Buddy, you just saved me a couple hundred bucks. Those doggone flat ribbon cables are awful with their little retainers. We bought a used unit and it wouldn't feed material into the rollers. The feed button wasn't working. Opened that thing up with your great instructions and sure enough, one retainer on one end of the flat ribbon cable wasn't seated well at the button assembly end. Problem solved, THANKS SO MUCH!!!
Having cutting issues, just over 1 year old called cricut and was told they dont repair. Your video is very informative. I would like to see more on just adjusting the housing that holds cutting blade. When i apply a small amount of pressure blade cuts all the entire project ,not just half of project
To get the screw out where the cog is, you can get a thin screwdriver down the back of the metal plate holding the motor. slide down infront of the spring. Perfect, straight angle.
I have a explore air one so I followed your instructions (which were very helpful) up until you pull off the cover to find the hidden screw. No matter what I do I can’t take that part off and the door hinge is broken so I need to be able to take the side covers off. Any assistance would be amazing 😊
I was doing the same. you've really just got to do it. you feel like it may break, but it's pins with clips. This video shows it pretty well.. ruclips.net/video/hYMEkjEDn7U/видео.html I got it!
Following along and got to the part where the inside back panel comes off around 1:44 mark and that panel will not come out. Any other suggestions? I'd really appreciate it.
I wish you made house calls!! So frustrating when it works, doesn’t work, works, doesn’t work . . . Arg! I’m afraid that if I begin to take it apart, I’ll never get it back together. Tried to sewing machine repair places but was told only Cricut repairs Cricut. Sounds like I am not alone in this frustration.
I'm having problems where my cricut cut 10 cardstocks and stopped cutting it cuts the right hand side and just scores the rest of the shape would you know why and how to fix? What part needs replacing?
Do you have a video to put the black sensor back in from under the cutter? Mine fell out. I would appreciate any help you can give on this. I'm stuck...haha
Absolutely love this video. Thank you for posting! My machine stopped powering on got a new power cord and everything. The power button flashes for one second then shuts off won’t turn on try to do a hard reset that didn’t work. The light by the blades turns on, so I know there’s some power going to it, any idea how I can fix this? I’m pretty mechanical just need to know what to do.
Hey cool video. Trying it on a Circut Explorer 3 to fix the Silver strip back down. On a side note, will the Air 2 drive belt fit the Explore 3? _ How do you replace that?
Hey, excellent video, I would like to know if you could help me in any way to get the Cricut Explorer Air 2 Belt Motor, There are several alternatives for the Cricut maker but I don't know if it is compatible with the Cricut Explorer Air 2. Thanks in advance.
Got the red non flashing light. I have the unit broke all the way down, I have just the main board and control panel hooked up and powered with red light still on. The capacitors are not blown and I don't see any sign of a burnt chip. Could this be a shorted chip that I can't see? Can you buy just the board replacement?
I had a weird power sensor issue that I could not figure out where the power button and cord adapter box was blinking. Nothing worked I figured the wires weren’t seated or something burnt out. Nothing seemed wrong. Put it back together and same issue. Now I’ll have spare parts 🤦🏻🤷🏻♂️
I need a replacement board for the B side of my cricut explore air 2. The little black part on the board is broken. What can you tell me about it? Is there a possibility to purchase one from you?
Do you have any advice for top door not fully opening on explore air 2? I’m thinking of buying a used one but the top door isn’t fully opening, though machine still works.
Yes. On the back side of the carriage just behind the ribbon cable the spring sits in the circular white plastic part of the carriage and the small white plastic part on top of the spring. When compressed will slide into the metal rail on the backside of the unit. Let me know if that makes sense and I will help you along the way.
Greetings, I congratulate you on your channel. I have a question like that and I have a solid red light. Could it be what idea could you give me to review? Thank you very much.
Hi there. Just saw this video. Do you have a solution for fixing or replacing the Gray rubber rollers on the right and left sides of the roller bar? Not the white star rollers in the middle, I'm referring to the larger two that assist in pulling the mat in and out. Thanking you in advance for any assistance.
Hi Denise, In order to do it properly it requires almost complete disassembly. All covers, both motors, the gears, the belt, the carriage, the carriage rod, the bottom, and one structural side must come off. It sounds like a lot, and it is, but definitely doable. Let me know if you get it off and need a replacement. I have some good used ones if you need.
To replace the rubber rollers you can use a hose used in vehicles and cut the size of the rollers so that they can be used for the cricut. They are more resistant since it is a harder rubber and has threads inside, and it lasts longer.
