Damn we're already 4 hours in and we haven't even gotten to Diamond and Pearl yet! I admire your extreme dedication to this! I haven't watched Pokemon in years, so these videos will be super helpful for the later seasons.
Sorry it's not more, but thank you so much for this series! It's St. Patrick's Day and I get the night off with my sweetheart and can't wait to watch this with him. Appreciate you, J Money!
Holy crap, I didn't expect part 2 so soon! I'm really looking forward to watching this as gen 2 is my favorite. There was just something so magical and mysterious about how Johto and it's new Pokemon were slowly revealed. Nowadays, a new region is given, but being the first, Johto was like "Wait, there's another entire set of these creatures?!" It was a whole new world we lived in, but you still had to catch them all.
If I remember correctly, in Japan the Indigo League arc, the Orange Island arc, and the Johto League arc are all considered part of the Original Series of the Pokemon anime, so you aren't wrong in saying they're two (well three) parts of the same whole.
@@TORchic1 Funny story, The Orange Islands only even exist because Gold & Silver got delayed and they had no new material to work off of yet. But yeah, Kanto, Orange Islands, and all 3 Johto seasons are all technically Original Series.
As someone who fell off the anime long ago, it’s cool to have these recaps as both a bit of nostalgia and to catch up on what missed as Ash and Pikachu end their journey. Thanks for putting so much effort into these! Side note. It’d be kind of cool if the new characters went to the other regions and we see how things have changed. Maybe see older versions the Gym Leaders and even let poor Janine have her anime debut.
Damn. I remember watching that episode where the main trio goes their separate ways for the first time. I freaking cried. Even now, I am teary-eyed as I'm typing this. This has, truly, been one epic journey that has been a massive part of my whole life. Thank you Pokémon, and thank you, Jordan, for doing these recaps. Have been loving them, and I am looking forward to the following parts
Honestly the best thing about ash finally getting to come home and being done is that Bayleaf's Year long depression that's been going on for 20 years Is can finally be over. She's like a puppy I love her.
Knowing that Prof. Oak has known Ash from such a long time ago is such a crazy twist that really makes Pokemon an ageless classic that anyone can enjoy.
Particularly I like Ash’s “who wants a weak chalizard, anyway” moment, as he runs away crying. To me it’s clear it’s not what Ash believes, but as a 10ish years old is what he thinks chalizard “wants” to hear as what will motivate, or avoid a internal conflict for, chalizard the most. Let’s remember he’s a kid. May not be the smartest strategy, but again… he’s 10yr or so.
The Casey/Eleckid episode is the first Pokémon episode that was produced in high definition and more digital animation. That’s why after that episode you will see a very clear color and animation smoothing difference
I'm still emotionally recovering from Misty having to separate from the group. Loved their dynamic and it just never quite felt the same afterwards with other companions.
Loved the first part, just starting on the second. Really enjoy the detail you go into. There aren't many videos about Ash's full journey that go step-by-step. Really appreciated!
I can't believe it took me all these years after watching this video to notice the change into the hoen series art style as the season gets closer to the end. It's little things like that, that makes me love animation especially from pokemon
Jordan thank you so much for these videos, this is making me feel so nostalgic and it’s super helpful with catching up with the Pokémon lore, you’re doing great, I hope you stick through this series all the way until the end
The ad didn't even start and I already liked the video. Jordan you're such a boss, I love your deep dives on my favorite childhood media. Having ADHD sometimes focusing on a single task when I work from home or solo can be challenging but your videos are descriptive, vivid and long enough to allow me to more effectively work on those tasks! 🙏🙏
I'm really enjoying this trip down memory lane of Ash's journey. It takes me back to watching the show as a kid and I'm enjoying the nostalgia. Super looking forward to the rest of this series.
i remember as a kid going with my dad during halftime of a Jet game rent the latios latias movie from blockbuster...now im almost 25 with my own career where does the time go 0.0 thank you for reminding me of that moment it feels so vivid now. I never would've remembered it if not for this video
The episode where Ash, Misty, and Brock part ways aired right before difficult times in my life. It was the last full episode I ever watched and truly think it was the beginning of the end of my childhood.
