  • The mechanical issues just keep coming, and this week we're faced with a diesel fuel leak coming from our T444E school bus.
As we take our bus to the diesel mechanic to get it checked out and fixed up, we're able to keep our minds off of everything by spending some quality time with family while exploring Little Rock, Arkansas.

That's great you found a good mechanic and he took the time to show Jimmy. Soon Jimmy will be able to do some of the repairs on his own as he learns.

Just jumped on here quickly to let ya know, as I was getting ready for work today, I was making turkey sandwiches for lunch. I was quite disappointed to find that I was out of mayo. I was thinking about an alternate lunch when I spied a jar of ranch dressing. I have to say I didn't think it too bad. Thanks guys! Hope you're having fun!!!!

Totally agree! We are slowly, but surely, learning more and more about our bus... and also how to deal with the disappointment when these issues arise. Although we might not show it completely in these videos, we find ourselves getting discouraged when these things happen... But I can honestly say, we are learning how to handle these situations and we are better for it 💚

Also was glad to hear that the machanics showed Jimmy what to watch for and gave him some information on any future issues with the fuel pump and other things. Nice that Jimmy's parents where in Little Rock and was able to secure you a spot at the RV Park. Well guys as always, "Enjoy The Adventure." Take care till next time!! :-)

Phew, it feels as if in a way you guys dodged a bullet as it were. The cost of the repairs wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been and at least now you know to keep an eye on the fuel pump. It turned out well that you got to spend time with Jimmy's parents and as a viewer it was fun meeting part of the family. It was also good that this happened while you were still relatively close to civilization as it were. Safe travels, and looking forward to your further adventures! CYA next time.

Agreed! It's good that we're finding all these issues now before we get too far out west because I imagine we'll be doing a lot more "free-campsite" boondocking rather than Walmart hopping. All-in-all, everything worked out pretty well and we even got to hang out with Jimmy's parents! I'm glad you enjoyed meeting them! It was really fun to have them be a part of the vlog for a week 😄

So proud of the two of you - positive attitudes in the midst of the trial. Amazing how God meets us in the middle of adversity! He truly is Waymaker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper! He made a way for your parents to "just happen to be in the same place" you were traveling. He makes a place for you to park where the hookups were on the right side. He's a miracle worker for sending you to just the right mechanics that were reasonable and efficient. He's a Promise Keeper cause He promise He would be with you. "There will be troubles in this life but I AM with you always."
Thankful and grateful to our wonderful God watching over you!

Hopefully you will learn more about the bus and be able to take care of some of the fixes yourselves.

So sorry to hear about your fuel leak. The same thing just happened to me. I hope I can find a reputable diesel mechanic. I take it in tomorrow. Don’t go through Birmingham, Alabama. The worst roads ever. I drove from Maine to the bottom of Alabama making the mistake of going through Birmingham. The next morning, I noticed a huge puddle on my friend’s driveway…. Yep, Diesel. I have a fuel leak. Plus, my ice chest never moved during my entire trip until I went through Birmingham. It fell and broke the bottom glass on my door. So glad I follow y’all because I may do the same thing to my door that y’all have. Your door looks really nice.

It's always important to have fuel leaks checked out. Diesel is not as easily flammable as gasoline. But if it is a leak from a crak in a line or fitting that causes the fuel to spray in a fine mist it can be flammable or even explosive. Good call!

Sorry that you guys had those trials and tribulations on your bus. Wonder if that was part of the source of hard starting that you had in previous videos?
Looking forward to your next adventure. If ever you head north to PA, our place is always open to you guys!

Thanks so much! We will definitely reach out if we find ourselves in PA! (unfortunately, it might not be until it gets warm again 😅) Thanks for the support! 💚💚
Also, we had hoped that too... but, if anything, it looks like it might just be an issue with our actual glow plug 😅

    • @ShellysNest
      @ShellysNest 2 года назад +1

We named our RV Shelly. As we travel, we take our home with us wherever we go, just like a turtle. We do have a stuffed box turtle that rides on our dashboard.

Yes! She is! Shelly is the name of Jimmy's parents RV and also the name of their mascot! She's a little box turtle (stuffed animal) that they'll take with them on their trips. It's actually really cute and they'll have her make appearances in their videos 😄

You need to replace your fuel pump asap, you want to get it done since you have a good mechanic and who knows what kind of mechanic you will find next time you need one.

  • @donnanichols6838

I am soooooo sorry that you've had yet another mechanical bus issue!!!😥
But glad that it at least was a lil cheaper to fix...🍃😁🍃 and you definitely cannot afford to allow a fuel leak to go unchecked, and or fixed....a most important issue for sure.🍃🤓🍃 Glad its fixed🍃😎🍃....
and about that fuel pump, I was thinking about that, and something crossed my mind that I think I should at least whisper in your ears, and that is, since you do know that the fuel pump is on it's way out, the real questions for me would be, when is it going to go out?...and where are you going to be when it goes out?
You see the dilemma here? You can't possibly know when or where that's gonna happen, right? What if it happens when you're miles away from anywhere? Or during a time where 'time' is crucial, say one of you has a medical emergency (Heaven forbid) but it could happen. And you need to get to the hospital right away, and then it happens, your fuel pump dies and your bus is broke down on the side of the road. Ooooooohhh noooooo!!! There's a million and one scenarios possible for the moment that dying fuel pump will cough and sputter and die. I'm jus sayin... in my mind it's better to go ahead and replace that fuel pump asap, before it up and dies, right??
Just my humble opinion, you can choose to listen to me or do nothing, it's your call.🍃 🤔🍃
Love and care about you two...be safe out there on the road of life. Sending big fat hugs via the air waves!!!
    🍃😍🤗🍃

Those are some really good concerns and we definitely hear you! ❤️
We had the exact same thoughts as the mechanics told us our options and so we asked them about the safety concerns. Each one of them said it was such a small issue that they would personally drive on it as is (even after we told them our plans to travel across the country!)
BUT, that being said... we are actually looking into getting a replacement part and trying to do the swap ourselves. If that works out you should actually see a video from us in the next few weeks with an update about the new fuel pump!
Thanks so much for looking out for us and all your support! 💚💚

Was it coming from the lift pump or the injection pump? The o-rings for the injector lines are simple to change. Just have to learn how. You should think about getting an entire tool kit together anyway if you haven't already done so. A machine that is that old will require a LOT of little things done to it almost constantly.

If you were very pleased with the work done in North Little Rock and felt the price was very reasonable, perhaps you should have let them do the fuel pump as well.

    • @JimmyandNatalie

Without getting too much into it, the quote they gave us for the replacement would have doubled our bill, at least. So after talking it over with them, they walked us through how to change out the fuel pump ourselves. It honestly isn't that big of a job, it's just something we haven't done before! This way we'll get to save some money and practice working on our engine ourselves a little bit more.

Jim , needs to start getting online and find a few channels doing repairs on your engine in your bus and stop going to any repair shops as for every good shop , there are dozens of OTHERS not very honest !!!!!!! Just to give you a idea , them O rings they replaced were most likely in a kit that cost around $50.00 if that . Dirty hands are a good thing & very rewarding with a vintage bus. Also investage all parts supply company's as not all parts are quality Made in America parts . Start looking for a NEW fuel pump NOW , ( not rebuilt ) so if & when it fails all you got to do is change it. Same thing for a spare water pump, alternator, Radiator hoses and all belts as there are all commonly braking parts that can be replaced pretty easy with a tool kit you carry on the bus.
