    Although a lot of points were fairly lost, there were a lot as well that seemed biased towards Bazadze

    I feel at least one of those is for sure Szabo’s, maybe there is a reason I didn’t catch but 1:58 I think it’s miscalled for sure. Still, absolutely amazing comeback, Bazadze is a beast, hope to see him medal at the Olympics.

    • @Tismatic
      @Tismatic Год назад +4

      I actually don't think it's miscalled. I know slow-mo is not the best way to determine priority usually but if you use the frame by frame buttons on youtube with the > button, you can see that though Szabo's arm was definitely out first Bazadze's light comes on first and that Szabo's foot hit the ground around when Bazadze's light came on. I'm not a ref so maybe I'm off base here thinking that but with aid of slow-mo i do feel like this is Bazadze's

    Sandro is 100% the best mens saber fencer currently, but he deserved to lose this bout. Where is the referee from?

    Really, really, really sweet comeback. Congratulations!
    As an aside, is this scoring system used in collegiate competitions, please? I'm sorta writing a story with fencing as a sub-plot. Thank you in advance.

    • @celiacrompton
      @celiacrompton Год назад +3

      No, collegiate has it's own system that works as all 3 weapons working in teams of 3, 5 touch bouts, 9 bouts per weapon, so whichever school wins 14 bouts first wins the match

    Congrats to Bazadze, but with some questionable decisions IMO (1:02 - 1:16 - 1:58 for me are all Szabo's pretty clearly). What do you guys think ?

    • @SlicerSabre
      @SlicerSabre  Год назад +11

      Yeah I think Szabo got very unlucky with those

    • @christinawan5155
      @christinawan5155 Год назад +2

      I think he's holding his hand back a lot, the calls were justifiable, but yes, also very unlucky

      i really think the referee fucked up with 1:16 and 1:58. 1:02 it looks like he's holding his hand back

    Sandro Bazadze is from my country.. he is the best fencer in the world..

    • @jarrarwinks8470
      @jarrarwinks8470 Год назад +2

      Not really. Best fencer in the world is really subjective and hard to tell, but personally I think it’s the barbed wire fence, great stuff that scares people off.

    • @yihu8994
      @yihu8994 Год назад +2

      I agree that Sandro Bazadze is an incredible fencer, but it is hard to say that he is the top fencer in the world. Fencing is a kind of complicated sport, it is not only about physical skill, but fencers also have to train their reaction, strategy, and tactical ability. There are still many world-class fencers who have the excellent skill which can compete with Bazadze. That being said, Bazadze is already proven that he is a mighty competitor on the world stage. He got the gold medal in individual men's saber at the world cup 2022 and the European Championship 2022 respectively and won numerous other international competitions. His technique is precise and his footstep is fast as lightning, these advantages make his competitor is hard to get scores. From my personal perspective, he can make his move easy to adept and have the ability to make a decision rapidly in the heat of the moment, he is famous because of his unpredictable fencing style, this will let his competitor keep strong vigilance and he always can gain the upper hand during the match. In the nutshell, I think it is safe to say that Sandro Bazadze is one of the best fencing players in the world, whether or not he is the best is remain to be discussed, but one thing can not deny which is his incredible talent and skill on the piste.

    To my friends in the comments saying that the ref was beyond belief, I can't really agree. I mean I can vaguely see the 13-14 simul might have been Szabo's, but even then I'm not certain. It's unfortunate for Szabo, but totally within reason. Why are you so certain that the ref was out for blood?

    With all these nonsense calls, it still doesn't hold a candle to Wang's comeback vs Montano in 2007. Finals at Vegas, 7-14 to 15-14.

    Although a lot where fair hits from Bazadze I think his 14th hit was definitely Szabos if none else, definitely biased refereeing at play
    I'm an Epeeist so maybe I don't understand but to me this seems like daylight robbery
