I loved the heart shot on the big one…I got so excited,I pulled the old blowgun out and killed 2 Marlboro packs and 3 Mountain Dew cans….love your stuff !
I use Marlboro packs as well as targets for my bir pellet air rifle and my blow gun and my long bow. I use to use them when I was like 5 till about ten I would go and setup my parents empty Marlboro packs about a hundred yards away and use my scope on air pellet rifle and pretend I'm a sniper hitting 20 packs that far ir was fun as a kid lol I still do it just to feel like a kid again but with a much bigger airgun
I dont hunt, but it think that its really great that hunters do so much to make sure that the wild life and different animal populations stay within balence. Also all the money that they put into conservation. I also think that factory farming is cruel, I think its nice to know that you're eating an animal that had a good life and you're giving a younger animal a chance to mate and live life once the old alpha hits the dirt. and i really love tims narration, and his dark sense of humor. it really brightens up my day. "They are ferocious beasts, so I think i may club one to death" "because ford trucks are tough"
What's most impressive to me is the stealth of the blowgun. Tim was able to take multiple shots without alerting the rest of the troop and ending the hunt.

What you said about hunters supporting wildlife is 100% truth. I just got back from a South African bowhunt. The water tanks and water holes are fed by wells that have been drilled by the ranch owners, and the money for these projects came from hunters. They also feed the animals alfalfa and mulched sugar cane to sustain them during droughts. Without those improvements the animals would be almost nonexistent. Before the mid-1990's animals were considered govt property and there was an estimated 500,000 animals on private ranches. The new law changed that policy, so that if animals were on the landowner's property, they are now considered property of the landowners. The govt's new policy was "Conservations through Utilization" That incentivized land owners to improve their property to benefit animals. It was a HUGE success. Today, there are over 21 million animals on private ranches in South Africa. Anyone who says hunters aren't involved in conservation and only hurt animal populations are either misinformed or LYING.

I always find pest control considerably more satisfying than trophy hunting. I don't have any issue with trophy hunting (except for how damn expensive it is) and I know the good it does for the ecosystem, but I get a bigger kick out of removing pests.
I agree same thing with feral Hogs over here in the United States why would I pay bundles of cash to go wild boar hunting when I could just go to Georgia Florida Louisiana Texas and go and shoot as many pigs as I want year-round and I'm doing the farmers and landowners a service and also none of it's going to waste I mean I'm sure there's people out there they shoot pigs and let them just lay there but the most part it's all all the meats being donated whether it's to the homeless shelters whether it's to food banks like I'm not going to go out and pay it and ask for the money to shoot anyting why would I go and pay $500 to shoot a deer that has a huge wreck on it you can't eat the rack and usually the bigger the deer the tougher the deer meat I'd rather just wait until deer season here in New York show my to do tags and if I happen to see a Bach I'll shoot it but I live by myself two decent-sized Delaware fill my freezer and the meat more tender but if you want to go out and spend money on shooting a trophy elk and mule deer Etc bear I have no problem with that whatsoever but I do have a problem with people going out and shooting lions and elephants because that's killing off a species I know tigers are protected but lions are still being haunted and there aren't that many lions in the wild anymore we have all these prey animals like antelope and zebra deer elk moose it's pointless to go out pay a bunch of money to shoot an animal just because it's a predator like I said there's a different story coyotes a different story coyote that's a nuisance even wolves I got mixed feelings on wolves because wolves will kill your livestock but wolves aren't that high and popular population neither maybe up in Alaska I'm not exactly sure about the numbers but I know in the lower 48 wolves are a nuisance and their numbers are growing but just a few hundred years ago or maybe it was just a hundred years ago wolves were almost extinct in the lower 48 if it wasn't for the packing Yellowstone National Park but now there's wolves in Montana and Idaho and northern states so the wolves are bouncing back I have very mixed feelings about wolves I'm not really sure I guess if you have wolf tag then feel free to hunt it

