- This video focuses mostly on Brusho, since the bottles don't have any color indication on them. While doing my bottle toppers, I also created swatch charts - see the links below! Blog post with links: bit.ly/3pLOKbm

I went to a Brusho class this morning. I came home and discovered your videos on You Tube. Needless to say, I'm hooked! Thank you for your 3 very informative videos.
Don't miss the whole playlist of watercolor powders - have some messy fun!
Thanks for the video. My favourite way to use the powdered water colours is to heat emboss a background stamp in clear or white & spritz and then add colours. I use as a background on a card or die cut from it.
I am so glad to find this. I've been hesitant to poke the holes in the top because I couldn't decide what to do to see the color and plug the holes. Fabulous idea. Now I will get mine done.
Yay!
I had an opportunity to meet Ken Oliver at a workshop in Wisconsin...such a nice man Nd so creative! I do wish he would sell the Color Burst colors individually though, like Brusho does. I've run out of my favorite colors from his sets and I don't want to buy whole new sets and end up with a lot of duplicates I would Ikeda not use. So for now, Brusho gets my money!
Yup that would be a smart idea!
Thanks Sandy! I bought the Brushos and have played a bit with them but this has been very, very helpful! I had already made "coloured" tops for my little containers but hadn't thought of the push pins! Hurrah for that idea! Anyway, thanks for all three videos. They were very, very informative and helpful to me.
Tyvm for sharing Sandy. I bought some brusho powders that I haven’t touched.
Now I’m not so intimidated by them. You gave some awesome tips too!
So helpful - especially putting a tack in the tops. I have recently bought a mixing tray with 6 holes on 2 sides for 12 pots to hold the Brusho. This looks good as it holds the pots in place. I haven't used it yet but it looks hopeful.
I have watched this video (the series) 3 times during the past 2 weeks because I enjoy watching you play with this that much!! I did the same thing with your Brusho Bear too!! I can't wait to get some so I can make cool things with them!
+aygo Update: Finally got my order today. I order the set of 8 and the single bottles of the new Sunburst Yellow, Alazarin Crimson, and the white and the black plus the Ken Oliver Indigo to sort of make my own set. I am busting them open (or rather poking them open with a thumbtack) right now! I have been wanting them for over a year, but was not really sure and all the work you have done with them was what gave me the push to finally get them.
I really enjoyed this series. Thanks for taking the time to share with us!
That made perfect sense. I ordered individual colours myself.
Thanks for the videos - of course I had to have the Brusho 8 - now to find the time to play with them.
Sandy....perfect timing! I just purchased some of these powder paints and now I have your videos to help me see how use them. I'm so glad I didn't start on my own. I would have been sorely disappointed.
Thank you for sharing and the demo.
These were great videos. Not sure the powders will work for me but you made some beautiful things with them. Thanks for sharing the information. I might try them one of these days. Want to perfect regular watercolor first. Love your tutorials.
Thank's Sandy. Awesome
You are awesome!!! I will watch everything you do and everything you've done!!!!
I just discovered your three videos and watched them with great interest. I recently purchased the 12-piece set of Brusho colors and augmented it with three additional colors. I like the way you labeled them and used the thumbtacks for "handles". I found a small plastic container with a handle on the top that holds my Brushos perfectly. I will be doing the color chart and labels this week. Thanks for sharing all of your experience and knowledge about these two products. I feel like it helped me quite a bit.
Sherry Utah what container do you use? I haven't had luck with a container that fits them with a handle!! If you can't no worries I don't keep track of most container names myself but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask! Thanks!
yes, A lot of reds, but it's good!. Thank you, Sandy, for this nice tutoriel!, and for your tips!, have a nice day!
These videos are great, very informative, and totally understood. Thanks for sharing.
Thanku for sharing I love this idea .. And the white I use it a lot after I have applied my colours and dried to give a burst effect to creat light in a image I find amounts to the colours .
Thank you Sandy for this video series. I have been looking at both the Brusho and Color Burst for sometime now and I have just purchased the Brusho 24 pack from Etsy as I thought the price was fantastic in comparison to the price of the Color Burst.I am excited to receive them and start playing with them. I love your RUclips Channel and I always look forward to your next release.