I'm really glad I came across your series, I have been wanting to go through pokemon from the start but I didn't really want to sit through all of the episodes, so this is perfect. I'm looking forward to part 3, this has been a delight ouo
The detail you put into this series makes it my favourite way to experience the anime. I don't have much knowledge on the franchise. I watched most of the first season 7 years ago and I got to gym 5 in Pokémon Gold twice (once on emulator, once on GBC because it was very sunny that summer); That's all I know. Thanks to your efforts I'm starting to really appreciate this franchise on a deeper level and see why it's so beloved by people of all ages.
wow, didn't expect another Feature Length video so soon when i saw the upload date of Part 1, AMAZING WORK This series is such a nostalgia trip man thank you for that man
I've been watching some of the first season's episodes and I love how much heart there is in them. This retrospective is so much fun, I remember so many of these moments and forgot some great ones. I didn't remember Gary's ending, going off to become a researcher. Great job going through so many episodes and thanks for all the care you put into this!
The quality of these videos is astounding. These videos have tremendous purpose and are very important for people trying to relive the show. Thank you for the videos!
You've done an unbelievable job with this one mate, new subscriber confirmed. Wonderful powers of summarisation, great watch, got the nostalgia flowing free. Thanks!
Please keep this up!!!! I will never bring myself to watch the whole of the anime as I’m already shrouded investing my time to dive deep into the games only… so this series of yours Jordan is the furthest I’ve ever delved into the Franchises anime successfully so thank you so much for saving me a huge amount of time!!!!! Subscribed after part 1
Bulbasaur fake refusing to shake Squirtle's hand is one of the most underrated moments. Shows so much the attitude that Bulbasaur had and the friendship he had cemented over the years with Squirtle
I absolutely loved this one. I forgot how awesome Jhoto was . This brought back all the memories and feels . Thank you so much for this . I dant wait for part 3 . 😁
You help my work shifts not feel so boring. Thanks for the amount of work you put into your vid’s jordan. You a real one. Also he’ll yeah, hey Arnold is my favorite Nickelodeon cartoon too.
Bro this was so quick wtf, just past halfway on part 1. I assumed the effort being put into these was going to make it a monthly series. Sub earned many times over
I love how seamlessly the stories connected from season to season in this era. Orange Islands ended with the group being sent to New Bark Town to start the quest of delivering the GS Ball, and Johto ends with Ash setting off for the Hoenn region after tons of build up! Gods, the Johto seasons were truly wonderful!
Thank you for actually taking your time and watching Pocket Monster! A lot of people make videos about the anime without even knowing a whole lot about it. For the views. So it's nice having someone actually being open to watch it.
I can't believe Pokemon has impact in my life. I stopped watching the series when I entered College. Thanks for giving nostalgia on this video. A worth to watch. 💖
I grew up watching the show a bit when I was younger and playing the games a lot .. I’m 27 now and have found time to come back and suddenly became interested in collecting the old handhelds and playing my old Pokémon games it’s just as addicting as it was when I was younger even all these years later !
Left for vacation after watching the last video, came back today to finish it. Went to check your channel to see if you've made the next one and apparently it came out an hour ago 😂 what luck!
What a treat on this lovely Irish holiday! A certifiable pot of gold, indeed. And the pot of gold still at the end of my rainbow Is a Big Fat Liar review.
The amount of work in these videos. I watched both parts back to back after realizing I watched your MTV videos already. I had to subscribe now and I am looking forward to the next part. I only watched the anime up until the beginning of Hoenn. I tried to watch further during lockdown but it was just too much and Pokemon really is not something to binge for me lol so I am excited to get to view more of the anime through your videos. Thank you so much for these!
I love this video for so many reasons, I've recently been showing my kids Pokemon and with all the new generations I haven't paid attention to since gen 3. It's like a whole new adventure
Even though I grew up on and still love Pokemon, I never thought I'd enjoy this series recap this much! Looking forward to the next part and crossing my fingers for the potential manga recap!
The Johto seasons always felt very underlooked to me, so it's nice that they're finally being brought into light as they do have some pretty noteworthy and defining moments in the series as a whole, as mentioned in the video. (Also Wobbuffet joins in these seasons and is longest active Team Rocket Pokemon besides Meowth, and that's pretty cool too)
I agree. It's the longest season (almost 300 episodes) and Justin is doing such a great job, but he couldn't put everything in this. I also liked the more laid back approach Ash takes, as he has many unevolved Pokémon throughout a long period of time, with lots of fillers with little to no arcs. The rythm is very calm, so that's why many overlook it. And also it's the last season drawn and animated by hand! So precious.
I am absolutely loving this nostalgia trip down memory lane. I haven’t watched Pokémon since I was a kid and catching up in this format is so fun. Thank you!
