That’s my girl!!! 😍 Thank you so much Vanessa, it’s amazing to be able to see her getting groomed, definitely a memory our family will cherish forever❤
I’ll always remember my first time meeting a malamute. I was in the waiting room of the vets, with my dog, and I asked if I could say hello to this huge and very beautiful dog and the owner said yes as she was super friendly. Afterwards, I sat back down in my seat and the malamute dragged her owner off the chair to come and sit by me for more cuddles 😂😂 I was smitten 🥰
Yeah some people are really surprised and intimidated by how big they are. They are strong takes 3 vet techs to cut mines nails. Our last vet visit a little girl was watching him for awhile so I asked if it she wanted to pet him. He's 100 pounds and stood about eye level with her, she even came back later to pet him again. Went to take him to use the bathroom while we waiting a guy was surprised when we meet at the door "D*mn, that's a big a** dog."
What a sweet dog, not even just for a Malamute but for any dog. I think even Girl with the Dogs was surprised, she was expecting the worst at the beginning.
That fur being totally dry underneath is amazing by itself. It's evolved that way to keep them warm even when wet and far below zero. When I had cold hands from newspaper delivery, I'd stick then in our Bernese' fur. But even then, it was hard to get to the warmth.
ive got a Malamute, and we live in Alaska. ill tell ya watching her jump into the ice cold water and then play in snow always amazes me how well adapted she is to the cold.
My dog suffered seizures her whole life and it was impossible to find groomers who would take her on. It makes me happy that you are bringing awareness to this problem and helping other owners who need help! (She has since passed from cancer, but she was the best dog I could have ever asked for)
My father had an epileptic dog. He was born in my bedroom , and because of seizures, my father decided to keep him. He was a good dog that lived to be 15 years old. He was half Sheltie and half Norwegian Elkhound. We had his mother, the sheltie. She was a good dog too.
I'm so sorry for your loss ❤, but well said regarding raising awareness. I had a chocolate Lab who experienced seizures. The first time it happened it scared the heck out of me as I had no idea what was happening to her. I'd never even considered that dogs could have epilepsy. Thankfully our vet was wonderful however, and her episodes were very manageable once we knew what was going on with her. She was otherwise as happy and bouncy as a doggie could be, so thank you too for increasing the awareness.
Vanessa: Malamutes can be stubborn, they can be mouthy… Nala: What are you talking about, I am an angel-ok NOW MA’AM YOU ARE TRYING MY PATIENCE oooh snacks? Ok fine.
i had a malamute up until a few years ago, and whilst i've gotten over her passing to the extent that i'm not actively pondering it anymore, seeing this girl just brought a tear to my eye; it wasn't her coat or her shape or the shedding or anything like that, it was the view at 4:33 or so where you could see the back of her head, where those dumb little dorito ears stick out of her big ol' head and solid neck, like they belong on a dog 2 sizes smaller i used to make fun of my malamute's comparatively little ears all the time and play with them and bother her a bit whilst i was at it, and while i'm very much not a sentimental guy, i wasn't really expecting to get such a punch in the throat from such a dumb source of nostalgia what a dumb thing to feel sad over, haha, 10/10 dog right there
it’s not dumb! i can’t even eat chocolate chip cookies bc the patterns of the chips remind me of my calico cat cookie crumb that i lost too soon. it’s been five years and i still think about her; and we think about them still and get gut punches like this because we loved them deeply and dearly. it’s never gonna be dumb; you miss her. let yourself miss her.
Not dumb at all. A friend of mine, who digs holes and breaks rocks for a living and whose favourite music is hard rock and heavy metal, mourns his malamute kid every single year, taking the time to visit her resting place any time he can. That's how he speaks about her - his kid or his girl. He thinks of her often, even using the memory of her to keep him going when he needs inspiration. I'm not sure it's possible to be too dumb when thinking of our floof families.
My dog had one seizure. We never did find out why despite a full battery of tests; but it was extremely horrifying to experience. I sincerely hope I NEVER see it again.
