May I ask a technical question? Why did you set up a stereo pair for violas/celli? Quite an uncommon approach, made me think a lot. :) Great recording overall, natural-sounding and wide.
@@hanlieloyd9260 I heard Adiemus on my local classical music station and was instantly mesmerized. Thank's to the Soundhound app, I was able to get the composer's name. Adiemus is now one of my all time favorite compositions.
The more often I hear "Palladio" (all three movements, not just the first!), the more convinced I become that it is a modern masterpiece. So why isn't Jenkins more famous?
My grandad was very fond of classical music. I had lost this song name. Hearing it again brings back so many good memories. What an amazing tune. Few happy tears shed.
Karl Jenkins wrote this beautiful composition in honour of the Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio whose studies in composition and variations of basic geometries along with Classical forms , especially Roman architecture, gave birth to such buildings as the Villa Rotonda (1566).
i love this piece…i swear it has proven itself to be timeless. Right up there with the greatest compositions of all history. Still gives me goos bumps.
Last week I played the first movement in an arrangement for orchestra (50 musicians) and choir (20 singers) during the summer week of the Dutch amateur music association. It was really impressive! Actually the whole composition is impressive, I just heard all three parts for the first time. The theme of the allegro is still in my head all day long... Waow!
The whole thing for me, and the final work has so many emotional feelings and changes musically, for me, i can't not love it and the musicians bring out the the composers thoughts and feelings, for me.
Imagine how it would be being a composer who had written a piece of music like this and hearing it played by an orchestra for the first time. I reckon it would have to be a pretty amazing feeling. For Palladio, you'd have to go away feeling pretty smug (and deservedly so).
I happened upon this video by accident and upon hearing it I immediately thought it seemed faster than the recording I am familiar with. But it's definitely not to its detriment.
I have enjoyed Karl Jenkins for all time he did music... and I cannot barely comment on the perfectness of this moment. This is... in my believe... untouchable perfect. My heart goes out for all orchestras trying to do this before. THIS is just perfect
I can't believe I just found out this was composed less than 30 years ago, not 200. It was one of those pieces that I never knew the name of or composer til I thought to finally look it up.
I loved it the first time I heard it. About a year ago. I went gaga for it. Listened to it at least once a day for weeks. Read up on Wikipedia about Karl Jenkins. There is just something just so wordlessly wonderful about this composition. I understand that he does a lot of religious composing. I hope he gets more exposure.

He is a great composer sadly not performed enough in some part of the world. Came across his work by chance 2 years ago..... I have all his recorded works, masterpieces each one ....never tire of listening to them.
Wow ! What a beautiful discovery ! So lovely . Reminds me a bit of Grieg's Holberg suite an all time favourite of mine . This one will def be another fave of mine . Thank you for uploading !💞💕💗💞💕🙏👌👍🏻
I obviously recognised this wonderful piece immediately but didn’t know what it was or who wrote it. It is referred to in I wish it could be Christmas Every Day by Milly Johnson hence my arrival here.

I just discovered the music of Karl Jenkins today. I feel like I have a new best friend.
Do look for the choir piece called Adiemus which he composed. You'll enjoy it
@@hanlieloyd9260 I heard Adiemus on my local classical music station and was instantly mesmerized. Thank's to the Soundhound app, I was able to get the composer's name. Adiemus is now one of my all time favorite compositions.
@@hanlieloyd9260 Check also this "obscure" baroque composer: Adam Vaclav Michna. Pure haven !!!!!!
The more often I hear "Palladio" (all three movements, not just the first!), the more convinced I become that it is a modern masterpiece. So why isn't Jenkins more famous?
Possibly because he is over shadowed by Philip Glass and Michael Nyman. I agree its a masterpiece
Jenkins isn't as famous as, say, John Williams or Hans Zimmer or Howard Shore because he doesn't confine himself to writing film scores,
I like the whole
Good question
not a big fan of it tbh
My grandad was very fond of classical music. I had lost this song name. Hearing it again brings back so many good memories. What an amazing tune. Few happy tears shed.
lol if only your grandad could see you crying on social media and sharing it... he'd be so disappointed.
...
.... because you're a disappointment.
I am surprised that this beautiful piece was composed only 28 years ago.
Brilliant. As prolific as Shastikovich....
As beautiful as Bach.
As timely as Telemann.
....as epic as Eroica!
Bravo!
Bravo!!
Bravo!!!

Thank you
I thought this piece was hundreds of years old....well there you go...I learnt something new
Thank you so much for such amazing comment
Absolutely agree!!!!!!!!!
This wonderful music touches my soul and transforms me to another better world.
I adore this piece, the 2nd movement is especially beautiful. A work of true genius.
Thank you very much!
I haven't seen anyone comment on how talented the concertmaster is yet. That 4th finger vibrato 👀
A youtube reel brought me here. This is lovely!!❤
Me too
Heavenly music from a contemporary artist!! Thanks Sir Jenkins!

Ok It doesn't take very long to realize that here's a stage full of great musicians with fantastic instruments. Love this piece thank you! 😅
The whole thing for me, and the final work has so many emotional feelings and changes musically, for me, i can't not love it and the musicians bring out the the composers thoughts and feelings, for me.
From the first notes it becomes clear that the Maestro is a big fan of Antonio Vivaldi !

Poor artists copy, great artists steal ;)
Brilliant masterpiece, what genius !
This piece has such tension in it you can feel somethings coming around the next corner.

I believe the first movement is played 1.25 faster than LSO version. At this speed sounds more like a long time lost Vivaldi's master piece. Awesome!
I happened upon this video by accident and upon hearing it I immediately thought it seemed faster than the recording I am familiar with. But it's definitely not to its detriment.
I totally agree !!
Comparing the Allegretto times:
Croatian Chamber Orchestra
03:38
LSO
03:40
1.009 times faster.

An incredible piece of music. Mesmerizing, mysterious and powerful.
This is used in so many commercials! I didn’t realize it was a full fledged piece. Thank you for sharing this!

He was a member of the prog rock group "Soft machine " The album "Softs" is an example of his work with theme.

I'm learning this right now for my highschool orchestra it's great!
Hope this helped! Cheers and good luck!

If Jenkins only ever composed Allegretto and Adiemus and stopped at that, that would be enough to make him a legend in my book.
Very moving!
I love this piece! Beautiful played, thank you!

Heard Palladio many times (and fell in love with it) before finding out what it's called and who wrote it. Great performance, thanks for posting.

"Palladio" sublime...