I just had to have both,I'm just plain greedy, lol.
Great tutorials,thanks
Dawn from the UK
Have been curious about this product for awhile, don't like to buy something I may not use or understand. Thank you for your help.
Just found your site,. We have"nt got Brusho and Colorburst in New Zealand yet .im keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for all your tips.
You can find the Brusho product on line. I'm in the USA, and there is a company here called Blick Art. But, I'm sure there is something similar closer to home for you.
Thank you! These videos were very helpful. I have a small set of both. Guess I have to pull out the Brusho again. I found the color set I got was so dull. I'd love to know how to use these with stamps as in stamping with them. If you every have the time . . . just sayin' . Really love your videos.
You can't stamp with them, they're watercolor.
Thanks for sharing this video. I am a novice in the field of Brusho colours. What a good idea to to do so the color stickers on the potty. My only question is to use a wet brush for the smearing on the sticker, on the potty?
+41catty k Yes, a wet brush will move the color without getting crazy all over the place - and it makes you a "solid" swatch of the color at the same time.
How did you end up storing them? I have mine in a cake tin, set on another cake tin that has marbles in, like a lazy Susan. Works pretty good!
Just a plastic bin 😎
Sandy, I love your videos! You are very talented and great fun to listen to. I have a question. Are the Magical pigment powders like these powders?
No idea, I haven't heard of them?
StampNStitch From what I have seen, yes. The difference is magicals have a mica shimmer to them. I guess it would be similar to mixing perfect pearls with your colorburst, or brusho powders. That being said, I have not actually used them myself. I have only seen them used, and I have not yet added pearl dust to my colorbursts to see if that works yet, either. hehe I just imagine that is what would happen. Of course, now I want to do exactly that and see what happens. ^_^
Thanks for doing this series! I'm taking the newest Online Card Classes class that starts on Monday and I just got both of these and I really wanted a head start on the class. You are always such a fantastic source of knowledge! I have one question -- What size circle punch did you use? I apologize if I missed you saying the size. :) Thanks!
I'm not at home right now to check but I think it's the one inch?
+Sandy Allnock Thanks Sandy for the super quick reply. I wanted to take this opportunity to just say THANK YOU for sharing your talent with us. You are amazing!
I guess I was being a little lazy -- I could have just pulled my punches out to see which one will fit. ::grins::
I'm late to the party. I really enjoyed the comparison and the information. I like the Brusho 24 set and the way you swatched them. Did you ever find a container to fit them all? Where did you purchased the clear large head thumbtacks? Those are great.
Office Depot.
@@SandyAllnock1 Thank you so much. I can't wait to get the Brushos and create.
A lot of reds!
Yeah I was surprised to see so many! :)
what size thumb tacks /push pins do you use? do you have alink?
No I got mine at an office max that no longer exists but you can get them at Office Depot. I used the big fat ones to be easier on my fingers but regular ones can work too.
Will you do a chart for Distress Markers?
To do that I have to buy them all...yikes. At some point I may but so far no budget for that :)
Sandy Allnock In case you are interested. As I said, I haven't used them yet, but I am hoping to get some eventually. www.lindystampgang.com/magicals/
Could you spray the 1 inch round swatch instead of painting it with the brush?
Probably - but less messy to just paint it.
When you take the tack out of the bottle, there's a small amount of color on the tack. How do you prevent contamination of color. If you put the tack into another color, is this something to worry about??? What do you think?
Just don't mix them up :)
Brenda Romero put a color dot on the tack? The same way sandy did with the circle punch just do one smaller for the tack.
I was wondering what kind of adhesive you used on the circles? I basically was doing the same thing as you but I used Ranger Multi-matte medium. I waited till they were good and dry and repoked the hole and the circles keep popping off the lid.
+NanetteMT I recommend BeCreative tape - its SUPER sticky, and the adhesive will keep the paper and plastic together. Multi Matte isn't made for plastic like this.
I have the Elizabeth Craft tape. Do you think that will work? Also, did you use watercolor paper?
+NanetteMT I haven't used the EC tape but it might be the same. Give it a try! And watercolor paper circles.
Thanks Sandy!
I tried them years ago and then realized for that price that they weren’t even lightfast. Was not for me or my budget😊
