I agree! For a long time I’ve loved their scale bodies but it was hard to pick up the trucks because no upgrades were available. Now they are really stepping up!

I think they did really well with the body! The wheelbase and proportions look just right, its a little tall but thats an easy fix! I like that FMS is catching on that most people would rather spend a touch more up front to get full bearings and steering links that actually steer the truck!
turning on and off between 100 and 120 times per second. Our eye is unable to see this flickering of light but a camera lens can make it easy for you to see that flicker.
Man I bought 2 FCX24 K5s, one for me and one for my son after watching your vids, and I absolutely love them. I do believe I’ll be grabbing a couple of these as well. The K5s were our first hobby grade RCs, and I am now an addict.
Awesome video brother this is a badass release the only negative thing that I see about it is plastic gears I don't like plastic gears when you put your stuff in holes and bad places like I do you're going to break them
Happy with the release! Some of the claims of "revolutionary experience" is a little over the top haha, but the motor/trans and axles really make more sense in an 18 than a claimed 24 anyways. Next step-more metal gears!
Awesome video! Lights look like there flashing because they are operating at a low frequency and camera can pick it up. Very good comparison to others box stock! I want one of these now! Pretty stinkin sweet!
The light flickering in a video becomes more obvious and apparent because the frames per second (FPS) recording of the camera is not aligned with the frequency of electricity. This is known as the 'strobe effect. you can try to reduce the flickering look by choosing a slower FPS if this bothers you.. but awesome stuff coming from FMS..
The body does absolutely nothing for me, but the guts of this thing - - - Dam! I want it! I wonder how soon there going to apply this kind of chassis to there other bodies. Like the Glacier. I snatch it up in a heart beat if they did this to a Glacier! Heck, I'm tempted to not wait for them - I'm thinking of getting this & do a complete gut swap with my Glacier. With the Glacier's long chassis, that thing would be so amazingly capable! & look dam good doing it!
The body just isn't doing it for me but I do really like the chassis upgrades like the metal steering link and shocks. Knowing FMS they'll have some other options later.
I really like this one. The FCX really needed some wheel base. My main minis I run are a stretched and widened scx24 deadbolt with furitek and a trailing armed FCX with the rainbow titanium 2FM RC chassis and honestly I don't know which is my favorite. I think the 2 speed is key for trailing with my little guy so FCX is usually my go to. Thank you for the honesty and thought and just the fact you don't just build em you run em! I'm probably 30-40% tinkering/building and the rest is running. So I love that you run your stuff hard and expect it to perform because I can relate.
I try to get as much time as I can in with them. It’s hard when you have so many to cover but I feel like I can’t find the real issues until I run them hard and for a good bit. Really appreciate your comment and support.
Nice review! Really good looking rig right there. The reason the lights flash on camera is because the frames per second on the camera do not match the frequency or Hertz of the lights. The lights actually flash on and off either 50 or 60 times per second. Our eyes just can't see it. The camera however can pick this up.
@@2fmrcthe purpose of the flashing is to dim the LEDs for the low beam mode. Our eyes perceive it as dimmer lights. The camera can see the flashing that we can't
Was gona get the mccue k5 but i think ill go with this instead. Have a acx24 gladiator, fcx24 power wagon and cr18p rock van so this i think would be a good one to add to it 😊
That's an awesome idea. I have a killer looking jeep body from the eazyrc Arizona, one of the most worthless pos rc I've ever bought. I would buy a modern chassis 100%
Agree with the wheels sticking out too much. FMS could offer a taller wheel that would clear the hub and gain a lot of positive offset by tucking the wheels more towards the center of the truck. This would make it much more scale looking. Less side stability, but we’d have a choice 🤙
I think mine arrived handicapped with a busted, clicking pinion gear in the rear. Gentle finger pressure on a rear tire stops them while the drive shaft keeps spinning. The fronts fight the finger much harder and when they stop, the front driveshaft stops. Basically 2wd.
Yeah I think this will be much better. Like I said it sits a bit higher so maybe more tipsy starught away but a much better base underneath to start upgrading imo. Plus the 2 speed is a blast!
Lotta bang for the buck. And the cool thing is the clear glass is already available, along with a ton of other parts for the body. I have a heavily modded original and gotta say, hard not to pull the trigger on this.
Bro.... Put some "Storm" fishing tackle adhesive weights on the wheel hubs.70 pieces in the pack. Easily does four wheels... $7 weight gain... Easy and cheap fix.

cool rig and good review. Its of interest how earlier this year it was about the 24th named scale. Now, it feels like its about the 18th scale. There is a capra 18 which is huge, a hobbyplus 18th which just seems stretched like this one. so, its all relative and named to a scale that is hot in the market.
16:30 LEDs are either on or off, so dimming/low is accomplished by flushing them too quickly for your eye to see. Your camera is shooting faster shutter speed than your eyes because of the bright scene in daylight
Hey the reason it's flashing on screen is your camera's frame rate is a higher frequency then the light's on the truck on low that's why they look like there flashing or flickering that's all....
Hey Matt, great video! What connectors did they use on the battery?did they use the same speed control/ receiver? I can’t believe the speed of this this new truck!

Thanks for the great review I’ve got the Blazer & it’s impressive I’ve already added upgrades this looks like it would be a ton of fun I’m curious about the price so I’m headed to FMS site.
For performance I think the Fury Wagon. For scale definitely this. I give the slight edge to the fury because it’s brushless out of the box and the 2 speed isn’t needed at that point which saves weight etc and helps performance imo.
So it's complete with a fcx24 chassis?? Just has an 18th scale body on and the number writing on the frame fcx18 doesn't mean anything but the body right? Like underneath is all fcx24 stuff right? Or is the chassis a little differt from the fcx24?
I have the original lc80 and am looking into converting it to the fcx18. Can you confirm whether the chassis rails are the same? As long as i can fit the gearbox mount and transmission the rest should be easy
No it’s an all new chassis from the original. I’m sure you could find somewhere to mount the shift servo but the transmission would probably be the hardest part. The skid is way different.
I like the looks of everything under the hood, but the body is a meh for me. I don't care for that style at at all and would have preferred just about anything else. I hope something else comes along.
True. I feel like they are 2 totally different offerings though. That’s the main reason I didn’t compare them. The Furitek is more performance based with ok looks. This is more scale based with awesome looks but no brushless. Those two are definitely the best 1/18s out imo
Bought it, used it for 15mn. Shaft is broken. I don't know about other FMS models, but the FCX18 is garbage. At least the 0.8mm shafts holders are a shame. Bought metal one, I guess they will work, or another plastic piece will explode.

I mean I’m supposed to constantly say this link that link, that link, that link etc is an affiliate? I’m an affiliate with multiple hobby shops etc so usually the links are all affiliates. How does this compare to the Furitek RTRs? I know that they aren't scale rigs compared to this.
