besides paying to have it reprinted? Also I'm making this for my new Steampunk White Rabbit costume. I bought white rabbit fabric for the sash. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
@@starrchild2010 you just told them the wrong size to print it at. the template is not “poster” sized. Clicking “poster” in adobe scales it properly regardless of the size of paper you use.
@@SKSProps ok I'll figure it out. I got my EVA for yesterday, but they sent me grey instead of white. Now I have to deal with that.
@@starrchild2010 grey foam is always better than white. White foam for some reason is always a lower density creating more fuzzies and superglues usually have bonding issues
✌🏻❤️💀. 🇨🇦
Pls i need help, how to print the Pdf
Follow the directions on my site and open the pdf in adobe acrobat or adobe reader and click “poster” in print settings that scales it properly regardless of your paper size
