Happy 4th of July!!
My white dial Diver 300M was ordered on the rubber strap because I don't like wearing watches on bracelets. I know that puts me in the minority of most watch enthusiasts, but it's how I prefer to wear my watches. I also know it will probably hurt resale value if I ever sell it in the future, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. The OEM bracelet is too fussy and jewelry-like for my tastes, doesn't taper, and I won't wear the thing anyway, so why even get it? The Omega rubber strap suits the watch remarkably well and is worth the cost, in my opinion. That said, I frequently wear my watch on a black Isofrane or an inexpensive Barton Elite Silicone strap as a way to shake things up with textures and shapes. The Seamaster Diver 300M is a remarkably fine watch that looks great on a staggering array of straps.
That Seamaster is the most beautiful watch I've ever seen and the first Omega I've had the pleasure of trying on
I truly think that the design elements of this Seamaster are next level. I love the cohesion in the design language from strap to bracelet, and the contemporary take on a legendary brand's iconic piece
The buckle also has a shape that helps it sit lower (less likely to catch or scratch) than the usual mass produced ones.
When I came for SMP (blue ceramic dial), the AD proposed me 7% discount. I asked for 10%. The salesman made a very strange thing. He refused to give extra 3%, but proposed to give me the blue rubber strap in addition to 7% as a bonus. The cost of the strap was higher than the additional 3%, so I bought the watch right away.
7%? You got scammed. You can pick this watch up for 30% discount on C24.
@@George98William the only people getting scammed are the people who purchase a 1000% marked up rolshit 😅😅😅
Rubber straps are a cost to retail customers but are supplied free to the AD
I bought today on rubber strap with 30% discount!
I bought mine a while ago on the blue strap. In sunlight it gets a petrol blue colour that compliments the bezel, indicies & especially that handset. Its designed and executed perfectly for the watch. The black strap dulls the pop and shine of the watch itself.
I just purchased it on bracelet and wish I would've researched the straps also, I am glad you said that about the black rubber strap I was going to purchase it. Makes sense that the blue would be better and make the watch look better. Thanks again.
The rubber strap is still in good condition?
I bought this watch in blue on bracelet. Paid retail for the rubber strap. It's very high quality, worth it in my opinion. Aftermarket ones just don't cut it
Where can you get an OEM rubber strap?
I like getting all the oem options with a watch. It's a great price negotiating tool to have all the strap options thrown in with your deal. My Ad was so happy I didn't ask about rolex he just made me a solid deal with the strap included and no real hassle.
Whats solid
Nothing beats the metal omega bracelet. Itself and the clasp are the best in the business
No, the Rolex oyster with glidelock clasp is a superior and more comfortable bracelet, I have both.
I freaking LOVE the bracelet and just ordered the strap. Tried it on with both and both are awesome
Love Omega, but do not like any of their bracelets. Speedmaster on leather & Seamaster on rubber.
What do you think of the new 3861 Bracelet? I think the majority of feedback on it has been extremely positive, hopefully Omega will start tapering other bracelets as well.
Man, love their bracelets. So recognizable. The Speedmaster bracelet not only tapers, but has micro adjustability in the clasp, which is awesome. I also own the leather strap w/folding clasp, but in the summer, when it gets hot and or sweaty, it's annoying to adjust the leather. Where as the bracelet i can adjust without taking the watch off the wrist. Much prefer Omega's bracelets, for their adjustability while on the go. For me the seamaster bracelet is awesome because it DOESN'T taper. Such a nod to the classic SMP... You can recognize a SMP bracelet from a mile away, and I love it.
@@erikkalifornia5182 I have a Mido Ocean Star that I can’t seem to stop wearing because the clasp adjustment is so easy to do. And it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than the Omega so I don’t feel scared to take it in the ocean
That's for the video Bruce, I was feeling down because of some house repairs that came up (will be paid from the watch fund) but for some reason your videos are always uplifting and put me in a better mood to enjoy the 4th! Have a great holiday!
Thats nice to hear man thanks. I hope things resolve quickly and you get that next piece 👍
I was skeptical but wow - there’s way more detail in the strap than I expected. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised - I’ve tried on the Aqua Terra rubber strap and nothing has felt better on wrist.
