I think they realised (or hope they did) every night of the Brilliant Tour when they walked onto the stahe of a packed auditoreum night after night. Their music was innovative, inspired and unique in the 80's and it has remained timeless as it is just as fresh today and far, far better than most of the music of the past two decades. 🎼🎹🎸🎤🎻🎛🖥
Midge needs to be interviewed a lot more as he has such a balanced and informed view of so many important milestones in the music industry. I thought he handled this interview perfectly. Plus brilliant production, questions and delivery from the guys at Electronic Cafe. Just awesome! 👏

Without question, Ultravox has always been my No 1. As a synth player, they were my inspiration. We just got back with the band 38 years later. I was at a music event in a hotel in London, Midge was going to turn up, after many hours, and disappointed I went to the Bar Next to the Hammersmith Venue, just under the Bridge, the plan lord informed me Midge had been at the bar all day lol Mark, you must have been there too I was a few years older, such a memory

I have shook his hand and not just that, I fist bumped him too... but to add to that, the next artist I would shake hands with and also fist bump, would be Nik Kershaw on 2nd October a few days ago lol
A very talented and inspirational person. Still looking good, sounding great and as sharp as ever. The fact that he was trusted to produce the band aid single says it all. Whatever vocal chain he used, (u87 but thereafter who knows) worked for every singer that day.

I found out about Ultravox because I got a Vienna LO from a Salvation Army back around 2002. I did hear Dancing with Tears in my Eyes on the radio though but didn't know who did it. Also one of the first cassettes I ever had was Visage.
Excellent interview guys with Cambuslangs finest. Maybe next time you get to interview Midge you could throw in some watchers questions as there must be loads of them out there.
What an amazing video. Nobody beats Ultravox for me, and Midge has been a massive part of my adult life. I can't wait to see if the instrumental album he mentioned is released.
As a BIG Ultravox Fan,i had to watch this!. 😁 As a Scot,i`ll write this comment in Scottish.😜 What a crackin Lad Midge is.A true Scot, very doon tae earth and very easy goin!. 😊
I have loved Ultravox and Midge Ure since I can remember........... Don't remember actual dates (late 79 or during 80) but while I was still living in Scotland I was involved in a car crash and had the tickets for their concert in Edinburgh in the glove compartment........... I made sure to retrieve the tickets before the ambulance took me to the hospital................ I got away with a few stitches but the car was a write-off............. good thing I took the tickets :) I have lived in Germany since October 1990............ with Covid and everything the last couple of years some concerts I'd bought tickets for were postponed/cancelled............... Midge's concert in Aschaffenburg last October wasn't......... I took my (then) 24 year-old daughter (she's grown up listening to 80s music and Ultravox specially) and she ❤'d it - as did I................... He sounds exactly like the "Vienna" days.............. and the whole place was rocking :) If he comes back I'll definitely go see him again (and I think my daughter would go with me :) )
Fascinating interview..1984 was my first live UV concert” Set Movements tour” MO2W was the opening number.I used to have the program & cassette interview w “ Rivets”..Great era to be a 21 year old..Im 60 this year 😂!!
Recently saw Mr Ure live at Leeds, i was surprised at how much his act affected the audience compared to the others, his talent and legacy made people sit up and take notice

I saw videos of bassist Nick Begs supporting Howard Jones previously. What a line-up if Midge joined those two - and a great drummer from back in the day too.
Watched him perform a live gig at Truro Theatre last week. Absolutely brilliant. Great vioce, Great singer, Great keyboard player and guitarist. They dont make em like this anymore!!
Maybe it's too late now, but Daryl Hall used to do a guest thing where he'd invite people up to his house for the day to video a session of songs, which often had incredible new life breathed into them. It would have been nice to see Midge join Daryl. AND, I never understood why he didn't duet with Annie Lennox on something: those two voices together would have been amazing.
Awww this is fabulous in every way!! Love love Midge Ure!! Somehow just discovered your channel... about time! Well, I actually put together a playlist of electronic 80s music/artists that French DJs played in discothèques near Lyon where we had many many Italian immigrants so the music was a bit catered to them, so among all the "Italo disco" playlists out there mine is quite different because the Lyon area was not "all of Europe" so I'd suggest you check it, you can find it on my channel under "80sEuroDiscotheque+".

@@electroniccafemusic your welcome, great channel. I had an idea, imagine if you will: midge & Toyah release their version of “ Dancing In The Streets “, a homage to Bowie etc Wow that would be a sure no.1
It was a new era and decade. Astradyne announced that, and the fusion of synths, thrashing guitars, and new romance with classical vibes on the following tracks, grabbed Astradyne's baton and ran.......
Midge war und ist einer der besten britischen innovative musicians ever, listening since1979 als ich 18 war, started with sleepwalk.. Great to have hin alive and kicking.. Just one thing.. Sound Was Bad, Kind of echoeing when he speaks.. for me as a GER much More harder to understand

I found out about Ultravox because I got a Vienna LO from a Salvation Army back around 2002. I did hear Dancing with Tears in my Eyes on the radio though but didn't know who did it. Also one of the first cassettes I ever had was Visage.
Great comments. Thanks for your sharing + watching / supporting Electronic Cafe. MW

He sounds exactly like the "Vienna" days.............. and the whole place was rocking :) If he comes back I'll definitely go see him again (and I think my daughter would go with me :) )
Fantastic comments. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW

thanks for watching the Electronic Cafe- Andy!
I saw videos of bassist Nick Begs supporting Howard Jones previously. What a line-up if Midge joined those two - and a great drummer from back in the day too.
Yes, great stuff, saw Nick Beggs with HJ a few weeks back. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Midge was the stand out vocalist at Live Aid
The Live Aid Ultravox set was awesome. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Watched him perform a live gig at Truro Theatre last week.
Absolutely brilliant. Great vioce, Great singer, Great keyboard player and guitarist.
They dont make em like this anymore!!
I was at that show, absolutetly loved it, brilliant performance from Midge and the band.
@@michaelgreen2283 Yeah I really liked the band's own performance too before midge came on. That singer has a really great voice.
100%. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
I saw Midge and Howard years ago at Canada's Wonderland! I wonder if Midge remembers??
I'm sure he does :-)
Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
I’ve seen some of those Daryl Hall things. Great comments. Thanks for sharing and for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Midge Ure One Of The Greatest Voices Ever , Shame That Ultravox Ended Early....
Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
thank you for the upload, can you kindly try and fix that delay effect on midge's voice?
Midge dialled in from Portugal and wifi connection was sporadic. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Thanks for kind words and glad you found us. Subscribe to our Facebook group and you will see all the announcements. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW

Haha. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Midge is the antithesis of Bob Geldoff .....he's nice.
He's such a great bloke. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Astradyne was a strange opener since it set a space journey vibe to the album wich the rest of the songs never touch on again.
Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe.MW
It was a new era and decade. Astradyne announced that, and the fusion of synths, thrashing guitars, and new romance with classical vibes on the following tracks, grabbed Astradyne's baton and ran.......
Can you get Roger Taylor talking above Fun in Space
Thanks for the heads up, that’s new to me. Thanks for sharing and for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
I prefer Ultravox with him and for John Foxx I like him more on solo
Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
