Axial could build the rig we want but then we wouldn't buy it because it would cost too much. We buy rigs and spend money on upgrades because it is easier to swallow the cost one piece at a time. Not to mention we all want to customize our rigs. If they did a fully upgraded rig people would find fault with this part or that.
Hello, I had a 1957 International Harvester truck when I live back in Montana, that thing was unbelievable certified the Dodge Power Wagon I had mentioned to axial that they should come out with a 1940s style Power Wagon for their line. Looks like they listened I enjoyed your honest video!
I totally agree, FMS and its subsidiaries have been eating axials lunch since the fcx 24 came out. I still love the scx 24's but I feel like they need a total rework to the platform now.
The SCX24 is a great entry level rig. Axial needs to expand their 1/24 line. They have more than 1 tenth scale model. Lets see some higher level rigs. How about a Capra? Wraith?
I got one because i liked the way it looked. Tires were great, i actually moved them to my gladiator and put the mudslingers from the gladiator on my AX. Ive got some RC4wd goodyears on this now and it looks good. Also added my old moforc portals to it and ive got the micro komodo kit on the way from furitek. A lot of people touched on this in the comments. They SCX24s are fun to play with but are also good tinker toys, and money pits lol.
My stock shocks leaked bad, ended up with the injora 39mm shocks. Put the mofo metal axles, brass steering links, brass diff covers, mofo wheels, with a set of mickey Thompson baja pro x tires, ccXrc baby Goliath moter with a V2 ESC.Reefs 99 servo. Now its a good truck. 😂
I just got mine the other day. Threw it on. LCG chassis, new wheels and tires, pulled off the bed and did a little custom weathering. Maybe you saw mine on Facebook. Great little truck, same as usual though.
I am enjoying mine. Added some low weight and widened it and its pretty good. I just heard about the new fms fcx10 trx4 knockoff. Fms is doing a great job of listening and giving us what we want.
Not gonna lie,i bought one because i liked the way it looked. Ive drove it around and you can definitely tell this was made to be more of a scale rig/tow rig rather than a hardcore crawler. That being said ive been enjoying it for what it is and definitely have some scale mods in mind for it.
I’m right there with you.Just not excited about axials scx24’s anymore.I do know with some add-ons they are really good, but I feel they need to step up to 1/18 new platform that you don’t have to sink $150 into it.Fms seems to be listening to the community and trying to give us the majority what they want and keep the price low.
I got into the mini crawlers with the TRX4M, and I've honestly never seen the appeal with SCX24s unless you're planning to mod the snot out of them. For a stock or near stock truck, there's so many options out there with better out of the box performance and features
Good review, reinforced everything i was already thinking. Good tires cool shocks and nice body. Body would look awesome painted like a 4 door Betty. They should have gone up to a 50 motor IMHO especially with the trailer
I'm not a fan of the "Power Wagon" style, but this one I don't mind, actually. I think some good rust painted details and a nice, worn wood bed would look cool. Or a fabric tent bed cover with the old style round bar ribs.
I agree 100%. The way fms has listened to the community and made changes to their rigs it’s hard to buy a scx24. Fms is honestly killing it now. And the aftermarket for the fms shot up quickly.
I agree with you Matt, they need to do something more then just a new body and ESC. they started the craze and are just not keeping up with the others. they are priced ok but nothing big and new for them.
Yeah at first I really liked that new power wagon, but I got the LC 80 instead and I love it. I did get that trailer and it fits my LC 80 perfect Yep I’m here watching
Good looking rig ! Thank you for this video we were all waiting for. For (only) one year i'm interested in small crawlers, i still didn't buy any RTR from Axial. They make the best chassis, the best suspensions, but they provide bad ESC and toyish looked transmitter...😢 This new SXC24 also missed my heart, for the same reason. FMS won again and i got the new FCX18 instead.🙄
I have my first Scx24 on 😅the way from Singapore to India and it’s funny how I’m watching your review with the fms fcx24 k5 on my table just like you e got one on yours!
