While Air on a G string is a beautiful piece, this version is nice but has some problems. This might be the result of listening through a computer (even with good speakers), but the balance is off with the bass too loud and the violins being flattened out. Also, the tempo, which is supposed to be graceful, sometimes slows to the point you wonder if the players are tired of the piece.
Lovely, but like Schubert’s “Ave Maria” which is sung at weddings, funerals, anniversaries, maybe even bar mitzvahs, the Canon has become so familiar it is tiresome.
