I have a question regarding this and the dp88. Are the settings (gain, 48v, etc) memorized without midi? If I turn the unit off and on, will I lose all the previous settings? Thanks
Very interested in this unit.. But... Has anyone recorded live drums with a Presonus 192? I'm interested to hear how this unit picks up transients and the 3d soundscape, low frequencies etc. The 'shoot out' comparison demo vs Apogee Thunderbolt / UAD Apollo interfaces does sound good, but the recorded audio features no low register instruments and no drums - just vocals and guitar - sound sources which IMHO can sound very similar on a whole host of of interfaces..
currently using rme but seriously considering buying the 192 can u tell me how this unit sounds in comparison .also could we please add midi in and outs in future that woud be the icing on the cake
Hey Rick, does the controllability of the 192 DSP through Studio One mean that I'd be also able to control all the mentioned functions in the DSP with a CS18AI?
Great review, great product. Adding processing and fx on a channel on the uc surface is just for monitoring right ? It won't affect the signal going to the daw ?
I love the idea of this, but 8 mic pres is just not enough. Is there any way to get 16 inputs at 192kHz? I'd even be willing to buy two Studio192's to get it done.
+Chris Gill Hey Chris, we hear ya. While you could add a second Studio 192, which would work great, we recommend instead adding a DP-88. It was designed specifically for guys like you who like the Studio 192 but just need more inputs. Check it out: www.presonus.com/products/DigiMax-DP88
+PreSonus Audio Electronics Finally had a chance to look at the new DP88. Correct me if I'm wrong, but after reading the manual it looks like the sample rate of the channels coming from the DP88 can only be 96kHz. I'd love to have 16 XLR inputs at 192kHz.
As a user, I would say the only real drawback with this when used with Studio One is the fact you can't make use of the on-board effects (reverb and delay) if you have enabled Qmix to allow zero latency recording / monitoring.
+valent besley YES, there would be no reason you couldn't use it live. Only thing to remember is that the computer must be connected it to it at all times. If you want something that works without a computer, you should also check out the RM16ai or RM32ai mixers: www.presonus.com/products/StudioLive-RM-Series
+Rick Naqvi Very nice! As a drum teacher that conducts an annual recital, I've been going back and forth on whether or not to get an interface or a RM16AI. I see myself using the 192 more for recording purposes (personal and for students) so I think I'm leaning more towards the 192.
+MrSkyTown 192khz for an audio recording device, is referred to a sampling rate, not an audible frequency. It means that the hardware & software are recording 192 000 samples per seconds. It's pretty much comparable to resolution on TV monitors.
I was sold my 1818 vsl with a similar software only to find after I'd started to use it after getting it set up that it was discontinued and no longer available. This was the main reason I got the unit and now it's have a unit with no control. So disappointed and I was refused a refund. As I see it you shouldn't be selling the 1818 with software no longer available. It's false advertising
+PreSonus Audio Electronics I'm just saying that I'm really looking forward to living in a networked audio world and that I feel a little swell of disappointment every time a new product comes out that doesn't have Dante or AVB.
+Hermiel We're working on it! Our StudioLive mixers are Dante-compatible: www.presonus.com/news/press_releases/StudioLive-AI-Mixers-Now-Dante-Compatible And we just introduced the AVB mix systems: www.presonus.com/news/press_releases/StudioLive-AVB-Mix-Systems
+PreSonus Audio Electronics Yeah, I saw; it looks great! I realize that within a few years networked audio will probably be a given, if not the de facto means of sigmal transport. The writing's on the wall. In my mind I'm already there and now I'm waiting for reality to catch up!

this is my favorite interface out right now, hands down.
+Stephen Adams Sweet! Thanks for using PreSonus.

switched from apogee to 192...sounds amazing... soon i am going to buy extra dp 88
Are the main outs balanced or unbalanced and how would I hook this up to an old receiver with just red and white ports
I have a question Why don't you do a session recording so we can hear it!?
Hey Rick, does the controllability of the 192 DSP through Studio One mean that I'd be also able to control all the mentioned functions in the DSP with a CS18AI?
So - with one of these AND a DP-88 I can only track at 96Khz? Is that correct?
my question is how can you route studiolive in cubase?
Great review, great product.

The studio 192 is compatible with digimax d8?

Hi Rick, can i use studio 192 as live mixing control on a show like audiobox vsl1818? Thx

+Rick Naqvi thank you
Since no longer development on vsl1818 I'm thinking of changing new device

You are one kick-ass company!
+Mad Pierrot Agreed :)
+PreSonus Audio Electronics lol!
I use 3 MOTU 1224 units linked... I'd like to see 3 of these in the same setup streaming 24 ch of audio. Maybe you can show me this @ NAMM.
+Keeping In the Pocket I would recommend the Studio 192 and a couple of DP88s!
www.presonus.com/products/DigiMax-DP88
SO THIS IS MORE FOR RECORDING LIVE INSTRUMENTS OR VOCALS. OK.
WAS HOPING FOR A AD/DC CONVERTER/ AUDIO INTERFACE.
+Jay Cairo Then you will probably love this: www.presonus.com/products/DigiMax-DP88
Rick Naqvi looks promising! so what about after render in the project/mastering stage will we see an improvement in sound?
I JUST NOTICED THIS GUY IS THE GUITAR PLAYER FROM THE BAND ON THE DEMO ( PHAT HAT BAND) ON S1 2. CRAZY!!!
No MIDI ? or am I missing something....

Is 192khz even worth useful, we can't hear 192 kHz,

I'd be tempted to buy this if it was Thunderbolt instead of usb 3.0 only

Dante / AVB or bust.

Great hardware. But the looks not so much.
