Paul recently married the woman Laura stole in the prize task. Laura went to the wedding and captioned her Instagram post from it with "Gave Paul his girl back."
I think Laura's stolen thing prize task is one of the very best prize task prizes ever of any TM iteration. Equal placing to Rhod Gilbert's video of Greg sleeping. Inspired.
Regarding Laura's prize task: She was originally going to take Matt's baby mama and Urzila's cat, but the former couldn't arrange it/wasn't entirely comfortable (IIRC), and the latter briefly went missing dhring the time period this took place and broke Urzila to the point of making a public appeal for its safe return (which did occur!), so Laura ended up cutting it slightly short.
that's good to hear that her cat returned, and totally makes sense if someone isn't comfortable to be on the task. That said, I feel like the "I respect you too much" for Ursula just plays perfectly
@CM28277 This particular anecdote came from the post-season wrap livestream that the seven of them did independently on Guy's RUclips channel minutes after the final episode aired. It was called "Five Friends + Friends Watch Party", and it's still available (obviously, spoilers for the whole season.)
Urzila telling Paul they are gonna box and/or wrestle and she’s gonna crush that followed by the most intense stare down and chucking oats at him 😂 My favorite Urzila clip, the whole exchange is perfection!
especially because paul could just challenge her to jumping or running or walking up stairs or whatever but he knows better and just pretends he's threatened.
At first i was so put off by Jeremy's scoring but then i realized it actually works so well to remind us that he is "for all intents and purposes" a Taskmaster and if he wants to give 1point he will do it. Paired with him being nice to Paul it keeps us on our toes and changes things enough to not be bad copycat with original.
Yeah I really like that they let Jeremy and Paul find their own vibe, I don't think it'd work to jam every Taskmaster and Assistant into the Greg and Alex box
Taskmasters should be confident, possibly pompous, maybe mercurial. Assistants must be odd , slightly off kilter , and subservient but also just a little secret spite , fun spite but spite nonetheless.
I was JUST thinking about this after watching the champion of champions, watching greg and alex while im binging the new nz episodes really made me realize the differences in their personalities and dynamic. I’ve noticed Greg is very literal and stern in his decisions where Jeremy gives points for the vision he sees if that makes sense. Like when i am watching greg sometimes i think he’s being “too stern” while with Jeremy I think the opposite sometimes. I guess it’s like that with every first episode of a taskmaster season, at first you don’t know the contestants personalities and styles of comedy then by the end i always go “classic ___”. It seems like Jeremy and Paul are a little more laid back from what I have seen. At first i didn’t like it because i was so used to greg and alex, but now I know and appreciate their personalities. Also being so invested in the taskmaster lore… im clearly very chronically online. And thank you taskmaster for fuelling that
There's nothing wrong at all with the Jeremy and Paul dynamic but Jeremy's scoring is just utter nonsense. Sometimes Greg makes unpopular decisions but he at least explains it, even when he admits he's biased for whatever reason. The prize tasks and creative tasks are the worst bits of TMNZ from the competitive POV because you might as well pull the contestants' names out of a hat in a random order and that'll be the points.
Wow. He posted the video of the weightlifting lift that ended his hopeful Olympic career while narrating what happened. He was doing a clean and jerk of 182 kgs... It's amazing he can still walk!
Love how Paul is still helpful and wholesome and encouraging- not like Alex whose been beaten down by the series for long enough to see himself become the villain.
I imagine that he will stay that way, Alex seems to delight in being a little bit of a dick in a way that Paul doesn't. Alex is great, but I love Paul.
@@iambicpentakill971 Alex has been a little bit of a shit since season 1 whereas Paul is such a sad little wet cat that you can't help but feel sorry for them. Gives both shows a totally different vibe, I love them both in different ways

To me Alex has always played the character of the executive assistant who is almost robotic in their devotion to doing exactly what the boss would do. Canonically to the show, Alex feels like an extension of Greg, which is one of the reasons Greg can say horrible things to him and not come off sounding like a huge dick. Paul on the other hand is a lot more like a brand new intern, just following orders. Even though I know he's actually much more involved with the actual making of the show than Jeremy is, in the world where the Taskmaster has sat at the typewriter and assigned these tasks, I see Paul as someone who's just sort of excited to be there and afraid of messing up. I absolutely adore Paul, but I also love Alex. They're great for different reasons and they shape the shows in completely different ways.

