Well the issue that they have is that the state owns the rail line so if they want to do any serious maintenance, they have to go through the state first (they like to take it’s time).
Really Glad to See that they have Three Engine's and a Caboose Painted in The Blue and White Rock Scheme Can't Wait untill They start making some Good Money for the Repairs needed on the Rails l would Hate for a Derailment and Cost lots of Money for Repairs l really want this Railroad to make it BIG!!!
And in the works is former CN C40-8 2127 is being prepped for new paint. Also operations will soon begin on the former Gulf & Ship Island Railroad in Gulfport.
So Frank, about Nick Hart/Nictrain35. Was he locked out of his channel after having trespassed on railroad property and the court caught on to it? Is this permanent or until further notice?
LMFAO! Glorified Heritage units. Named after a city they don't serve, in a state the original rock island never served running on rails the original never ran on serving industries the original never served. So the guy buys the rights to CRI&P... i get it... but for Jesus Christ's sake he could at least create his own identity and leave history where it belongs... he could have created a new modern scheme for the 21 century that encompasses the past but shows the way of the future, instead he's stuck in the past. The old saying goes "he who embraces the past embraces skeletons"
If you ever got nothing good to say don't say it at all or if you do your history on the way they done the Rock Island man can't we think of something positive
the goal from what I gather is that they are starting off right when the company went I under in 1980. So that is why you see the old paint schemes. It is also In order to keep the copyrights to the paint schemes (they were going to paint the c42-9 in blue and white but to keep a copyright on the red and yellow paint scheme they were required to paint a locomotive in said paint scheme).
can't get better than the old Bankruptcy Blue, a true classic to the Rock Island
Come on now it is The Rock Island LOL😄 hey just so happens it's always been my favorite Railroad then Burlington Northern
No I'd have to say Frisco second Burlington Northern third Rock Island will always be first that's here with us now praise God
The condition of the rail and the amazing paint jobs on these engines dont match

59:00 Rock Island in the blue paint scheme on rough rails is fitting for what the RI was going through financially in the 70’s.
Thanks for documenting this day on the Rock Island
those rails seen better days like when they where brand new mant many moons ago, butt sharp units

I would consider the caboose they painted to be more on the lines of a “Waycar” as it doesn’t have a cupola or the bay windows of a caboose.
They have a 4th unit. A U-Boat in the red and yellow paint scheme
Great filming sound on headset is wonderful!!
Some of that trackage reminds me of the old Rock in Davenport
Long live (The Rock) !!!
what are there customers? have any new one's come on the line?
Isn’t a short line now instead of a class 1
27:54 *phone vibrating*

Thank you for documenting this day on the Rock Island in Mississippi and for sharing it with us!
I sure do miss the late 70s.
God damn those units look sharp.
Wonder why they took the horn off
It's because it's and original Rock island rs5t, people love to get a hold of these train horns, especially rs5t's.
