Thanks for the perfect demo of the acoustic part of this song. One of my favorite Townshend/The Who songs. (His solo version on "Who Came First" is brilliant too.)
Well this made me smile - from one of my all-time fave albums (Who came first) and song (followed closely by anything by Ronnie Lane) & played on a J-200! Thanks!
No recent comments, but that's OK. I used to be intimidated by Pete, but your videos have me playing him well. Thanks so much and I hope you are well. Peace, bro.
I believe he is playing the A chord, when capoed is a C; then you play a particle C chord which would be the fourth or F, not a suspended. You are correct, it is an inversion on the D, but because of the capo, it is the F. The suspended would be the second fret on B string and third fret on G string. I think it is in the Key of F because the chords after you capo are C, Bb, F. (A, G, D). www.chords.tv/bpmkey/track/2fa7qE7nipW1ux4VoRotTH/ www.thewho.net/whotabs/tablature/letsseeaction.txt
The link to the tab on TheWho.net shows you the chords for piano, because you can’t capo a piano. There are the chords to play with the capo on as your playing them. tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/the_who/lets_see_action_chords_55785 They are same chords, it just shows you them, with or without capo, depending on the tab you use. I play guitar and piano, so this way I don’t have to transpose them, but Ultimate Tab gives you the ability to do it in the app. It would be involved figuring out the middle part without the capo. I thank you for this lesson because I have loved the song ever since I got Who Came First. The entire album is a masterpiece. I admit I'm a bit awful at learning this stuff, but I really want to be able to play this song. Could someone break down the strumming on the main part? It seems like it's DD DU but there must be more to it?
Looks like you're in a Who mood. I hate to ask again and I promise it will be my last, (god I hope I didn't say that before) but it sure would be great to see you do Pete's acoustic version of Heart To Hang Onto.
Is this the same way he plays it on his solo Album “Who Came First?” I assume it is. Here are the two versions. ruclips.net/video/sWd2jogpras/видео.html
You should have gotten your wife to do the handclaps. Who Came First is a special album. “There’s A Heartache following me” sums up a broken heart. The album takes you on many a journey, including exploring his spiritual path. A Very special work. Of course, for a broken heart, Bob Dylan’s Blood on the tracks and for an inner journey, John Lennon’s first solo album. Great music can speak in a deep personal way, from Beethoven to these works I mentioned. It is so good to have you cover these works.
Thank you. Always loved this song. I’m 66 and recently taken up playing guitar and reckon I can manage this ❤️👍

Great song from a great solo album. Thanks for all you do.
Great song, just perfectly presented! Thanks!
One of my favorite Pete Townshend compositions! Thank you for another excellent lesson!
I've been following you on RUclips for several years now. I've got say, you have one of the best ears for music that I've seen.
fantastic!!..............i haven't heard this in years!!
nice one james
Nothing sounds like a J-200. Superb!!!
Excellent

Sounds a bit like "Jet Airliner" from Steve Miller. Great lesson!
Thanks for all your great videos this year JJ! I remember a year ago around this time you were making videos on Smashing Pumpkins songs!
Excellent,as always.
Thanks for this was one of my early acquisitions so is a tune that I can now get down pat.....
G,D,A seems to be Pete's signature chord progression.
Actually, A-G-D. Most famously on "Won't Get Fooled Again". Same chord shapes here with a capo to change the key.
First time I heard this song I tried to work this out in standard tuning without the slightest idea it was in C, LOLs. Great tune
Any time you pull out the Gibson is a good day for me!
Awesome as ever. Love the Pete Townshend stuff. Have you ever done Street in the City on the Rough Mix album?

If you think it sounds right that way, you should play it that way.

Is the action really low on that A200? It looks low.

Yes, same way.