Yeah I’d love to get the OEM strap for my Aqua Terra. Probably costs $300+.
I like both. Your point? Lol however, the black rubber does not go with that model. Needs to be blue.
Point of the video was to show the strap and its details :) I like both too
Blue would be my personal preference too :)
Blue Bruce 👍
I think Bruce is trying to show it's quality and worthiness more than the outlook
Went from steel to rubber, it's worth the money. It is perfectly executed, wears superb and shows pretty much no signs of wear. Changes the look of the watch dramatically. Only downside: takes longer to strap on and off. You could have it also with a folding clasp.
I bought an aftermarket bracelet, I needed something that was tapered. I also had the black rubber included.
The watch is perfect now.
Can you dress it up well, formal and casual? I’m really keen on getting one soon
considering people nowadays just wear apple watch for formal wear as well, im sure no one gives af
I too own this watch and love it. It's a great bracelet but 99% of the time it's on the blue rubber strap. It's very comfortable. Really can't go wrong with either but if you do purchase, go for the blue OEM strap.
I bought mine on the rubber strap and absolutely love it, I know I made the right choice for me as I’d never wear it on the bracelet
@Gino-Pio Hsu Now and again yes I’ll wear it while swimming, the strap feels great can’t fault it at all 👍🏻
@@kopite1892ynwa I’m not a fan of Seamaster bracelet, it looks to dressy to me and I wanted the watch for more casual occasions. I bought mine on the rubber strap as well. I do plan on getting an Omega bracelet in the future, either a 3 link PO or the bracelet from Bond Seamaster. I do love the strap and especially the light weight of it.
Rick
I think having the original version on such a class watch is just right. I would recommend it to wear the rubber only from time to time when you need it. It is like a special sports wear option to add to your watch. The DNA of the watch is the stainless steel for sure.
Yeah, the SMP bracelet is so fucking class... So recognizable. People are upset it doesn't taper, but I like it because it doesn't taper... I buy my SMP because it's a SMP, and the bracelet is in the DNA, as you put it. I love that Omega isn't trying to be like Rolex's Oyster bracelet.
Agree with Bruce- the rubber band, while expensive, pairs very nicely with the Speedmaster. Sure you can find far cheaper bands, but having invested so much already in the watch, the additional investment (purchased watch with the bracelet) made sense to me. We all have our own sense of value, but perhaps we can agree the band has many nice features.
I got one, I actually preferred the rubber strap initially but I got the bracelet for the value. Its a great strap. I Hope they come out with more colors.
More colors would be awesome I would buy some accent straps!
As a bracelet guy as well, I totally agree with you on getting any watch on a bracelet... if possible. Awesome video, Bruce! The Sea Master is my all time favorite watch...... also I think go with the blue strap, it would be so cool on the blue one.
I would get the blue over the black for your model.
The blue looks very dark also in some lights (though this is defo black)
I would love to see a similar review of the new Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra rubber strap
Hi, I paid £95 here in the UK for the micro adjustable clasp for my SMPc, expensive yes but it's Omega so just go for it. Well done again Bruce, top review again 👍
Thank you bro
I have the black dial version of your watch, but went with the stainless bracelet. I agree that the strap is underrated. I really love (and own) the Aqua Terra rubber strap with the stitching on the sides and the texture down the center. They're both great. The rubber strap is great for everyday wear, but if a person is investing in a single luxury watch, I would get the stainless bracelet every time. Only because that would enable a wider range of usage. Cheers!
When getting the Seamaster, I recommend getting the watch with the bracelet first and then buy the rubber strap. My Omega boutique actually recommended this to me due to the fact of how much the bracelet itself costs versus the rubber strap and the buckle (yes you have to buy the buckle separately). Buying the watch rubber versus metal is literally a few hundred dollars difference, whereas the rubber versus metal by themselves are about a grand difference.
I purchased two straps, theycc V always wear out, but OEM buckles are nearly impossible to get. Love the bracelet as well!
All I know is that the rubber deployant on the planet ocean is the best quality strap and clasp I’ve ever experienced.
Also had a rubber deployant from an ETNZ crono on a regular Seamaster 300 professional chrono.
It was very good as well.
