    One question here. Why not just get a body in white shipped from Subaru? That is essentially all that is left of the original car that is used in the rally car. On top of which they further remove sections from that before adding the roll cage and reinforced A and C pillar suspension mounting points. Subaru would routinely pull a body in white off the line for destructive testing to verify spot weld quality. So to get one that is not destroyed would be so easy. Unless there is a rule that says the car must be created from a full production vehicle. And if that rule exists that makes no sense.

      rally cars are registered, street legal and plated. To register a car for the road in the USA you need a VIN. Body in white would not have a VIN.

    Absolutely love coming on and seeing a new episode or really any content! Also, couldn’t help but laugh while watching this video and truly understanding why Travis is overly apologetic when he puts one these on its roof. I get it, I would feel the same now having watched this !😂

      @@ryanhoward2606 GR corolla is like a family car with a racing performance, not for rally racing.. I'd prefer to drive a WRX or impreza because its way cheaper..

      It's the tried and true EJ platform used in previous chassis 🙌

    Why doesn't Subaru just send them the chassis? Why do they have to strip a full car first?

      I don't remember the specifics, but I believe it has to be a road legal car with a vin and license plate, and they for some reason can't put a vin number on a shell so they have to strip a fully built one

      one of the formula drift team said it's much easier for the manufacturer to just send a full car because all chassis are accounted for being built, it's much more of a production and logistic hassle to build a chassis then pull it off the line

      @@gwot I just think its funny because i know a lot of people including myself hate the look of the black cladding, and some defend the design saying it’s there for the rally look, but then the rally team completely removes them lol

      @@jdjunco3271 I knew exactly why you mentioned it, but it's for the masses, for you to take it soft rally or soft offroad and not completely mess up your fenders. So the design does have its purpose, not every rally team has the budget to completely re-mold custom fenders