A little lip pigs die if it gets too hot out because they can’t sweat. Hunt in the later fall and also when you come here I’d recommend Florida as there’s big hogs and you can hunt the invasive pythons so a double kills and great fun

Here in Texas there's so many boars the strike crops and s*** so we cut them down and cut them for population down that's going to come to a point where the monkeys whatever they're called baboons start destroying the landing you're going to have a big problem there. Who's going to be more baboons than bullets

So here are the factors i think makes his shot so deadly: He knows how to exhale properly & release all the air in his lungs at once for maximum strength The distance itself he is really close to these baboons when making the shots And the tip of these darts i would imagine are as sharp as a razor
Pretty amazing. 50 years ago my dad made me and my brother a blowgun out of a 5' long piece of copper pipe. Our darts were made from 4" pieces of bamboo tomato stakes with finishing nails for points, and tufts of yarn for fletching. We (as youngsters) could launch the darts over 100 feet. I still have that blowgun, although I haven't shot it in...decades. But it is an impressive weapon in hands as skilled as yours! I doubt I could launch a dart that far today (I'm a smoker), but I have great respect for the tool.

Friend, I would urge you to quit smoking. My father just passed away from lung cancer less than a month ago. He and I loved to hunt and fish together. He wasn't into blow guns, but he and I spent a lot of time with bows and rifles and shotguns. If for no other reason, I'd suggest you quit smoking and get your lungs healthy as healthy as they can be, and take that blow gun out as a way to honor your father and maybe have some fun nailing some varmints if you so choose. May your darts fly true.
I love that you showed the dominant baboon calmly looking around, Tim. So many people (generally the "hunters are murderers" crowd) think that animals somehow, dont die unless humans are involved, even though the reality is that their deaths are generally very graphic and traumatic. When we (hunters) take game, it is the most humane death they could ever ask for

I once went on safari when visiting some relatives in East Africa. On the second day, I got stuck in my tent for about hour because a troop of baboons wandered into the camp area. I got a beautiful shot with my camera of the calm face of a large male from 5 feet away as he sat just outside my tent window (he was almost a meter tall while sitting, gorgeous specimen).

Scary animals. Their ungodly strength, speed, jumping ability, and sheer cunning make for an unbelievably dangerous animal.

Even though those baboons are still wild they're well used to people being in the camp, but even still; if something had gone wrong I could've had to fight for my life (and still would have likely lost). Baboons are no joke in their aggression and they are a pest in a lot of areas.

I know there has been more of a push for primitive weapons season in some areas and seeing this plus the clips from the end I think it speaks volumes that with practice like with any weapon of choice you can make some clean beautiful kills with things like spears and blowguns. Plus whether a person is a hunter or not I think it's a solid argument that if you can be stealthy enough to take down large game with a spear you deserve the right to do so. I have not had the chance to hunt in some time but it is a real joy to watch your hunts. Much respect for the skill you display, hope to be in the field soon myself.
Speaking of Sneaking: I camouflaged myself well enough today at PUBG, to cause at least 2 actual Players to run past and almost step on me, without them even realizing. ...i was laying in medium long Grass, wearing just my usual clothing. (brown, green, greyish, black and with a slightly spotted pattern outfit, for as little contrast as possible.) This may kind of cringe you, but it was a funny Thing to mention anyways.

Both the Chacma baboon and the Vervet monkeys featured in this video are considered nuisance animals they are open game 24/7 - 365 with no bag limit. And it’s still not enough. Plus we have tree/monkey huggers down here that think that money spent on saving one primate is a good thing. They make videos of their group nursing these tree rats back to health with donations but they are not telling the donors that these primates are pests and will most likely be shot on sight
As a South African, watching this.. you realize how much hunting does for wild life preservation. I’ve wanted to get into hunting, with a bow and was wondering if it’s realistic wanting to hunt birds with a bow. Stumbled upon Tim and, man. What a pleasure of a guy to watch. So humble, so in tune with nature, you track our animals like we do, You know their droppings and prints as well as us, it’s truly incredible to watch. And has inspired me to slowly get into hunting, looking at getting a GSP and training her, moving out to the wilderness of eastern cape and this has seriously just given me the inspiration to move forward with my plans. It's far more effective to set up several bait piles with dynamite underneath. That way you can take out 90% or more of the troop at a time. Or do what the Americans do with wild hogs: hunt them from a helicopter using automatic weapons. There is no redeeming value to baboons where they have no predators. Kill them all.
Some people don’t understand that Tim! Totally agree that hunting is a large part of conservation, income for the region you hunt, and a spiritual experience! Good for everyone involved.