Thanks Bruce for making this video. It’s just saved me getting robbed on eBay. A guy had put up a new old stock. When I got it. Just didn’t feel fully Omega quality. Anyhow I watched this video. The retaining button in the lug and the non fixed first retaining lug. Mad me realise it was a fake. So thanks Bruce. Will just order one direct I think. Keep up the good work. Cheers Brad.
I purchased like you did and the same dial color, the bracelet feels great and the adjustability to fit is the best i have seen in a bracelet. The Boutique was kind enough to include that same strap in purchase. i just had to pay for the pin buckle. But the "64 size" rubber strap is too big for my wrist. So I'm upgrading to the smaller Blue rubber strap with folding clasp. Its great to have both because they both look great with that color dial
A very interesting watch , the colour is very unusual for me , it was first used in the in the 4th generation Seamaster ,I also had a3th generation Seamaster with black dial .I have the same Seamaster with gray dial , one of my favourite watches.
I got both on my white and really love the strap. And thanks for pointing out all the detail. Under a magnifying lens it pops even more.
My watch included both, a 2013 Seamaster, ETNZ Americas Cup.
I have that exact watch, I bought it on a bracelet but 3 months ago I saw a brand new OEM blue strap on ebay for 200 and I had to get it, im happy with it and I love it, it makes me feel more relaxed because I don’t like the bracelet scratching with jackets/tables/etc... also looks more sporty
Great video, though there’s nothing better than the first Gen Planet Ocean.
I have the white dial variant on the bracelet and have just purchased the black rubber strap. I got it for £216 (with discount) at a omega boutique. It’s extremely comfortable and great quality. Get the blue strap for your watch.👍🇬🇧
Come on, Man. I must respectfully disagree. Right now on Ebay, somebody is trying to sell an Omega NATO strap for $125. I've got the same strap from BluShark. They charge $32; and it's a better strap. Isofrane and Crafter Blue make excellent rubber straps; for 35% of what Omega wants. If you pay $150 for a NATO or rubber strap; then you're buying a name, not quality.
💯
100? 100 what?
Omega natos are nice. The nicest I've seen come from phenomanato and they charge about 40 and will make them to your order length. I think rubber is a different ball game. Bigger differences than inexpensive nylon
Blusharks fray like hell though
They do. But when they are new, they are beautiful.
Buy it on the bracelet. Add the strap from the X33 Regatta with a deployant clasp.
Bought the same silver Seamaster on the bracelet and just picked up the blue rubber strap, thanks for the video!
I have the blue dial variant of this watch, bought brand new in February. The pushers on the clasp have became stuck in so it had to be sent away for a warranty repair to Omega. I picked up the rubber strap for it while I was at the service desk so I can still wear it while the bracelet is away. Not sure how much they usually are but I got it for £85 ($100ish). Looks great on the rubber.
I also managed to pick up a Explorer 1 while I was in. First time enquiring about it and got it on the spot!
Nicely done!!
This is a coincidence. I purchased my blue rubber strap for my chrome 300 today from my local omega boutique . It was £246 for strap and buckle , the equivalent of around 300 dollars . The fact is it’s a good addition to the set going stock . It also changes the complexion of the watch which is great and can also be a bit of a attraction to buyers if you wish to sell . It’s also the most comfortable rubber strap I’ve ever owned I just can’t wear a lot of the cheaper rubber straps as I find them quite uncomfortable . I would rather pay
extra for quality that I will wear .ive no regrets think it’s a good buy .
You should look at other third party straps to review and compare. There’s a bunch of quality makers out there. Hirsch performance, rubber b, isofrane etc.
Perfect! I Think the black makes the watch pop! I'll be getting this combo. Thanks
I bought the Seamaster 300 with the blue dial, the jeweler's website showed a rubber strap with a folding clasp, it was a mistake on their part, it had to be a buckle, but because it was their fault, I still got this strap with clasp for cheap price
I like the rubber strap option, that are much more comfortable than you would think. I would buy the the blue when you are able.
I have been debating a bracelet for mine, I have this exact dial but on rubber. I haven't been able to pull the trigger on it since idk if I would like it. But for you Bruce, get the blue strap it looks better than the black for this color scheme.
