Never saw a tweeter used in a combo guitar amp before. What a gem! And the underside point-to-point wiring is so clean and elegant. Great vid!
I have a 1961 Watkins Joker (the one with built-in tape echo) which has dual push-pull EL84s, and that has a tweeter!
Hi, in vintage guitar magazine November 2021, page 38 is the article "United they stood" part 2 a long story of Premier brand!! I found a premier stratocaster a couple of years ago from the seventies and made a partscaster with a blank strat body, using the ebony neck and pickups.
Great to see that you have so much work Colleen, and thanks for all the amp history and repair videos. Greetings from Australia
I betcha Link used that microphone channel, you know they always have a little more umph to em. 😊
Premier made a wonderful tube reverb unit
whenever I see a Premier 71 I always think of Link Wray... who I was fortunate enough to support with our band as well as join him on stage at the end of the night to play Rumble in the encore... thanks for sharing the inside view of the amp it was cleaner and more well made than I expected...I thought it might be like the chaotic wiring found in the old Gretsch amps made by Valco ... always enjoy your bench work videos take care...
I want to build a single ended class-A amp with this style of construction, separate the knobs and the power amp... Make the box less top-heavy, eliminate hum using common sense etc. I'd love to copy that termolo circuit too! The Ancient rectifier is another top tip!
I can see an M series Magnatone in the background, like an M15 perhaps, as well as a danelectro or silvertone amp, and another Dano on the right with the red cabinet, as well as an Amoeg fliptop. All of these deserve full repair videos!
Rumble by Link Wray was recorded on one (and he used it for years). I have one in great shape. Cool and different…
So happy to have found this channel!
As always great amp and amazing amp tech!
Very nice vintage amp! 👌
Always lovely to get info on older amps, a rich history! This reminds me of the layout form an old Silvertone 1334 I had.
Never heard of this amp before. Thanks for the review.....👌
Welcome back!
I always wondered about this brand Colleen, even though i never dug in very deep. Thank you for the history on Premier 🎸🎸
One look at your shop tells me that you LOVE your job !
Very cool!
Great video.
Such a cool amplifier, what a gem! Always lovely to get info on older amps, a rich history. Great to see you working on the amps Colleen, and thanks for all the amp history. You do mention V1 and V2, being 12AX7's and V3 12AU7, du you know about V4, it's either stated being 12AX7 or 12AU7 on the web, V5 usually 12AU7. Can't find any schematic though the 71 and 76 is said to share preamp but the only available 76 schematic on the web has the preamp tubes all mixed up and 6L6's which also seem like an error.
That's some serious tremolo, and I like the overall design of the amp. Separating the tone control circuitry from the amp is a nice touch, there's not too many wires going there and back. I wonder if it's got a cathode follower before the tone stack... probably too old for that though :)
Such a cool amplifier.
I've an old 1947 MEC I occasionally record with and am amazed that an amplifier so old can work so well.
Great content, Thank You. Count me as a new Subscriber.
i would like to see you work on a Marshall 1974x combo someday! love those amps and I enjoy your videos of amp repairs and restorations
Wahoo another vid ☺️
WOW! Lookit that amp! That chassis gives me _proto-Diezel_ vibes.
dang, I was hoping you'd show and/or explain how the tremolo works - maybe a future video idea!? :) Love your channel, thanks for sharing all of this vintage equipment and your knowledge with us!
that is some nice wiring
You should do repair ASMR videos. Your voice is so soothing.
You got the "Instant" Rumble sound!! I am curious to see how the tweeters are hooked up. Thanks, it's a beauty!! Can't wait for next instalment of..:The Link Wray amp"! Shadow knows when that will be.
Yay Colleen, thanks 😊 for a new video!!!
Hankering. Love that word 😅😅
hanker ing r i m e s 'w i t h, ..x.. teehee! lol
Cool - I hope you film a follow up if you're able to get it singing sweetly again
Haha that was the tone
Happy Holidays.....❤ you have a awesome speaking voice....And your videos speak volumes. ❤
cool old amp, but I feel having an input cord almost on the ground would be prone to finding big feet, even though it's on the back.
Another great video, Colleen!
Ry Cooder had a Premier 88 as psrt of his 4-amp onstage rig in 2018.
Link Wray, you can totally hear it.
We were drumming along with you as you rumbled.
Muito bom 👍😸
Interesting. BTW you have a soothing voice. Thank you for posting. Vintage amps are awesome.
when it's educational, we can pretend it's not really ASMR, but we all know it is
Thanks dollbaby I sure enjoy your play x play on these pieces of art! Happy Thanksgiving 😊
Love the tremolo...
Good to see you too..
✌️❤️😁
Noice
have you ever worked on one of Robert HudsonsBlues Pearl amps?most of them are based on the old black face design, however he had a few that were different, most were non-master volume
Baldwins can be Sylvania and they sound great.
Do I see an old Danelectro amp in the shop?
(Hint hint...)
Love all your vids, lady...
Thanx
Curious on why they put the amp controls on the back.
Are these shirts new? I have the original, and the stack in the hot rod as well.
Thanks you
AMP OF THE MONTH! AMP OF THE MONTH! AMP OF THE MONTH!
pienso en mil cosas para escribirte, de electronica, de vos, de tu sonrisa, etc. Pero lo borro y empiezo de nuevo. Es un constante perderse en ti jajajaja. Salutti
which caps had to be discharged?
Would love to buy some of your merch but it seems to be all sold out already 😢 Any chance you're getting more stock?
Am I missing something? There were Premier drum kits out there as well.
😘🙏🏻👍🏻
Hi from Croatia 👋❤️🎼🎵🎶🎸🎸🔊🔊
Wasn’t this the amp Link Wray used?
Yep. She mentioned at 6:07 that this is supposedly the amp model used on Rumble.
Sounds very Link Wray ..👌
😘
I would love to have you go through my 86 Hiwatt LB100
Bass amp
In FL
How to make it happen?
Someone needs to get acquainted with the ISO setting on the camera. 😃
Sexy Electric .. Just Popped Up on Premium 💫
All my amps are bwoken 💔
@7:49 I'd would NEVER handle a Power Transformer like that. You shouldn't be touching the windings either, as that is VERY dangerous. electrocuted
My friends dad used to build trains for ElectroMotive. One day while arc welding he got distracted and got his ring finger too close to the arc. ZZZZAP! The ring turned red hot and burned all the skin off down to the bone! Pleas don't be that guy (or girl)! Quick Q..... Is Al's the best italian beef joint in Chicago or Portillos?
I find the power tranny to be an excellent grabbing area on many amps, especially flimsy non-box types. Make sure the juice is discharged like I'm sure she did. She is safer and better at approaching amps than most I see online.
@@jjsant3250 Then she should of mentioned that. She didn't. I see you have 4 numbers to your name...
Amp of the month is a great idea. Always something new and interesting! All the best Colleen! End hate, go skate!🛹