Did you not hear the guide and Tim say that those particular animals were overpopulated in that region, that those animals were decimating other species in that area? So in my opinion putting a little bit of balance back into that region is not hurting it’s helping. Not only helping all the other species, but also helping the species of animals he was hunting. Because overpopulation brings in a whole other set of problems. Also at the end of the video it was said that those animals were going to be eaten. So yes to your question, spiritual! Balance is spiritual! When I hunt being in nature is spiritual, connecting to the animals I’m hunting is spiritual!

Aside from the alpha male it's best to kill the females. Males are potential mates, whereas all females are mates. Killing females means you've eliminated a ton of future baboons as well.

He's a master of his art. I wonder how long he had to wait just for the perfect shot. And those blades must be pretty sharp, no joke. Imagine an surgical blade stuck in your body. Internal bleeding kills you slowly, you might not even feel the pain.

The only thing i disagree with when it comes to culling is the use of poisons, if you are gonna try to reduce the numbers of a particular species for justifiable reasons then do it properly by hunting it with traditional methods.
Fascinating seeing you hunt with blow darts. Brings back memories of my late uncle who served two tours in the nam. His only way to hunt was bow and arrow and his most memorable saying was that "guns are for pu55ies".
It’s insane to me how long the baboons lasted with a heart shot. Shows that even though you make a good shot you have to be careful because these are severely dangerous animals
Yeah I've heard of baboons felled with perfect heart & lungshots, getting orange sized (no pun intended) exit holes. And they still ran around and displayed full strength for a bit, those few seconds are more than enough for an angry baboon to tear your arm off and beat you to death with it.
In 1982 my family visited my father who was working in Kenya for 6 years. While there we went on 'Safari' through several game parks. The game parks had stopping places where there were sections of rivers that had deep pools with hippos and crocodiles or mainly a watering hole visited by different animals that you could view coming for a drink. Most of these areas had a guard armed with a rifle whose job was to protect any tourist who might be threatened by any particular animal at some point. We never saw any such incident take place. They were also there to protect the animals from tourists or poachers. We (myself, my wife and two daughters aged 2 and 4), along with my father and stepmother stopped at a hippo pool and I got our 4 year old on my shoulders and took a short walk into an area that had some shrubs and small trees and not on any trail but not far away from the pool as well. Very suddenly a lot of movement could be heard in the vegetation to our left and I looked quickly to see what it was, but I was unable to move out of the way because it came on so fast that I didn't really know what to do so I just stood still with my daughter on my shoulders. I was scared to death as a troop of baboons came rushing through this area with us stuck in the middle. Their strength was obvious as they didn't bother to avert their direction simply because a shrub or small tree was in their way. They smashed through them or ran over them as if there was nothing at all in their way. They were running in a way I would describe as galloping. They did not run into us and appeared to have no interest in us, let alone harming us. They were gone quickly and I was grateful that my daughter and I were left unscathed. I was grateful to the baboons and still am.
Well done, as always! It sure looks like that first big baboon was all gimped up; as he's walking away from the camera after taking the dart (around 14:14 or so) you can see that his right foot is at an odd angle, and his limp was pretty obvious from the start. Good kill, good cull.

