Oops! lol. This was supposed to be a rough draft, but I accidentally set it to public this morning! So there are a few mistakes, but oh well ITS OUT NOW! lol One correction, Thalassa actually means 'sea' in greek. I think that is where Clarke got the name from.
He was a man of the sea and the stars so it's not surprising he would use a name like that. really enjoyed this. Been a Clarke fan since I was a boy. A long time.
This is one of my favorite Arthur C. Clarke novels. It's very different from his others, and you can tell he wrote it on a beach in Sri Lanka. Great relaxing read.
Loved it! Have read the book "several" times, and I love it. Coupled together with Mike Oldfields album with the same name as the book "The Songs of Distant Earth"..You'll have the best of..ehrm, both worlds. Thank you for posting a beautiful story..My favourite part is the story about Mirissa..She is for years, looking at the brightest star in the nightsky, the plumes from the engines of starship Magellan..And she saw it just before her eyesight failed her.. The book is great, and you're narration is just great!
I 💚 SPOILERS! They get me to books I might have never read. As a Clarke fan, why haven't I read this one already? I love your renditions. Thank You Very Much.
Thats a good idea. TBH I started using it just to avoid copyright strikes since I was basically just taking any pic I could find that would work before that. lol
Every time I see the name Arthur C Clarke I automatically assume Clarke Ashton Smith (Maybe the “c” and “a” make my brain mix them up at a glance) ... but I can say I’ve never regretted my mistake lol Very different writers but both enjoyable.
I've been looking for a story where a space traveller comes back to earth and everyone is young and he is old because they have been using teleportation or something. Sorry it's not much to go off but any help finding it would be appreciated
Ngl thalasa is halarious just like ah take out religion and make rulership chance based rather than merit based and there are no wars or strife 😂 sure bud

It's been said that SODE was Clarke's favorite. That's saying something!

I will have to try that!
I just discovered your channel the other day, and love it! I've already watched/listened-to half of your shows. I'm off to finish the rest!
Thank you for this. It was very enjoyable. I look forward to more.
Excellent story telling
Your channel is amazing and i learn so much from it and now i’m going to read through many amazing new books because of your channel. Thank you!
Great stuff, as always. You're a natural at this.
This was the title of a Mike Oldfield album. I had no idea it was based on a book.
Dude I am so happy to find your channel. What a gem man.
With a bit of tweaking, this could fit in the world of "Rescue Party".
more content plz!!!!! and thank you!

Did you read the book?
Would love a music list of the songs,🤔👍😇☮️🕊️
great story , fantastic landscapes, whos painting are those or are they made in "matrix"
Very well narrated, may I suggest adding AI interpreted text into your visual landscapes to augment them not replace them.
Thats a good idea.

@@SciFiSecrets yeah using the AI generated stuff even the ones you can download and run on your own PC would allow you to get around that.
Love your reviews/summaries!
QUESTION: What music did you use at the end? 😅 it’s beautiful and haunting.
TY!!!
The final 2 songs are "no one in sight" by Jon Bjork, and "progression" by Christoffer Moe Ditlevsen.
@@SciFiSecrets many thanks brother.🙏
What is the sound track playing at around 4:40 🎶
Greatly appreciated. Where are your grafics from?
Midjourney ai.
I'm not an artist, nor rich, so ai was my only non copywrite claimable option.
I think Battle Angel Alita might've borrowed some ideas from this book.

A World Out of Time...by Larry Niven...there may be other books like that you are describing...but that's the first one that comes to mind
Year 3600 ?
U crazy
If I thought it was cool watching everyone on earth getting cooked to death I would also feel guilty after the fact.

These look like AI generated images.
Tool sample.....lol
