The irony-- hearing this glorious music as it was meant to be played on original Baroque instruments... yet watching on a smartphone. How lucky we are. Not many were lucky enough to see or hear this music when it was composed. We are SO lucky and blessed to hear all the stages of instrumental music throughout the centuries. YES! This is what Canon in D should be!! It's FAST, not slow. People play this wonderful song at weddings and drag it out soooooo long. It's supposed to be peppy! It's a baroque dance, ffs lol! It was never supposed to be slow, and this group has NAILED it. They sound amazing, and I love the little embellishments here and there. Shows a great depth of understanding of the baroque style. This is just the most gorgeous thing in existence. Every 3-6 months, I’m hit with a spontaneous desire to listen to this recording. Every time I listen, it just gets more and more powerful than the last. I think it’s too bad that this has become a “wedding song,” to the point where it would feel out of place in any other setting.

I am getting married on 1st September 2018 in Our Ladye Star of the Sea Church, Greenwich and this is also the music that I will be walking down the aisle too. My original choice date of 8th September was fully booked but 1st is good too as my late future mother in law's birthday is on the 1st. All the best to both of us on our forthcoming wedding day.