Amazonian River Otters are terrifyingly powerful. They're called "River wolves" sometimes, because they hunt in packs, use team work, are frighteningly intelligent, and are huge with sharp teeth and claws and strong jaws. If they're not in a pack, they have less of an advantage, but would probably be on par with the pitbull and could definitely beat a red panda. For those coming and watching after me, hammer and tongs means to give your all in something. Its apparently inspired by blacksmiths using tongs to hold metal when they would hammer it to shape it

Matt could have salvaged his strongest animal, otter debacle by claiming he specifically meant the South American giant river otter. Not even black panthers will mess with them.
I’d completely forgotten about this Christmas song task. Now Guy’s comment that “I can’t wait to hear his Christmas song” in the infamous episode 6 task makes a lot more sense.
I think it makes for the best, most enjoyable to watch mix, actually - someone who takes it seriously, someone who takes it too seriously, someone who does not care but does care about making it funny. Perfect.
I've only seen the NZ series but I already feel like there's a bit of a gendered dynamic. Like, women are more likely to have personas who try, while men are more likely to... not try. Not saying that's bad, just interesting.
I appreciate that they don't seem to be trying to copy the "dynamic" that Greg Davies and Alex Horne have on their show. Jeremy Wells and Paul Williams have their own dynamic where Jeremy is strict but not mean to Paul. It kinda, for me, gives off a Jeremy "Proud Dad" Wells vibe with a Paul "Awkward Son" Williams vibe.
I really like how the dynamic between Jeremy and Paul is completely different to the dynamic between Greg and Alex. It's great that each show does their own thing. Also, Laura deserved extra points for stealing all the hearts she did. Great job!
Now THIS is how they should have done the 'item in briefcase' live task in the UK series, by having the others as well as the winner get points, and best of all, not dictating the entire Champion of Champions special
Anyone who knows anything about otters, knows they are adorable on the outside and horrifying on the inside. They regularly win fights with jaguars and caiman, are way bigger than expected, and have a genuinely terrifying bite strength. They are also one of the few animals that kill for fun. You do not want to mess with an otter.
Matt Heath's song surprises me I guess because of the reference to winter. Isn't New Zealand in the southern hemisphere? series 1 and 2 really are the best... ive just done watch till series 4... the chaos that happened on the 1 and 2 are just muah
Thank you for these uploads- from canada ❤
That was the greatest prize task ever omg
4:03. Because you'll want to watch it again.
david seemed like he had more facts... but I'd also beleive he had run out
I mean, if his second was that they're NOT venomous he might have been bluffing lol A beautifully presented bluff, though
Oohw god yes! Yesterday the coc and now this ❤❤❤ we are spoiled
Best episode of the series so far!
I feel like I’m missing something about the chocolate fish task. Why did no one just... walk up to the empty bowl and chuck in a chocolate fish from up close?
It wouldn't really be "shooting", I guess? 🤷♂️
@@BlueManIan I thought that too but surely you could move the fish bowl closer at least. This is not a Lolly Adefope situation, is it. 😉
I also thought someone would just rattle off animal species and then argue about it in the studio
i still can't figure out why they have a cesspool behind their house - with a dock 😂
Maybe the dock was built before it became a cesspool?
I had to watch Guy's xmas carol a second time through.
Oh! Everything makes so much sense now; Matt is stuck in the 90’s 😂😂😂
I was like “why did Laura say summer?” And then I remembered it’s summer down there in December lol
They only “think” it’s a laminator- The king of stationary! 😢
Depends on the Pit bull, one of those giants of Marlons at Dark Dynasty. One of his could take a jaguar.
Laura’s prize task here is my favourite from any episode of any version.
7:31
I honestly heard “shit” and it took a second to realise he said shed.
And yes, I am aware that there once was a contestant on Taskmaster UK who was made fun of for this exact same pronunciation!
Shid! 🐠🐟🐡🦈
I've never heard an exercise ball (which is what we call it in Switzerland AND the rest of the continent, very sure also the americas) be called a Swiss ball... Ever... But I haven't been to NZ, so I guess I learned something. 😂
As someone from the us, I actually have heard it called a swiss ball a lot, but I think most people nowadays call it an exercise ball. (At least where I live) 🤷♀️
wait until you encounter the Swiss Roll!
As an American, I have only heard it be called a "Yoga ball" or an "exercise ball" ( however, I'm from New Jersey and currently live in California... So maybe in other parts of the USA it is called something else)
....you can NOT insult red pandas like that! Heathen! They're powerfully adorable!
"This is Guy Montgomery and Paul Williams with the Fist of Fucks" Wha-
Paul lost his girl and his Tiddy Bear in the same Prize Round, ay.
