I tried do do this masterpiece of classic music as near to the original as possible, so sorry for the drum kits, the improper ending end the note which is in the wrong octave due to the limited minecraft note spectrum (you will spot it, will you?) ...

Several years later, and RUclips decides to bring this work of art to everyone's recommendations.
I can only imagine how different working with this would have been years ago, when Minecraft had so many limitations. This is really amazing to see.
(also, i really like how the resolution is so low, as weird as that sounds. it adds up to the nostalgic feeling)
This is actually much more impressive than most noteblock covers because whereas other ones are in a string, and each block plays once, never to be played again, this uses each block multiple times.
Top notch song, I love the ending where the moon starts to come up as the song finishes. whether it was planned or not it made it the perfect end to a perfect rendition.

Because you can start the Thing only once, and it's a bit complicate to reset it.
But I will try to make a reusable map out of it.

beezlibob94 There's a clock in the background, which starts the melody 3 times ... but then it doesn't stop, and you have to reset the thing by going into underground ^^

What I really appreciate is how you laid the blocks out and how you could see how the "canon" name fits, that there is a pattern to the notes.
The owners of minecraft should make this very noteblock version of this music a music dish in vinilla minecraft.

Great job. The most I can do with note blocks is make a bunch, tune them randomly, and then jump around hitting them along to music.

There's a timer and counter logic to inject the signal 3 times into the machine, but after that it's just a long long line of repeaters.
This was the second time I had ever heard of minecraft and was what convinced me to ask my parents to buy it for me

D is really the lowest note, I would know because I've already learned the song on piano. It goes D3 A2 B2 F#2 G2 D1 G2 A2. F# is the second lowest note in Canon. Btw, nice video. I really liked how you made the bass line look, just like it's on a staff.

my sister and i had a recital of piano and she played canon in d and then with my hands and fingers at school i kept on timing sixteenth notes so one hand would be tapping sixteen each whole note and my other hand would count 1 2 3 4 for the whole note

I did this once for 3 phones in one office, which started to ring one after another when nobody was there (besides me). I taught them to play the Pachelbel, it was so harmonic suddenly ... ;)
Dogman Imagine a startup paper factory, everybody busy getting things started, but no one at the sales office - besides me, trying to code their business software.
Nobody did expect costumers (and other poeple) to call at this point, but they did. And after some time that became really annoying, because I mustn't answer the phone calls, insistent calls, they didn't give up after 20 rings or so. After 8 rings the second phone starts, and so on ..
There was only one way to make this situation bearable and get my convergence back in time ... ;)

For real, the composition of pachelbel is simply amazing and my aim was to show this pure amazingness within the boundaries of the given game. In staccatto ... *urgs* (therefore i needed to add the snare drums - a 1/4-note is 1.6 seconds long!)
(Btw. it's snow blocks. I like the behaviour of the snow-texture in interaction with light and shadow - did someone even mention that?)
My first thought.... man this person wasted a lot of his life in this... (does he has too much free time???) but my second thought xD this is amazing and really nice done, also to create this huge project..... wow nice work

There is a set of 3 independent drum kits in the underground, which was neccessary, becouse you can hear the sound only til ca. 40 Blocks distance.
The timer, counter and the "cello", because they are in the subsurface and there's plenty of room at the bottom

@JXPLennox actually, they do own it. and the supreme court ruled a few days ago that classical music is no longer in the public domain by default.
F# is the lowest note noteblocks can play, and F# is also the lowest note in the Kanon, but it isn't the root of the scale, which is D. I doublechecked it with my tuning fork. ;)