Hello, my cricut explore air 2 won’t turn on when plugged in. If I push and hold the power cable into the machine, it will turn on and function normally with no problems but if I let go then it shuts off. Any ideas what’s wrong? I’ve tried following your video but couldn’t seem to get the back panel off to then pull of the plastic behind the cutter to see the hidden screws. Thanks in advance.
Hard to say without physical examination/analysis, but could be the switch itself?...?? As for the back plastic, you need to pull up with a little bit of force as it is attached quite firmly. Just be careful not to hurt yourself when doing so.
Hi! Is there anyway you could tel me if it’s possible for one of the clips to brake that the belt would connect to? Or show what it looks like back there? I gave someone a cricut in great condition they got it and claim the screw to connect the belt broke
hi, I've just tried to set up my Cricut for the first time out of the box and the dial button isn't working. any ideas of what it could be or how to fix it? thank you 🙏
There is a small circle cap thing that rides along the track. The spring goes under there and when the housing is removed can go boing and be lost if not careful. Let me know if that helps.
Warning: Do NOT do anything if you have a warranty. There is also a risk of electrocution, shock, death, or permanent damage to self and/or machine. Proceed with caution or contact an authorized service technician. Typically diagnosing is done by fixing one problem at a time and/or testing. If you have any electrical experience you should be able to temporarily test the board by bypassing the DC jack to TP165 and TP168 with 18volts. Make sure you have proper polarity. That will tell you if the jack is the only problem. However, do so at your own risk.
please help! are there screws where the blade and markers go like underneath. my cricut isn’t working and drags through everything as if it is missing screws under there and it doesn’t lift when it needs to. if this makes sense
It doesn't lift? The blade? Not really any screws underneath. I am assuming you are talking about for cutting. Let's isolate the problem. Does the problem occur when using clamp A to draw as well? Try to see. If not then the problem is with the blade or clamp B. If it still does then you may have something stuck underneath and to the carriage. If it is only Clamp B perhaps your blade is dull. Let me know if this helps.
Still not sure. There is a white piece with one screw that stops Clamp A and one for clamp B. There are not really any screws under the carriage. Are you wondering because you reassembled it? Did you try the steps I listed above?
I just recently purchased a renewed cricut on Amazon and my belt is disconnected. The sliver part from one part of the belt is showing...it is in perfect condition but unloose. Is there a way I can connect the belt without disassembling the device completely??
Remove left side. Inspect for wear, breakage, any foreign material/object and replace as needed. Let me know if you need a part and I can probably help you out.
My machine has the problem of the cutting part (motor) what happens is that it turns on but the part where the blade goes does not hold, it only goes up and when it goes down it does not want to go back up to continue with the cut.
Hi. I just purchased a Cricut explore 2. I tried using it for the second time today but the on button doesn’t work. When I plugged in the battery the light of the battery turns on but the Cricut machine itself doesn’t work. Any ideas what to do?.. Thanks!
There are no batteries in the explore. Are you referring to the power supply? Just because the power supply is lit does not mean it works. is it an original adapter? you would need to test for power and trace it. Could be a dc jack, the main board, or?... Does the connection feel tight without a lot of wiggle?
I think so. Eventually I would like to find a good after market affordable source, but probably won't get to that for quite some time. I do however have a few if you would like I can discuss with you. Email me mikebotor@gmail.com.
Even I have a problem of solid red light , I was waiting for you to finish the final statement and boom, your video has ended. What could be the issue and how can I troubleshoot it? P.S. i have already watched your other video and that troubleshooting did help. Is there any problem in power circuit, coz the cricut website says when the solid red issue occurs, it's basically the power issue. The machine could get enough power to light up the red light but not enough power to turn on the motor. What Should I do?
Have you watched this one: ruclips.net/video/U4x5qh58iE8/видео.html. That fully covers one possible cause along with a solution. However there are other problems that can result in the solid red light error that I have covered in depth with no final fix. Those were meant to document as well as aid others with more technical abilities to diagnose.

Thanks a lot I almost broke off the plastic piece because I didn't know about the hidden screw
Oh my! Thank you so much for making this video! Extremely helpful and saved me from buying a new machine!
You are so welcome! Makes it all worth it.
excelente video , pude desalmar mi cricut explor exelentemente y solucionar mi problema con los rodillos
Como pudiste quitar los rodillos ?
Could you make a video disassembling the rollers? for changing rubber rollers
To get the screw out where the cog is, you can get a thin screwdriver down the back of the metal plate holding the motor. slide down infront of the spring. Perfect, straight angle.
At 5:53 you can take off the screw at the top of the white housing with the fins on it and easily move the fins out of the way.
Good point :)
How do you take the housing unit out to fix the sensor

Ok, getting ready to order parts, got the carriage off , but when I did a spring and little white thing fell out.Where does that go