I bought the OEM NATO Strap (blue/gray) for mine, and put the bracelet back on after a day. I also bought an Everest rubber strap for the Air King, which is similar to the Omega OEM one, and changed back to the oyster bracelet immediately. Lots of money for them to stay in cases. At least Omega sends theirs in a really nice package...even the invoice had its own presentation sleeve...lol.
Haha thats cool I'm looking forward to that as silly as it sounds
I spent $180 for the OEM nato strap for mine... well worth it!

I can't believe Tudor doesn't sell OEM rubber straps, although to be fair they are one of the few who sell OEM fabric straps. I just bought a strap from RubberB for my Black Bay 58, which is a specially made strap for that specific watch. They do the same for many Rolex watches and other luxury pieces. Although it was costly (about $240), the watch is definitely of a similar quality to the watch you reviewed here. If you're interested in putting any of your Rolexes on rubber, definitely check out either RubberB or Everest (their main competitor).
I just bought the rubber strap with deployment buckle. Trying to comprehend a cost, I thought I was looking at around $1000, but ended up paying $500 from my AD👍. I only started looking at the rubber bc I had a defective metal bracelet clasp and have been waiting for a replacement from AD for goin on 2 weeks now 😫
What’s your thoughts on the deployant John? I’ve one on order but been told it will take three months so wondering if it’s worth the wait or I just change my order to the pin buckle version?
@@jamesjohnson1866 i'm still waiting currently. Been exactly 1 week. My AD was confident it didn't take more than 2 or 3 weeks (hopefully lol).
At least I received my steel bracelet clasp back. I was one of the lucky people to get s defective clasp. And now mine is new again 👍
I initially wanted to buy black dial version on rubber strap but now decided to purchase on bracelet and also buy black rubber strap at same time. I want to avoid blue dial and chrome dial as feel the rubber blue strap is too bright and will limit how many times it can be worn. My thoughts are the black rubber strap goes best with black dial and white dial versions.
Take it from me folks. Swatch was backordered on the rubber, so I ordered one on ETSY. Quality was not good. My biggest issue with aftermarket rubber straps, is you typically cannot use the OEM Omega spring bars. When you remove the bracelet, and take out the spring bars, the first thing you notice is the quality, the heft of the spring bars. The aftermarket rubber i got from ETSY, came with some shitty spring bars that were curved. No way am I attaching a rubber strap with a shitty spring bar to my $5,000 watch. The Omega OEM rubber also has titanium inserts were they attach to the watch for extra security. Definitely get the OEM rubber strap.
I use the rubber strap on my PO and love it, especially in the summer time! 👍
That's what I did and I saved a lot of money, almost got the rubber strap for nothing but I only paid about $85 extra over the price of the bracelet only.
Good video Bruce you showed the entire strap unlike most other vids.👍🏼 I have the same watch you have but may add the white dial 300 with strap one day. Then I could switch the bracelet onto it if I want to and put the gray/ blue Omega NATO on the chrome dial watch.
Hey Bruce you should really try to get the blue strap it looks great with the chrome dial.
Agree that it is good to be brand consistent with the strap, whether rubber or leather.
Having said that, if you are able to find less expensively on EBay etc., even better.
I have my eyes set on - Tantalum Sedna Gold 210.60.42.20.99.001. Wish if they got rid of the helium button though.
If you can spend a few thousand on a watch you can also spend a couple hundred on a strap let's be real. The ones that would never "spend that much money for a piece of rubber" are also the ones that will not get the watch or simply hated the rubber in the first place.
I think you are spot on
I loved your video and makes me want to purchase the rubber strap for my Diver 300. I hope it looks as good in my blue version.
Exquisite is one of the great ADs. Although they are ADs for an amazing range of great “established” brands, Exquisite will take on new brands that are just cutting their teeth in the world market at a broad spectrum of price ranges. Even a modest budget can find interesting out of the ordinary horology at Exquisite.
The salesperson probably took off abit more % from both the SMP and the rubber strap so that his sales stats has more ips(items per sale)
You forgot to mention the titanium insert on one end of the strap!
Rubber strap really comfortable and makes it an instant everyday watch. Totally worth it. I bought both bracelet and rubber.