My girl had 2 seizures when she was younger, both were after something very new and exhausting both physically and mentally, since then she had none. After handful of tests our vets said it was her response to stress of new stuff and it was terrifying seeing my girl in that state (not her on my profile pic)
I hope you never do again! Sometimes it’s environmental, sometimes it’s something they ate, stress can factor as well as age without it being neurological. Paws crossed!
We had a 2 year old labrador who had a seizure at the top of our stairs, falling down the staircase in the process and was unable to walk once the seizure had ended. We rushed her to to our veterinarian, only to have our happy camper bound out of the car, tail furiously wagging and in full use of her legs. She checked out fine, never had another seizure and lived to a ripe old age.
im a hooman who had almost daily seizures, when there is no physical evidence in the brain they call it psuedo-epileptic. im not sure how it works for dogs but in my case treating my stressors did a lot.
We don’t know what causes Nala’s seizures 😞 she has been on medication for 4 years now, everything started when she turned 2, she has a seizure every 2-3 months
I love her expression at the begiining, when you tell her, she needs to get up: "Do I?" So hawty. But overall a very sweet, charming, well behaved dog, despite her sensitive paws. And her cute, fluffly tail is just too adorable!🥰
I have a male malamute and he HATES grooming. Doesn’t get aggressive but is stubborn the whole way through, Malamutes are very independent and it can be hard to work with them, but their independent mouthiness is also my favorite thing about them! Nala is beautiful and did so well despite her grumbling 😂💕
Because our eldest Malamute boy had black claws, used to get the Vets to clip them. We also had a malamute wolf and a Siberian husky so claw clipping was a circus of 3 people holding the mutes while the husky tried to eat all the clippings.
Yeah I have a husky/malamute it takes 3 vet techs to hold him down to cut his nails too...or 2+ hours usually for me to do it and I can only get 3 feet done, now I just pay them to do it.
30+ years ago my sister had 2 wolf hybrids. I remember grooming them in her backyard one day. My goodness, the amount of fur! The entire yard was filled.
I knew a gal on Long Island who spun yarn from the fur from various dogs..she would create hats or scarves from the spun fur..I remember knitting a scarf for a friend from the yarn...that was neat stuff!
@@BigJon410 "Can confirm this". Brushing with shedding comb, had birds lined up behind me grab and fly away when I cleaned the comb. Then later in the year finding the nests lined with it, good times.
This video had my skin itching and I realized I was wiping nonexistent fur off my face during the drying process. 😂 What a sweet doggie! A beauty, too.
As someone who many years ago owned a malamute, yes they are stubborn. I had her in a group obedience class, the trainer told me up front she would be a handful, overall she did well but the trainer said , we got as far as she wanted to go. The trainer initially said as a sled dog, you want one who realizes the ice is thin and refuses to continue as you life depends on it. She was a great dog, there was a fire station about 6 blocks away, I swear she heard the alarm go off and would start to howl.
I would love to watch clean up videos as well as the long format grooms. I think it would be a great addition to this channel to watch the furnado aftermath get cleaned up!
Just did this to my malamute yesterday. Trying to get the undercoat wet is a pain and then we made all the birds in our backyard very happy by making our own furnado.
I couldn't help but chuckle, because for some reason seeing her in the Happy Hoody made me think of a sweet 90 year old Russian babushka going to the market to do some grocery shopping. 🤭
When I was a little girl, we had the best dog ever. Her name was Keesha, and she was a Husky/Malmute mix. She treated me like I was her puppy lol... she wouldn't leave the yard without a leash, would watch the kids and keep them out of trouble, and I never heard her growl once in all her 13 years. Bathing her was, indeed, a nightmare. Everyone got wet and I can still smell the soap. We still find her hair all over the house even a decade after she passed. Fly high Keesha-girl.
