  • Manufacturer: Leitz, Wetzlar (Germany)
    Magnification: 7x
    Objective Lens Size: 50mm
    Range finding reticle: no
    IR-Detector: no
Specifics: Rare and interesting piece because it has the full manufacturer name on it and also the yellow colour. That´s a bit contradictory because since 1941 all german service binoculars had a 3 letter manufacturer code on them, so this binocular should be dated 1941 or earlier. On the other hand the yellow colour was first used since 1943 under the term "Einheitstarnfarbe Europa" (unit camouflage colour Europe) for binoculars and various other equipment. So what´s the deal here? Is it a fake? I don´t think so but the question is if the yellow colour was used even before 1943 or this binocular might be re-painted later in the war or it might be even a restoration (but then a quite good one - the missing reticle would also speak for it). Tell me what you think!

Thanx for this impressing video . bino - color postwar, besides that VERY nice german Wehrmacht Dienstglas. The 7x50 beh are much better than the 10x50 beh. Just the 10x models of beh ( Leitz ) had too small ocular lenses and a much too small field of view. The 7x50 beh is PERFECT for watching !

I think so , too. At that time ( pre WWII, there wasn´t any late-war tan color " Einheitstarnfarbe Europa, which was used later in 1943 - 1945 .) But the color was painted very good and it looks authentic, even the signs of use look like very old. But this bino was painted black and had a black leatherette around its body, as it left the Leitz company. Besides that original Wehrmacht Dienstglas. Thanx for showing !

@@alfredkonig4639 if this was their original color, you might have Afrika Korp bins in your hands?

@@egrono1 Hi Matthew, no, all binos used in Africa were black. Later, late-1943 - 45 some binos were painted tan ( Einheitstarnfarbe Europa ) . Mayyyyybeeeeee this bino shown here served in Africa, with it`s balcl leatherette and black color . Fact is, that it was painted in tan color after the war , maybe by a dealer or by a collector. The leathertte was cracky and fall apart sometimes. So they removed it and painted everything in tan color. The painting was done perfect and was aged or used for years , because it looks very authentic. Well done. All the best, cheers, Fred