Hoe much are cost ? Rubber and bracelet can write it

I have my Seamaster on an aftermarket silicone strap. I can't justify paying the price of the OEM strap.
I think they actually look better on ISOfrane straps than the OEM strap
Danny T I paid £30 off amazon for a replica strap and it’s just as good as the oem and that’s because the oem rubber strap is a cheap rubbish strap. The oris rubber straps are half the price of omega and double the quality plus it has a deployment buckle
@@bensmith4666 I just ordered one from a local dealer. I have the Zealande. I'll confirm or ridicule your previous post when it arrives.
you can get a replica version of this rubber strap from etsy for around $40. i have one and haven't had any issues with it. looks great.
Forget the bracelet cuz the strap looks and feels way better. Also you picked the best color combo too! 1171 bracelet is way nicer btw
Looks better on the rubber. I don’t like the seamaster bracelet design. But I would buy it with the bracelet. So if I wanted to sell it , it would be easier to get rid of
Bought a blue rubber oem strap this week in omega boutique. They threw in a beautiful travel box that seems to go for about £100. So this offset the increased cost vs high end third party straps.
Hi how much was the oem strap from the boutique?
@@smokee3820 around £200 for the strap and the buckle
Thanks Bruce, great video. The OEM rubber strap is great. Something you didn't mention. The floating keeper has a bead of rubber on the underside to lock it to the strap, so once it's locked it can't slide around. On your wrist shot, you didn't have that engaged ;).
Also, if you're spending $5,000 on a watch, a rubber strap with buckle for $320 is not that ridiculous. The OEM strap is def worth it.
Ute watch Co (formerly toxicnato) has great isofrane straps. Have one on my matte blue squale 1521. Perfect!!
Common wisdom says to buy the watch on the bracelet and then buy the OEM rubber strap. But with the highly expense Omega runner strap, makes more sense to buy the watch with the rubber strap and then find the stainless one from someone who wants to sell theirs.
Got both for mine and a nato strap. But it’s hard work getting the bracelet off.
Yep, and try not to scratch your 5K watch in the process. good luck
Thanks gif this Video! The reason why i will bought ne Omega rubber strap
I would go with the black strap so the watch head pops more. The blue strap, though dark blue, just takes away from the pop at least in the pictures I saw. I probably need to see them both in person to confirm. A bonus for the black strap is that it would be different as I’m guessing most will have it on the blue strap. Can’t go wrong either way.
The more I think about it... I'll end up going blue. Emphasis the color
Was quoted $275 for the rubber strap and $260 for the buckle from my Omega boutique when I purchased my seaweed green Seamaster. I ordered a cheaper band on-line for less than $50. Is it as nice? No. But it saves me over $500
Received my knock-off green strap and silver buckle today. It’s an identical match to the factory strap and buckle.
Definitely get the blue
Hi Bruce, thanks for this wonderful detailed video. I really like all your uploads. They helped me clear most of my doubts!
Regarding this particular video, after I've watched it, I decided to go with the OEM Rubber straps. Been thinking about weather to get an OEM or a third party strap for my Seamaster for days and weeks and just nice this video came in.
Do take note that the rubber strap comes in 2 versions, one which is the standard size and the other is a shorter version of it for people with smaller wrist. Shorter and with additional holes. Cheers!
Forgive me... But if you're shelling out that much for the watch, why don't Omega include the rubber strap in the package?
Because they want to make a nicer profit
Bruce, production is not affected by economic downturn, it’s affected by a pandemic. Is thee some rule on RUclips that doesn’t allow you to mention COVID?
Yes that's why I don't say it on screen. Production lines stopped for certain brands
Bruce Williams crazy stuff, keep up the great work liking this particular seamaster more and more
I want a Seamaster with white dial. And I think with a white rubber strap, that will be a perfect combination to female. But Omega doesn't have such options. In this regard, aftermarket one is the only choice.
I have this on the rubber. It looks great but it's difficult to put on and off especially when it's hot out. I don't know why omega didn't put a deployable clasp on the rubber which a watch of this caliber deserves.
Folding clasp, with micro adjustability would be fire. This rubber strap is nice, but it's to hard to adjust when it gets hot outside. I don't like micro adjust systems, or tang buckles that require you remove the watch from your wrist to adjust (oyster bracelet with glide lock is guilty of this). It just leaves the possibility that you drop your watch on the concrete when you're trying to adjust it. Their bracelet allows for adjusting without removing the watch from your wrist, which is great.