I still love the scx24 platform for from scratch custom builds the best, Im a worm gear fan & i love all the parts that are available for scx24s, these days I wouldn't buy an rtr scx24 its much better to custom build it to your own spec. Ive done a custom build on the trx4m platform as well and its amazing and now has alot of parts available, the trx4m or fms rigs i would still buy as an rtr because they are both so good right out of the box
My first crawler bought recently was a Traxxas trx4m and my second was an Axial 124 jeep ...i was disappointed with the Axial so Ile be looking at more 1/18 scale stuff .thanks for sharing, Greetings from Northern Europe...Harry
As always appreciate what you share, I wouldn’t trade my LC 80 for it. I do like the trailer but yes it does kind of look Toy-ish but it looks good with the rig on it. Catch you on the next one until then peace and chicken grease 😁👍👍😎
The body looks good and the tires are a solid choice. I feel like the V2 electronics were decent for an RTR, but this spektrum unit is a backwards step. Why make the ESC worse? And why not just throw a larger 050 size motor in there? Most companies improve their products slowly over time, I agree Axial needs to do more to stay in the game!
Welcome to the world of Axial and Traxxas. They are always stuck on repeat. I wish Arrma would make a crawler. I switched to the Traction Hobbies platform because I was so tired of the same old releases with just body changes. Traxxas TRX4 and Axial SCX10 are notorious for that.
You know I got started with Matt's First videos like that's how I found this was by Matt you know to fmrc and I got to say hey like I just finished you rock chassis by acres and that thing's insane right but there are stock trucks coming out that are awesome and I do believe that's right they need to do more I didn't buy it I looked at it a little bit but then I looked at that Chevy Blazer and matching it that thing is super super clean personally myself I like to buy the frame rails and then build it from the ground up I don't like buying them out of the box being when you buy the frame rails more than likely you're going to buy them from the mom-and-pop shop I guess that's what kind of keeps me going that way cuz I want to see the little guy make it in this industry
I picked this up yesterday , I gotta to agree with you , they need to step up to the plate with the likes of FMS , The Power Wagon although the Body and tires are nice ... the truck is just not very exciting
Totally agree about the trailer . . . disappointing for me! I love my metal Injora trailer & it being wider & the same cost. I have no interest in the car either, nothing new, but loving my FMS K5! Thanks for your honesty in your reviews!
Glad you’re enjoying the K5! I just speak how I feel on these things. Sometimes it gets me in trouble but oh well. Rather stay true with it. I really appreciate the comment
I am excited about scx24 releases...just not excited about buying them. Just like you said, it looks really good but will need a lot of changes to make it perform. I really wish Axial would either charge just a little more for the SCX24 so they can install a better motor and ESC similar to the FMS 1/24's & 1/18's OR put out an SCX24 kit so we can choose what to put in it. The Power Wagon does look really good though! ...even if it is yet another Power Wagon... 😋 With its side-hilling, it really reminds me of Rusty the narcoleptic wiener dog (check out the videos); one minute it is going along having fun, then suddenly it is on its side all passed out!

I have the Traxxas and the fcx but still prefer the axial. Especially the fully built ones the others just seem too wannabe for me I enjoy the "play" aspect
I really like the looks of the SCX24 Power Wagon, but am being pulled to the performance and features of the FCX18 LC80 or Furitek Fury Wagon FX118. What is your thoughts between the three? (leaving out the emotion that this is just another SCX24... 🙂)
The fury wagon definitely has the performance. The lc80 has the looks. The scx24 is an improvement and has tons of aftermarket support. It’s just not on the level with the others out of the box imo
@@2fmrc Much appreciated! I went ahead and put a blue FXC18 LC80 on order. It should be here in a few weeks. Thanks for all the great, informative videos!
I fully built an axial scx24, but by looks of the fury wagon, it's half the cost of what I got invested. They need to step it up, maybe portals, or a performance comp kit. But def lost my interest.
@@tundrasr5709 ah ok. Yeah I was talking about the fury wagon. It’s basically the same wheelbase as this truck. Same length just a bit wider due to the portals

I think it's decent but if you have a bunch of scx24 then yea this isn't really all that new. I find myself trying to convince myself to like it lol. but its decent just maybe lacking in the wow factor
there seems to be some lull in what's coming out in this last quarter of the year. I'm not sure this is normal. But, I'm not seeing innovation. The first one I experienced was the 2-speed fms. things like f.o.c. in electronics. but what other innovation to make the hobby exciting. haven't seen interesting new aftermarket parts neither. Really disappointing given the potential Needs: 050motor Servo that's not trash V2 esc from gladiator A servo tray that doesn't need cutting up or replacing to accommodate a decent 12g servo A high gear would help keep up with the competition, literally!
