Im a northern lad from 1965 Yorkshire. Family would go to Blackpool few times I lived in Yorkshire. Would definitely stay in either Hamptons Hilton or Sands Resort. My age makes it difficult to be riding any big ride at pleasure beach. Good to see this town getting revival. Hopefully more better hotels. Rikal group former post office, nre Mercure. Looks like Brittania has to get its act together or die overnight. As more hotels from Far east take hold with very prestigious hotels, with all the modern facilities.

Even though some places in the back streets are trying it's never going to be the same, I think the back streets will be demolished in the end. There are only so many new models can be put in madame tussauds or how many trips up the tower you can take before you are at the point of been there, done that BUT for lots of people it IS that familiarity that brings people back. If I were the council I would consider giving 1-2 years free rates on the shops, maybe even low interest private loans to get the shops back to usable… then the old hotels sell them cheap to developers for homes but only for affordable housing and some council housing.. then look into how to help the bigger hotels improve.

I think the issue has been, the shops in Blackpool were like no other. No matter where you go these days everywhere is the same it has b and m's, home bargains etc etc the high street of Blackpool is the same as any other high street in England now. These days It's the sort of place, been once and not need to go for years. Where as people were going every years ago. Bonny street market is also a massive loss.

good evening Scott Hope you’re keeping well? And yes, another valid point certainly Lower the prices I guess then they take over in the winter months and pick up in the summer months and make the profit that way so again another point. Hope you’re keeping well? All the very best take care enjoy the rest of your evening Paul.

Hi Paul. Another great informative vlog. It’s all true what you say. Most people go abroad because for one reason GB is so expensive now and another reason is the weather is better abroad which is a shame. I love coming to Blackpool. Come every year but don’t stay overnight because my brother doesn’t live so far away. As for the shops I don’t buy anything online. I love to walk around the shops and look at all the different things. Lovely video of the Stanley Park. All the ducks geese 🪿 and swans absolutely stunning. Hope you enjoy the rest of the evening. Take care of yourself and as always I wish you all the best.
    Mildred 👍🙂❤️

I guess things have changed in recent decades habits of people technology and everything has moved on. I’m the same as you do like and look around the shops and you can certainly pick up the bargain sometimes. Hope you keeping well all the best and Take care

Blackpool is huge, far bigger buildings wise than is needed nowadays. I suppose the only answer financially is that when the back street businesses inevitably fail, the properties sit and rot into dereliction for years, decades even until the value of them is so low that mass compulsory purchase can be afforded by the council. Compulsory purchase is only permitted for demolition, so the council cannot compulsory purchase to 'do up' a property. This point is key. Blackpool will get far tattier before the much needed clearances begin.

Blackpool will never die mate its just too popular. All the events, darts , bgt, rebellion, illuminations etc etc . Then you have all the stag do's and weekenders. Like myself, a lot of people also have the memories of year's of visits as a kid and will come back every year regardless. As long as guys like yourself and Stephen keep doing your superb channels it will always be out there. The pleasure beach is a disgrace really, the jewel of the golden mile and they charge these extortionate prices and close when they do, they actually don't deserve the people through the gates. Keep up the good work because you guys really make a difference 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍

good morning many thanks for coming and also watching and to be fair there’s nothing to add to your reply, so many different events like you listed many many more that’s why over 19 million people visit Blackpool each year and the number is rising and rising I know habits have changed in regards to how people stay but certainly it’s one of the most popular places in the United Kingdom and it’s only becoming better and better with all the regeneration work what’s going on? So this time in a few years is certainly will be back! all the best and take care and thanks again, Paul

I think the general economy of the country needs to pick up, people need to have more disposable income in their pockets, the money people are making at the moment goes nowhere, with your Gas, Electric , council tax, shopping, you name it, by the time you have payed every thing out, you haven't got much left, so people look for bargains , on everything , basically most everyday people are skint, and unless the Government get their finger out, and make people's wages go further, by bringing the prices off everything down, then i can't see where the disposable income is going to come from . if only we where on the same salary as the train drivers , i would be stopping at the Imperial Hotel in a suite overlooking the sea .

Staying in Blackpool does not seem to expensive. Sands hotel: Basic Double Room, 1 Double Bed (Room 5) - Room Only
    Price per room per night
    £34.44
Travelodge Blackpool South Promenade 27.99, which seems cheaper than renting a house or flat.
Bit surprised there are no more visitors than they are. Maybe if the council did not waste so much money on strange woke ideas, they could lower the rates and hence the prices on hotels would come down.

Unfortunately we have had councils for the last 20+ yrs hoping to bring it back to yesteryear when that was never possible.
Money is pumped into the promenade but they left the rest behind.
You only have to go one street back to bond st and as far as lytham Rd to see how run down it has become.
The big hotels should be turned into bars and clubs.
We should have a strip that can attract the youth.
Yates is prime for a day clubbing environment but it's decaying at a rapid pace.
I'm afraid it's gone too far now.