I can’t imagine a dog her size having a seizure. It was scary enough with a lean 60lb dog, and I certainly wouldn’t know what to do were it to happen on a grooming table! She’s a very sweet girl and I hope she has many more happy years ahead
@@clarissacareagab I'm so sorry. Our little Chihuahua has seizures and it is so heartbreaking every single time. She's around 10/11 yrs old (a rescue) and a very quiet, shy little girl. And yes, every time she has a seizure she also evacuates her bladder and bowel, but she is just over 5 lbs. I can't imagine what that must be like with a large dog. Especially with such dense fur. Epilepsy specifically is generally a diagnosis of exclusion. There are many reasons dogs can have seizures, some of them not even caused by the brain but you need to do all the necessary lab tests and advanced imaging to rule everything else out. Not a cheap illness to diagnose or manage!
Is it just me or does seeing the dog in a happy hoody always make my day. It's just too funny and cute. Your video's have helped me groom my own dogs and save a whole lot on grooming costs! Thank you
Beautiful dog. I have developed a deeper appreciate for what you do. Especially when you are 4'9, such a small feame for so many large dogs. I'm also becoming a fan of Nonna. Sweet family and incredable food!
such a beautiful malamute, and she looked magnificent at the end after the groom! great job! (and she is actually really well behaved for most of the part in the video... :) )
My friend's old dog was epileptic, and I did witness him have a seizure once during a sleepover; it was indeed very scary. And he was a little 20-pound mini poodle, and on a clear area of the carpeted floor when it happened! I can only imagine how terrifying a seizure would be were it to happen on a grooming table or in the bath, especially with a large dog like a Malamute. Glad to see this lady made it through her groom without such an incident! And my goodness, what a load of fluff!
My sister had the sweetest malamute on planet earth...it went to work with her every day and never made a PEEP unless she was just picked up from daycare. I swear we didn't even know she could bark until daycare happened. She was the most unmalamute malamute. Super calm, laid back, not noisy and just all around amazing dog who loved everyone
I don't know how anyone else's screen looked like but mine screen look like it was snowing. You weren't kidding when you said she was blowing fur. Wow!! I looked at all the fur she blew at the end and it was almost as tall as this big girl! She did very well and looks fantastic!
My family had a male malamute when I was growing up and he was the absolute sweetest boy. He was so patient with me when I was a baby, he would let me crawl over him and would give me little kisses if my face got within range. Big ol' sweetheart with my dad too. He would roll over to receive belly rubs at every opportunity. Also loved to nap in the bathtub so he had some quirks 🤣
At 7 minutes when you started digging into her flanks with the brush, I laughed cause you can immediately HEAR how much hair this animal is holding onto.
My son showed me your channel and I’ve been hooked ever since. I love how careful you are with all the dogs and very proficient! I wish I would of done grooming as a career, you make it look easy. But, from grooming my own cats and dogs I realize how heavy the work actually is, especially washing them.❤🎉
I've been watching your grooming videos for only a few days (maybe 2!) And I'm completely impressed with how caring, loving and professional you are. These vids are amazing! Thank you so much!
I can't believe she blew that much coat!!!! But the photos at the end were hilarious! I used to dog sit for a friend whose Aussie Shepherd had seizures. They didn't want to board him because of the stress that would put him through. So whenever her and her husband went on vacation I got house/dog sit. He was the most enthusiastic Frisbee enthusiast, lol. And his sister was the biggest cuddle bug! Miss you, Cobi and Mia!
I just love your channel! There’s something almost mesmerizing. And you have such a lovely voice and genuine connection with your clients. I think you’re just the best!🎉
idk why but hearing about this poor girl and the seizures has me emotional and reminded me of my late german Shepard who passed a couple years ago at 7. I remember waking up in the middle of the night and sitting with him through the drool and pee making sure he was ok and didn't hurt himself. Worth every second being there for him even though there wasn't much to do.