Man, I think you are wrong or confused, this version of Axial is number 3. They started with version 1 (deabolt, c10, jeep) which had a receiver with an additional channel or channel number 2 which allowed the engine to be easily modified. easily install a speed control all these changes without changing the remote control, then version 2 of axial came out which has the electronics that you say is the version of the first gladiators, bronco, and the starting jeeps had electronics installed blue color or version 2 they also changed the remote control although it has a better touch than version 1 but this electronics did not allow the engine and other components to be improved like version 2 I think you talk about this version in the video you are confused I only rescue the version 2, the touch only seems to me to be the worst version from the configuration of the electronics to the remote control, it was not to my liking, now this version of the dodge which you show in the video is version 3 which is actually improved small changes that make a difference the electronics especially in its receiver it already has a channel 2 as if it were version 1 where we can easily modify the electronics, I know this video was 6 months ago but at this moment they have just renewed the gladiators and the jeep Version 3 with the electronics and the improvements already mentioned, I had traxas but they are more scale type. I am talking about the TRX 4m, they are not that high in performance. Regarding the FMS cars, it would be time to review them in 5 years or more to see how they are maintained. spare parts and their availability, I am close to getting an axial version 3 I wanted to pay $100 for the bolt or additional version 1, I love the design but with the new releases in version 3 for a little more difference I will take the car with improved electronic oil suspension, better quality control in my concept than version 2, I have a dilemma, I am undecided between the Jeep, the Gladiator or the Dodge, the latter, the same one you have in the video, brings me doubts because it limits the speed a bit. performance they say because it is a hard shell although I love the design guys what do you think which one to choose the normal jeep or the gladiator in version 3 finally I do not agree with what you say because these axial cars have already marked a history spare parts compatibility another thing the size clarifying that I have had full scale these small sizes today they are very versatile easy to carry anywhere
Yeah they’ve basically had 3 versions of esc/transmitters. IMO the v2 was the best overall. It didn’t have a ch2 input so you couldn’t really upgrade it and just use it as a receiver but it still had the best control to it. They all allow for the motor to be easily upgraded. Just can’t add an esc to the v2 and still use the receiver portion of it. They just need to scrap the entire truck imo and start over now. So much better out there at this point. Maybe they could keep the transmission but that’s about it lol
Neither is the scx24 if you wanna get down to it. It’s a 1/20 at best. Most comps allow fcx24s in the “1/24” class so I say you can compare them. Didn’t really compare them anyway. Just said axial needs to do more because the scx24 rtr is dying out quick imo. They make great builds but at this point I wouldn’t buy an rtr at all.
Lol you still can't compare a one scale to a different scale and be like ones better to the other and the trailer feels cheap because it's 40 dollars lol. If you thought you were getting something amazing for 40 bucks is crazy seeing things that are quality in this hobby is very expensive. Idk I don't do videos I just do rc's for a living and they aren't in the same scale class. That's like comparing a UTB18 Capra to a 1/18 Tarantula 😂
@@DirtJockeys no it’s not. Almost the same size. Fcx24 wheelbase measures 144mmX122mm & this truck measures 153mmX105mm. We almost always widen the scx24 to be the same as the fcx stock measurements so they are the same. Not that big of a difference in wheelbase. The fcx is wider like I stated and the body seems huge compared to these but it’s not like comparing the Capra 18 which is 1/12 to a 1/24. You must do Rc for a living as an axial employee because your thinking is just the same as theirs lol. I don’t care what the size is the scx24 has lost its appeal. I DIDN’T even compare the 2! Just said they needed to do more like the other brands have done. And the trailer I showed that I personally like better is the same price or a couple dollars less 🤷🏻♂️
So we are only supposed to do all positive reviews? Thats the reason I started this channel. Sick of the bought reviews. I’m not gonna be bought out like all these other channels and try to sell every single release. That means I don’t always love everything. What’s depressing is the amount of people who don’t wanna hear anything negative and watch those fake reviews.
i feel like the blue v2 esc was better but yeah the only thing i'd buy from axial at this point is a proper scx18 that really wants to compete with trx4m and fcx18/24

Looks cool for a shelf weight. But a pass for me.
First you can't compare a scx24 to whatever that is because it isn't a true 24 they are a stubby 1/18 scale.
Why are you reviewing something you don’t like. This was depressing 😢
Yeah the blue v2 was the best esc combo they had. Wish they’d go back to it lol
Nice! But Gott Mudd? 😜👊👍✌️🦅🦼🇺🇸
