Fender tremolo circuits often tick (though not as loudly as this one does) and can usually be cured by dressing the wires differently. Perhaps whoever worked on this before inadvertently changed the layout. Also, the shielded cables running to the top panel for the audio signal also function as the ground for the control panel and passive circuits; You can often reduce the noise on this type of amplifier design by disconnecting all those shields at one end and running a separate ground wire between the top and bottom chassis. This prevents noise traveling through the shields from being radiated into the center conductor that carries the audio. I've seen Masco amplifiers with a bottom amp and top mounted control panel that had the same problem, especially after adding a grounded power cord. Lifting the shield ground and adding a seperate ground wire cured the noise.

That really sounds great - wonderful tremolo too. I love those amps. Some had oval speakers, and they sound wonderful. I also like how the controls are on top but the amp chassis is on the bottom. More stability that way, as opposed to the Fender method of placement? It's more work and cost, probably why Fender did most everything.

For three prong cables like that ask your IT dept, they probably have a dozen spares. :)

I'm trying to keep the edits on these videos to around 25 minutes, so some of the more mundane aspects of the servicing got cut. The verification and changing of the fuse (2 amp, btw) was one of them. Thanks for watching.
