    Thanks for the new tutorials on the Manticore. I remember watching the ones you guys made for the Equinox some years back and they really helped. I have a Manticore on preorder and look forward to your tutorials, thanks for doing them. My wife and I detect together and enjoy watching you and Eric out detecting.

      If I never had a Manticore in my hands, I would have probably said maybe not. I love my Equinox 800 but after my third hunt with the Manticore, I hung up my 800. I had a hard time going back to it when Eric wanted to use the Manticore 🤣 I got used to having more information and I had to rely less on my own analyzations and tone only. The way I compared it was “Using the Manticore feels like a vacation” Audio visual was a game changer for me.. 👍

    Good morning, I just received the minelab manticore yesterday and I was wondering if you know the best setting to detect modern Canadian coins? Thank you and have a nice weekend 😊.

    • @RelicDirtyhands
      @RelicDirtyhands  Год назад +1

      Good evening, to find modern ferrous coins you will need to accept them in the ferrous limits. This is a video on the ferrous limits and how to adjust. At the end Eric uses our modern clad as an example. Minelab Manticore Ferrous Limits Tutorial
      ruclips.net/video/5G6AZt7DjPI/видео.html Once you open the ferrous limits you will be accepting more ferrous items like nails, but you can hear the difference and see a difference in the trace. Our coins have a unique wobble tone to them where as iron that falls there doesn’t. It will have a clean tone. Also they give a elongated smudge since it contains mix metals, it’s something that is recognizable. We did write up the settings to accept all coins.

      @@acadianmetaldetector6506 take some clad coins with you, put them on the ground and listen to them and look at the trace it makes. It will help you recognize them. The Manticore is highly sensitive, I’d also recommend the default sensitivity or slightly lower for clad hunting since they are often found closer to the surface. It’s extremely powerful and surface coins react much better with a reduced sensitivity between 16 and 20. Let me know how it goes 👍

      @@RelicDirtyhands Sorry, I didn’t try the new setting, the salt water beach that I went today wasn’t the right place, it was a clay beach, but I found a musket ball in 2 hours and lot of scrap metal, just a learning process (need to dig it to learn) , it is not an equinox 800. Practice will get me better. I’m usually an inland and river detectorist. Don’t care much about beach, but the Bay of Funny is the only place not frozen south of New Brunswick .

    This might seem to be a silly question as this doesnt work on any other machine to my knowledge. Say you eliminate a pulltab number. (I dont know what it is yet haha) lets pick a number of 30. Now you dont hear a pulltab but can you hear other targets that ring up at 30? Or are all targets at 30 gone?

    • @RelicDirtyhands
      @RelicDirtyhands  Год назад +1

      All targets of 30 will be gone if you discriminate.. I had a pull tab park and eliminated the 3 common pull tab numbers and I ended up having a good time ha ha! I found silver and gold that hunt. I figured each time I go I’ll dig without discrimination until I’m fed up. Slowly getting through the pull tabs.. then switch when I had enough and cherry pick a while. You can always go back and get them when you have more time or patience ☺️👍

      @kenb897 Год назад

      @RelicDirtyhands very good!. My parks are loaded with them and I found I was doing the same..last 1/2 hr to an hour I would switch to a cherry picking setup I had on the equinox. I won't be doing that with the manticore until I understand it somewhat 😀.

    There is a thing that i didn´t understad: Iron will appear into the upper ferrous limits. An iron alloy to the bottom ferrous limits.
    But where the iron starts on the scale? On the nox, from 0 to 39 is all non ferrous stuff. from -9 to -1 is ferrous. What about manticore??

    • @RelicDirtyhands
      @RelicDirtyhands  Год назад +1

      The Equinox will pick up chunky iron at 15-17. That's around 34 we will say on the Manticore. Could be higher. Instead of relying on numbers, it's more on how it's classified and where it shows up on the map. Example on the Equinox it shares 15 with chunky iron and some brass relics like buckles. On the Manticore, the buckle will show as non ferrous and on or really close to the center line. A chunky piece of iron will show as ferrous and further from the center line. Hope this explains it bit more.

    • @SandBoy408
      @SandBoy408 Год назад

      @@RelicDirtyhands Chunky iron (big and rusty) has non ferrous features...and generally hits on 40 or high numbers. Never seen any iron on 15-17....but i understand.
      In all metal we have the red line, and with discrimination it will be blocked....independently from the ID number.

    None of the current metal detectors on the market can be equal to a simple analog metal detector Tesoro Lobo Supertraq in terms of quality and accuracy of the discriminator, as well as in filtering out trash. All these jumping ID numbers will still force a person to waste time digging up useless metal. While Lobo simply filters out trash and always confidently beeps for gold.

    • @RelicDirtyhands
      @RelicDirtyhands  Месяц назад

      @@js-sound you obviously haven’t learned this machine yet. I’ve had a record gold count this year. You can’t compare a single frequency detector to a multi. Using 17.5 kHz you will be missing the fine and small gold. There is a lot to learn about how frequencies react to metals. When you know you know.

    • @js-sound
      @js-sound Месяц назад

      @@RelicDirtyhands I couldn't find only chains with Tesoro, because 17.5 kHz is a problem for chains. But it saw 1 gram of gold super, didn't give false signals with metal. I did a test like this: 45 cm deep and 1 gram of gold, then I filled it all with earth, did a test in discrimination mode for all metals except gold. It beeped steadily! I added metal to gold, it beeped for gold even with 50...100 grams of junk metal. Then I removed gold weighing 1 gram and it didn't give a signal for metal. Tesoro is the king! And all modern detectors have the stupidest discriminator and everyone writes it off to mixed metal! While Tesoro doesn't have this problem and the discriminator has never interfered with it searching for gold between foil, iron, beer caps, etc. That is, all modern detectors are false information about conductivity or, to be more precise, they display the total reading and can assign gold the number 20...39....55...76...82. Which makes the work of such a discriminator useless.
