I like the "bump" feature. After lock back, insert the mag with force and it will load without hitting the slide release. I have over 2500 rounds with 0 malfunction with a variety of ammo.
I've made the Echelon my "go to war/duty gun." I installed Trijicon's RCR enclosed optic, & a light/laser combo; big fan of the pistol, but I feel like the trigger's edges could be more rounded, as the trigger has a very wide profile.
I bought a hellcat earlier this year and love everything about it. The salesman did tell me that the apex triggers work really well with springfields newer guns I plan on getting one for my hellcat but I don't plan on changing anything when I get my echelon
I got the echelon when it first dropped I got 4800 rds through it I truly truly love it no issues ever it eats everything. Also the XD-M elite 10mm is a Tank
Fantastic review! I love that you covered in much better detail some features of the gun that others don't touch on such as the LCI and the specifics on "why" different slide stops are made differently. Very insightful! Also love that you didn't gripe on the soft trigger reset. I don't know why folks want a loud "click" when the gun resets, the "click" is simply the disconnector release which is mechanically different between most guns and why a S&W M&P doesn't click as hard as a Walther PDP. As for optic screws, I just use what the optic manufacturer provides, never what the gun provides, mainly as there's deck-height differences between like optics of the same footprint, such as the SRO vs the RMR (excluding the RMR-HD, which is just an SRO deck with an RMR hood grafted onto it). DP Pro, E-Flex, Romeo 1 Pro all use 6-40 screws but of different lengths so as long as the female hole on the slide matches that same 6-40 thread size and pitch I just stick to the screws provided by the manufacturer. Further, vibratite>loctite when it comes to slide-rider optic screws
Same. Went in for a long pushed off glock 19/17. I like metal guns... Anyway. Guy showed me the new trade in. Played with it for awhile and said fuck it. Next day thought id made a mistake, until i went to the range... I fired off one mag and was astounded. I handed it to the range officer who tried it and he looked at me like wtf!? We both shot his lightly customized glock 17 immediately after and agreed the echelon was just better out the box. Glocks are good guns for sure, BUT the echelon is a done deal, no fucking around with it needed. The trigger is excellent. Best $499 ive spent on a handgun.
I absolutely love my echelon and have way over 500 rounds through it. I also started out with an E Flex but two failed and now I am running a Trijicon RMR which seems to be a great Dot.
Love my Echelon! Put on a Holosun 508t rdx2, and a nightstick 550xl. Added a Ndx stainless steel guide rod too! Fricken tack driver. Putting a little extra weight on that pistol made a great pistol even better.
17:19 I like Springfield. I'm so hooked on 2011's right now. I've thought about selling all mine and replacing them with different 2011's. Currently I have three 2011's in my EDC rotation... 1. The 5" Springfield Prodigy DS 2. The Bul Armory SAS Tac 2 4.25 and 3. The Staccato P which it's my newest and current EDC.
You didn't even touch on that it's an FCU system like the Sig P320 and P365, so if they ever get around to selling compact/carry grips and compact/carry slides/barrels you can put the FCU into a smaller package to make it a carry gun. I bought one of these at launch and have loved it, it's very easy and natural to shoot. I'm hoping SA will come out with some other calibers for it, as I'd love to have on of these in 10m or 40SW.
Springfield said that they have partnered with Icarus for a metal grip module 😍😍😍. I don’t know release date but it’s happening. I’m sure it’s just the start!
Awesome review bro! I been eyeing the Echelon as a duty rig. I have others but I’ve made upgrades to them that may cause some reliability issues. I haven’t had any but it’s still something that I have in the back of my mind. The Echelon seems to have everything I would want without having to upgrade. Really considering getting one.
Seriously, if you come across a trade in for cheap jump on it. Its unbeleivable to me how many marks it hit. I cant think of a single thing to change other than maybe the sights if you prefer 3 dots. Mine came with 3 dot tritium but standard is the u notch rear.
It’s super short actually, shortest on any stock striker fired trigger I’ve ever seen or felt. I was letting off very slow as to not over shoot the reset. 🤷🏽♂️
Awesome vid !!! This is my new favorite baby !!! What holster do you use? Hands down I enjoy this this more than anything I own the Prodigy is pretty close 😊 in my opinion.
@@jasonauchmuty1617Springfield gets a lot of flak for past legislation they supported. The firearms work but that legislation left a sour taste in the gun community!!
They worked hard to undo the mistake. I personally have a Prodigy, and even after breaking it and having to spend about 350 to have it fixed, I feel like Springfield has some decent stuff on offer (CS kinda blows). I'd consider an Echelon if the P10C wasn't so affordable.@@spacecomet128
The mounting system takes over 30 different optics. Sending screws to mount 30 different optics seems unreasonable. Good review. I love my Echelon. I have 3200 rounds through it and it keeps trucking along. At about 1500 rounds I was having FTF issues. I discovered it was a mag issue. I pulled it from the rotation and no issues since.
Hey I follow you on instagram as well and I’m waiting on you to post a video of the HK 556 with the EOTECH vudu 1-10. Patiently waiting Bro to see that video in my notifications
My echelon with the surefire x300u and safariland 6360rds are on my duty belt. Fantastic gun. Hellcat pro with either 4bros iwb or my 945 industries for concealed
I have issues when I bear down on the pistol, the back strap will disconnect and slide out of position. The grip should pin in or at least lock in with a system other than a push tab.
internally glock doesnt need to change. it simply works and its simple stupid. where i agree is the slide serrations. ive said it for years glock needs better slide serrations. the cog system? i dont know, if they make it to were I can switch from a full size down to a compact or even subcompact without it costing the same as 2-3 guns then i think the echelon will hold the edge out over glock so long as it proves itself in the reliability department.
Nothing was really wrong with the mags. Mag plate had a small issue but not consistent with the rest of us that have ZERO issues. Just make sure they are on correctly. Mine is perfect....for ME. Just read the rest of the comments in here. Says it all.
It was an easy fix. The tab was on the inside instead of the outside. Any of the ones done by the purchaser were just put together I correctly. I've got 2 20rd mags and neither have done what everyone says is such a big problem.

no audible or tactile reset, I have a CZ p10 and that trigger is way better than the springfield
some brands go abroad, but springfield simply had bought a country to produce its guns. Croatia.
👍
G19 for EDC.
And echelon for comp
Both comp’d & rmr
The best feature is the mounting system IMO.
The Echelon trigger is nowhere near the CZ P10c’s.

So is the echelon basically a Glock 17? But a little better just later to the party?
If Glock has been the benchmark for 40 years, why then worry about if they have make any innovations or not. GLOCK JUST WORKS...

Yeah, cover the great factory grip with Goon tape.