I always find pest control considerably more satisfying than trophy hunting. I don't have any issue with trophy hunting (except for how damn expensive it is) and I know the good it does for the ecosystem, but I get a bigger kick out of removing pests.
I agree same thing with feral Hogs over here in the United States why would I pay bundles of cash to go wild boar hunting when I could just go to Georgia Florida Louisiana Texas and go and shoot as many pigs as I want year-round and I'm doing the farmers and landowners a service and also none of it's going to waste I mean I'm sure there's people out there they shoot pigs and let them just lay there but the most part it's all all the meats being donated whether it's to the homeless shelters whether it's to food banks like I'm not going to go out and pay it and ask for the money to shoot anyting why would I go and pay $500 to shoot a deer that has a huge wreck on it you can't eat the rack and usually the bigger the deer the tougher the deer meat I'd rather just wait until deer season here in New York show my to do tags and if I happen to see a Bach I'll shoot it but I live by myself two decent-sized Delaware fill my freezer and the meat more tender but if you want to go out and spend money on shooting a trophy elk and mule deer Etc bear I have no problem with that whatsoever but I do have a problem with people going out and shooting lions and elephants because that's killing off a species I know tigers are protected but lions are still being haunted and there aren't that many lions in the wild anymore we have all these prey animals like antelope and zebra deer elk moose it's pointless to go out pay a bunch of money to shoot an animal just because it's a predator like I said there's a different story coyotes a different story coyote that's a nuisance even wolves I got mixed feelings on wolves because wolves will kill your livestock but wolves aren't that high and popular population neither maybe up in Alaska I'm not exactly sure about the numbers but I know in the lower 48 wolves are a nuisance and their numbers are growing but just a few hundred years ago or maybe it was just a hundred years ago wolves were almost extinct in the lower 48 if it wasn't for the packing Yellowstone National Park but now there's wolves in Montana and Idaho and northern states so the wolves are bouncing back I have very mixed feelings about wolves I'm not really sure I guess if you have wolf tag then feel free to hunt it

A little lip pigs die if it gets too hot out because they can’t sweat. Hunt in the later fall and also when you come here I’d recommend Florida as there’s big hogs and you can hunt the invasive pythons so a double kills and great fun

Here in Texas there's so many boars the strike crops and s*** so we cut them down and cut them for population down that's going to come to a point where the monkeys whatever they're called baboons start destroying the landing you're going to have a big problem there. So here are the factors i think makes his shot so deadly:
He knows how to exhale properly & release all the air in his lungs at once for maximum strength
The distance itself he is really close to these baboons when making the shots
And the tip of these darts i would imagine are as sharp as a razor

50 years ago my dad made me and my brother a blowgun out of a 5' long piece of copper pipe. Our darts were made from 4" pieces of bamboo tomato stakes with finishing nails for points, and tufts of yarn for fletching. We (as youngsters) could launch the darts over 100 feet. I still have that blowgun, although I haven't shot it in...decades. But it is an impressive weapon in hands as skilled as yours! I doubt I could launch a dart that far today (I'm a smoker), but I have great respect for the tool.

Friend, I would urge you to quit smoking. My father just passed away from lung cancer less than a month ago. He and I loved to hunt and fish together. He wasn't into blow guns, but he and I spent a lot of time with bows and rifles and shotguns. If for no other reason, I'd suggest you quit smoking and get your lungs healthy as healthy as they can be, and take that blow gun out as a way to honor your father and maybe have some fun nailing some varmints if you so choose. May your darts fly true.
I advise stop smoking, hunting is the motivator!

I love that you showed the dominant baboon calmly looking around, Tim. So many people (generally the "hunters are murderers" crowd) think that animals somehow, dont die unless humans are involved, even though the reality is that their deaths are generally very graphic and traumatic. When we (hunters) take game, it is the most humane death they could ever ask for

I once went on safari when visiting some relatives in East Africa. On the second day, I got stuck in my tent for about hour because a troop of baboons wandered into the camp area. I got a beautiful shot with my camera of the calm face of a large male from 5 feet away as he sat just outside my tent window (he was almost a meter tall while sitting, gorgeous specimen).