Aww, watching Vanessa bathe dogs in the shower stall brings back memories of caring for Mom. On bath days, Hubby would "walz" her from her walker to the bath chair, and I'd put on a swimsuit and get right in the shower with Mom to do her bath & shampoo then blow dry and style her hair. We would joke around and tease each other, which helped make the best of the situation. Miss you Mom 🌹♥️🙏
She is beautiful, and I really didn't see any bad behavior . Absolutely fantastic. If I could expect this kind of dog in an Alaskan Malamute for myself, I would get one. Thank you for this enjoyable video!
Both of my dogs are epileptic (different breeds, lucky me!). Fortunately, one of them is super chill and doesn't get stressed about anything, so she doesn't have seizures often. UNFORTUNATELY, the other one has severe separation anxiety and sometimes has seizures in clusters (3 or more in 1 day). His first cluster went on for 24 hours, with a seizure every 20-30 minutes and I had to take him to the hospital. I thought I was going to lose my mind. I don't expect him to live past 10 years old. He's already 7.
My dog has epilepsy as well. My dog gets really stressed at the vet so he has seizures there. Unfortunately he isn’t food motivated either. I’m glad it is just the epilepsy and not more, just on some expensive medication. 😂 glad this girl was pretty calm for her groom. As you probably know many northern breeds hate their paws being touched.
That’s my girl!!! 😍
Thank you so much Vanessa, it’s amazing to be able to see her getting groomed, definitely a memory our family will cherish forever❤

My sister had the sweetest malamute on planet earth...it went to work with her every day and never made a PEEP unless she was just picked up from daycare. I swear we didn't even
know she could bark until daycare happened. She was the most unmalamute malamute. Super calm, laid back, not noisy and just all around amazing dog who loved everyone
So you're saying she was a Mala-mute?
@@orionweiss5418 Good one!😂
She looked so good after your wonderful work.
Wow, she was totally chilled out for everything except the paws.....great job!!!
What a beautiful dog! So glad she did well. Loved the photo at the end:)
I don't know how anyone else's screen looked like but mine screen look like it was snowing. You weren't kidding when you said she was blowing fur. Wow!! I looked at all the fur she blew at the end and it was almost as tall as this big girl! She did very well and looks fantastic!
I wish humans could exibit such stoic and calm patience!! Whatta great baby!
But, from grooming my own cats and dogs I realize how heavy the work actually is, especially washing them.❤🎉
Such a beautiful girl. She's bound to feel better with all that fluff gone
Thank you for all that you do! You're a wonderful human being ❤
I would love to give that majestic beauty a big hug!
You're amazing at your business. You know your craft!
Such a big poofy fluffy adorable sweetheart! ♥️
The markings on her face are so cute! What a sweetheart!
The editing when she says “um, you’re gonna have to stand up” and then the cut to her little face was perfect 😂
4:59 the best part of each groom, those ears ♥️
She is beautiful, and I really didn't see any bad behavior . Absolutely fantastic. If I could expect this kind of dog in an Alaskan Malamute for myself, I would get one. Thank you for this enjoyable video!
Apart from the little bit at the end with the feets, a hugely polite, well behaved and endearing dog.
Oh my, what a good girl. From what was shown and knowing their temperaments she was awesome!
Oh you were too! 😁
He's already 7.
they're so pretty it's unreal. Their pattern looks like someone drew them
Well done, both of you. Both trusting each other and it worked. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Take care
Aww, poor baby
That dog looked like she was having a good time for pretty much the entire session! What a sweetheart. 🇨🇦💕
Holy cow, that doggo is so sweet 🥰🥰🥰
What a well behaved dog!!! Such a sweetie!
That furnado was so satisfying! And Nala is gorgeous, and well trained❤❤❤
What a beautiful dog. Great job!
Loved the Cotton Candy MoHawk and the Cotton Candy Full Wiglet. Very cute.
What a beauty! A tiny bit dramatic, but overall an excellent day at the spa ❤
i had a malamute and they are super smart and so pretty ! they don’t like water but they love snow- 3 layers of fur!