They do now!
It looks nice, but I find the Cruved Prong and Stationary Keeper difficult to work with, I took it off and replaced with a $10 NATO
I have the chrome dial seamaster on the blue oem rubber strap. The blue strap looks much better than that black one in my opinion. Nice review of the strap Bruce. Thanks. Happy 4th of July! -Adam N.
Another informative video I tried the ceramic dial and strap on yesterday very comfortable
Also tried the speedy see through back it's a 44 I think. Also nice for a daily wearer.
Have a Seamaster “Great White” and the rubber strap is a pain in a$$ to install and the springbars are nearly impossible to place unless gently bent to engage the lug holes. Otherwise, worth the premium and can first handedly say the knock off straps fit horribly and do not approximate the watch head and lugs.
The rubber strap is beautiful, but too rich for my blood. I am considering an Isofrane for my SMP. I RECENTLY PUT OAN isofrane on my Planet Ocean and love it. It is thick, but feels great. If Isofrane really never suffers from dry rot, i will remain happy with my purchase. For now, I am completely happy with my SMP on the original bracelet (the way I bought it from a local AD). If you do get the OEM rubber strap, I think your watch needs the blue strap.
Isofranes are great, I've had a few over the years. Good colors too
Bruce Williams o am loving my orange Isofrane on my orange PO. I bought it used on an Omega rubberized leather strap. The dealer I bought it from thought it was a dive strap. Salt water would destroy that strap. 😱 it had a great deployment clasp. I want a strap it would fit on, but feel like the OEM Omega rubber is simply too much money. Oh....To be rich.
Nice video Bruce. You asked for viewer comments as to whether or not to go with a blue or black rubber OEM strap from Omega. Personally, I don’t think you can go wrong with whatever decision you make. Either color will look stunning with your Omega Seamaster. Let us know what you finally decide...take care...Ed
As I am not a fan of the non taper Omega bracelet, I think if i end up getting an Aqua terra i'd go with rubber
I really appreciated this video. I have the white dial SMP 300M and bought it on the bracelet. I acquired the black rubber strap afterwards and really love the watch on the black Omega strap. Your chrome dial is stunning and I think would be best on the Navy strap... I also like the Zealande straps and have one on another Omega watch, but for this one, it absolutely had to be the Omega one. Frankly, because I saw this video before I bought the strap. :-)
Nice piece. Do you find yourself using the strap over the bracelet more?
@@joshs3916 I do, it's on the strap right now.

Great review of the OEM rubber strap. I would go with the factory blue strap. Design style tech and watch integrating work so good. If you have a chance take a look at the Sinn rubber straps with clasp and you will see what I mean. All the best to you and family stay healthy an safe
I find the rubber strap a little too thin for my liking. It's high quality, but I'd prefer if it was 1mm thicker.

One of my buddies has a big birthday coming up. I’m thinking about a chrome dial SMP for him.
I, too, have a birthday coming up 😉
Go for the blue strap. The black doesn't look quite right.
If it’s your daily watch I highly recommend going with the rubber or at least an aftermarket steel bracelet because that OEM steel bracelet scratches and getting it polished with the mixed polish is SUCH a bitch. Just had to drop over $700 on a new bracelet because the OEM was so worn out and beyond fixing the blasted polish. Really poor design choice by omega on that bracelet.
Great review Bruce...I don't mind paying for a premium rubber strap - I have a Crafter Blue on my MM300, but $300 is just too much for me.
Omega definitely need to make a new bracelet. I love omega and I’d even rather have this than a sub but the oyster bracelet is so much better looking imo
SMP is not a Rolex. It would cheapen the watch to put a tapering bracelet on it. The Bracelet clasp on the Omega is brilliant, and better than Rolex's glide lock system, which requires you to completely remove the watch to adjust. I get that a lot of people would prefer their bracelet to taper, but it seems like that Omega's loyal customer base prefers the classic bracelet.
@@erikkalifornia5182 I agree. The original omega bracelet is fine the way it is. Beautiful.