Even though those baboons are still wild they're well used to people being in the camp, but even still; if something had gone wrong I could've had to fight for my life (and still would have likely lost). Baboons are no joke in their aggression and they are a pest in a lot of areas.

I know there has been more of a push for primitive weapons season in some areas and seeing this plus the clips from the end I think it speaks volumes that with practice like with any weapon of choice you can make some clean beautiful kills with things like spears and blowguns. Plus whether a person is a hunter or not I think it's a solid argument that if you can be stealthy enough to take down large game with a spear you deserve the right to do so. I have not had the chance to hunt in some time but it is a real joy to watch your hunts. Much respect for the skill you display, hope to be in the field soon myself.

I camouflaged myself well enough today at PUBG, to cause at least 2 actual Players to run past and almost step on me, without them even realizing.

Both the Chacma baboon and the Vervet monkeys featured in this video are considered nuisance animals they are open game 24/7 - 365 with no bag limit. And it’s still not enough. Plus we have tree/monkey huggers down here that think that money spent on saving one primate is a good thing. They make videos of their group nursing these tree rats back to health with donations but they are not telling the donors that these primates are pests and will most likely be shot on sight

It's far more effective to set up several bait piles with dynamite underneath. That way you can take out 90% or more of the troop at a time. Or do what the Americans do with wild hogs: hunt them from a helicopter using automatic weapons. There is no redeeming value to baboons where they have no predators. Kill them all.

Did you not hear the guide and Tim say that those particular animals were overpopulated in that region, that those animals were decimating other species in that area? So in my opinion putting a little bit of balance back into that region is not hurting it’s helping. Not only helping all the other species, but also helping the species of animals he was hunting. Because overpopulation brings in a whole other set of problems. Also at the end of the video it was said that those animals were going to be eaten. So yes to your question, spiritual! Balance is spiritual! When I hunt being in nature is spiritual, connecting to the animals I’m hunting is spiritual!

Aside from the alpha male it's best to kill the females. Males are potential mates, whereas all females are mates. Killing females means you've eliminated a ton of future baboons as well.

The only thing i disagree with when it comes to culling is the use of poisons, if you are gonna try to reduce the numbers of a particular species for justifiable reasons then do it properly by hunting it with traditional methods.

Yeah I've heard of baboons felled with perfect heart & lungshots, getting orange sized (no pun intended) exit holes.
And they still ran around and displayed full strength for a bit, those few seconds are more than enough for an angry baboon to tear your arm off and beat you to death with it.

In 1982 my family visited my father who was working in Kenya for 6 years. While there we went on 'Safari' through several game parks. The game parks had stopping places where there were sections of rivers that had deep pools with hippos and crocodiles or mainly a watering hole visited by different animals that you could view coming for a drink. Most of these areas had a guard armed with a rifle whose job was to protect any tourist who might be threatened by any particular animal at some point. We never saw any such incident take place. They were also there to protect the animals from tourists or poachers.
We (myself, my wife and two daughters aged 2 and 4), along with my father and stepmother stopped at a hippo pool and I got our 4 year old on my shoulders and took a short walk into an area that had some shrubs and small trees and not on any trail but not far away from the pool as well.
Very suddenly a lot of movement could be heard in the vegetation to our left and I looked quickly to see what it was, but I was unable to move out of the way because it came on so fast that I didn't really know what to do so I just stood still with my daughter on my shoulders. I was scared to death as a troop of baboons came rushing through this area with us stuck in the middle. Their strength was obvious as they didn't bother to avert their direction simply because a shrub or small tree was in their way. They smashed through them or ran over them as if there was nothing at all in their way. They were running in a way I would describe as galloping. They did not run into us and appeared to have no interest in us, let alone harming us.
They were gone quickly and I was grateful that my daughter and I were left unscathed.
I was grateful to the baboons and still am.
That is fucking terrifying.

It sure looks like that first big baboon was all gimped up; as he's walking away from the camera after taking the dart (around 14:14 or so) you can see that his right foot is at an odd angle, and his limp was pretty obvious from the start. Good kill, good cull.