Part of me wishes I found this series after you cover the final part of the journey so I could watch it all in one go, but another part of me is happy I found it as it’s being produced so I can properly anticipate it because I don’t know what happens next
Ah man this is making me nostalgic....I admit, I gravitate more towards mature Ash in gen 3, gen 4, gen 6 and gen 8 anime, but seeing his start to getting there is something special. But man I'm really looking forward to you covering generation 6 anime. I don't know why, but Ash there was so well written.
I thought it would be hard to top part one but this is another brilliant video! It was great to see Ash grow as a trainer as well as Charizards growth. Beating Gary in the Pokémon league definitely the highlight for me! Looking forward to part 3 😍
Thanks for the wonderful work and time. I dropped off Pokemon around this time and only caught a few episodes here and there on TV as the years go by. When I heard that Ash's journey is finally ending I wanted to watch everything from the beginning but dread going through 25+ seasons. This is a great alternative to catch up on a lot of seasons until I decide to watch maybe for the Black and White or Sun and Moon seasons.
Awesome stuff, man. Just watched the first one last night and then this pops up today? Beautiful timing. Looking forward to seeing the whole thing come together.
Ash vs Gary is one of my all-time favorite anime battles. They built up to this through two regions. And you have to love every time Charizard returns in epic fashion, be it during a movie or the show.
The story of the 3rd movie’s development is just some really thought provoking and trippy stuff, the feeling of being lost during the modern world and trying to find the feelings of days long gone (with the dinosaur wanting to return to its friends their resting place and the writer realizing his age when at a hospital and feeling some existentialism regarding that). I’m wondering if there’s a trope regarding this since another anime I saw Brave of Legend Da Garn had something similar with the spirit of a dinosaur represented by their fossil asking that they be buried and not disturbed so he may stay with his friends he has been protecting even after death. meanwhile the final movie has the most reality warping happening caused by grief and loss (the unnown are terrifying seeing this) the visuals are great
Bro, your vids have really had me feeling super nostalgic, especially with the Pokémon and hey Arnold vids. Here is a show I just recently remembered that you may find fun to do a vid about, Chop Socky Chooks!
Johto had quite the impact starting off with the theme song which really nails down the feeling of a whole new world of Pokemon to see and experience. I also must agree that Cyndaquil is best boy/girl.
Johto was a banger as a whole. Each of them were great. 😂 Unlike Hoenn where I only liked the 1st and 3rd song. I didn’t really like any of Black and White. But the XY/Z were great too.
Thanks so much for watching! I hope you enjoy Part 2 to this long journey, let me know some of your favorite moments from the Johto region adventures!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! Like this means so much to me as a 28yo boomer who grew up with all of these episodes!❤
You just reminded me how much I miss Casey.
This has been undoubtedly the best ash Ketchum docuseries on Ash Ketchum/Pokemon Ive ever seen thank you for your hard work can't wait to see them all
The pikachu ketchup episode
Love your videos so nostalgic man
That scene of Ash, Misty and Brock at the crossroad and choosing to go their separate ways is one of the most memorable moments in the show.
😢
@@TheSuperBoyProject 1:28:31
For me it was the episode misty said good by to ash, because she was crying. And she forgot all about him owing a bike
I'm not crying your crying shut up 😭😭
I remember seeing that as a kid, and being sad/confused thinking that was the end of the whole show. I didn’t get the concept of seasons yet LMAO
I am so glad someone decided to do this in video format. I will forever cherish this series

Kanto/Johto really feels like two halves of one whole, which is why I love them
Just like Gold,Silver and Crystal to Red, Blue and Yellow games
If I remember correctly, in Japan the Indigo League arc, the Orange Island arc, and the Johto League arc are all considered part of the Original Series of the Pokemon anime, so you aren't wrong in saying they're two (well three) parts of the same whole.

I just finished part 1 yesterday and was dreading having to wait long for part 2. This is perfect timing!
Yeah I was surprised how fast this came out Thank you Jordan
The best part about Ash's character development is how he went from unable to punch Mewtwo in the first movie, to full on yeeting him in the sequel.

Johto was a banger as a whole. Each of them were great. 😂 Unlike Hoenn where I only liked the 1st and 3rd song. I didn’t really like any of Black and White. But the XY/Z were great too.
Cant explain to you how much I appreciate part one and two
Loving this series! Great job on it Jordan!
Thank you for these videos. I’m really enjoying them. I’ve never watched the full anime and this is a great way to see the story. Thank you!
