Thanks for the post. Had a similar idea while listening to this track. Amazing to see you took the time to share! They say ‘writing about music is like dancing about architecture’ but it’s interesting that writing about music can still expose the like-mindedness of listening to a piece among humans.
Although he is incredibly skilled and seasoned, I think Richard approaches music with a child-like perspective. A beginners mind if you will. Fresh and playful. This is what makes the sound so unique and beautiful to me.
No, not a close one. This is mature, this is electronic music at its peak; it is by no means childish. Playful, cheerful, idiosyncratic, yes. Pure genius.
@@pigslayer703 The 'inner child' is present in all artists that have refined the creative process itself into something largely subconscious. It's present in most Aphex songs. Mature music, very much so, with a child-like playful quality.
It because of synth sound. If you play this melody on piano it will sound like boring crap, thats why piano composer have to invent complex chord mechanic to make it sound good. Synth can make this for you, idk why composers stuck to their shitty piano and violins.

I can go into intricate details about it but it'd be too much text but basically it starts with someone being born (0:00 -0:34), growing up like a normal kid (0:35 - 1:32), experiencing love for the first time (1:33 - 1:53), facing life as a teen with an uncertain future (1:54 - 2:06), then he becomes a depressed adult trying to get his life together (2:07 - 2:27), then everything starts to get better in his late 20's, he met his future wife, had kids and lived his life really good most of the time until his 50's (2:28 - 3:50), I picture him watching his kids growing up, getting married too and finally becoming a grandfather (3:50 - 4:31), then in his early 60's life strikes again with news that he has some life threatening illness and another uncertain future appears (4:32 - 5:28) , he gets through it and lives his last years surrounded by his loved ones having his last great memories (5:29 - 6:23) and the last section (6:24) I'd imagine the same person in his 90's already in his deathbed surrounded by his loved ones he met on this ride we call life, remembering all of his memories be it good or bad, saying his last words until his last breath (7:18).
Sure, there are a lot of tracks that can tell you a whole life.. but find another track that is extremely intricate both melodically and rhythmically like this track. There's no other.. most people don't know how incredible this track is in every single way, this is one of those things no one can replicate.
why have kids and future husban i dont understand why its neccesery to fulfill your life/ also he has heart attack or a stroke (4:03-4:31).
Richard has been, still is, & will always be the greatest artist there is
This is amazing beyond words. Every time I listen it's a new emotional experience and I love it.
4:05 so pretty (:
this song is perfect, so glad he released this stuff, now for the other 1000 unreleased tracks

try it with full analord ep,
it might some lore in it
Thanks for the post. Had a similar idea while listening to this track. Amazing to see you took the time to share! They say ‘writing about music is like dancing about architecture’ but it’s interesting that writing about music can still expose the like-mindedness of listening to a piece among humans.
Great comment. I love so much that people can have such vivid interpretations
So good one of his absolute best close to 14cornish spreek 5b... Another free tune as gift to all bless the man
Aphex man your music is just astonishingly beautiful man
Such a beautiful song
grate jam to start a very nice morning
Innovative and timeless.
Forgot just how good this is 😮
Possibly my favourite Aphex track....
I love this so fucking much man, it just makes me happy to be here
Fluid, had this playing on the way to work and couldn't stop smiling, nice one, legend, need more of this in my life.
I think this is my new favorite song of all time for now
Its all in the details! EQ, compression, timing, and um, composing...brilliant.
I can’t even say what I feel...thank you, AFX...
I’ve listening this song in a full bad trips on schrooms and it change My mood for real, thats the magic of this man, its not just music to me, its something so private and special that when you understand it, it’s like it keep talkin to you in a very special way. The lesson I get from him every Time is do what YOU watt to do and make what you watt to make in art, thats when the « thing » happen for real and touch so many people. (Sorry for My english Im French ;)
2:20 - 4:50, oh how much pure joy and happiness here! This reminds me of all the good things in my life.
this song feels like all the depths of falling in love, all the moments you remember and enjoy and look back on, thats how this shit fr makes me feel its crazy i love richard sm dude, like all the different interpretations that people can have. the notes just FEEL like that to me personally though and certain notes make me think about certain features with that person or some notes make me remember the times we've spent
How you do you write music at this resolution of detail? It's astounding how intricately placed each note and sound is, yet it comes off as effortless and casually created, like he wakes up every day and his ears shit golden melodies.
I kinda regret discovering Aphex Twin two years ago. To me he elevated electronic music standards so much that everything else in this field seems of poor quality
there's a lot of artists that put out really good music. Also, let's not act like all of his output is of this quality. Although most of it is terrific, there has been some dogshit in the mix too.
wait till you listen to elseq
Lol there are loads of artists that are equally amazing.
Dude there are so manny amazing underground artists for me james holden and narhan fake allways captured this same feeling in some of their work. And there are thousands more i could name. Listen to james holden - renata

my two favorite things about afx are the memorable lead melodys and constantly contrasting with last section rhythym sections
A RUclips commenter once said about RDJ, "Behind that devilish smile resides a heart of gold." I believe this to be true. His symbol is a sigil for all that is Good in the world.
Cameron Robert yeah but he ate my soul so...
@@JosephSmith-ok7lw He eats your soul, then spits it back out, reviving its purity.
@@loganmavity2805 and bro you have meme in your username. And Lil.
@@evo2542 Sure do. Doesn't make my point any less valid.
@@loganmavity2805 so you're seeking validation on the internet? Good luck.
this sound is amazing, he sure make a good use of those years!!!
one of the few people that don't care about anything and just produce tracks, one by one. I know only three people like this. Autechre and AFX
he went all in in thisss
one of my fav tracks of his, also one of my fav photos of him. what a combo ::)
aphex is the pinnacle of an omnipotent prophecy
Love it. Despite his songs being mostly chaotic and having a broken rhytm, this one feels like pure happiness. Thank you very much for uploading it!
Probably my favorite song he's uploaded to SoundCloud
+RENEGADE ANDROiD It's not a song. It's a track. Songs have lyrics.
It's lyrics made of sounds :)
you're correct but your comment wasn't neccesary.
It's lovely isn't it!
Truly!
the drums sound EMMACULATE
prolly gon sample em
Awesome track, 5:28 onwards makes me so happy.
I am hearing all the soundcloud stuff for the first time, what a truly awesome piece of music this one is....
This is like Beethoven if he had found a synthesizer and espresso. I imagine lots of squirrels running together around 5:42
melodic explosion
people ask why he didnt release this sooner, but i believe this song is probably pretty personal to him. it literally sounds like pure vulnerability
He just didnt like the outro
This is one very inspired, talented, resourceful electronic musician, with original ideas.
Then that swirling arpeggio kicks in...And my brain melts.
Along with your heart! ❤❤❤
a masterpiece among unreleases. I constantly want to return to this simultaneously complex and simple composition
On another level. Transcendenting to another plain of existence... or something.
Una verdadera obra maestra, literalmente electrizante...
Aphex Twin is a pure music lover.
Great tune with emphasizing mixing of melodies under 7 and half minute
I've listened to this song so many times. I fucking love Aphex man he fits my life
this is genius.
