    Creative Sauce - Stumbled upon Channel via a post you made over @ GearSlutz - Thought I'd let ya know you got a new lurker and I'll definitely be around to view others. I appreciate the time you put into the series. You have restored some of my faith in my PreSonus Studio 192. PreSonus Tech Support and I are going round and round with trying to figure out the issues with mine. Most of which is related to the Sample Rate. The concern however, is the hardware issue, which is a Blinking E on my LED screen. That is where PreSonus has gone quiet.
    Definitely encourage all the views to watch the series. Cheers and Blessings!!

      Hey thanks for watching! I'll try to do a follow up now that I've used it in my workflow for a while. That sucks that you've had those issues, especially when you just wanna get on and make music right?
      I'd guess that 'E' would be a generalised error of some kind. I've read of some other people having problematic units, but for me, so far so good. I hope you and Presonus can get it up and running for you, as when it's working well, it really is a fantastic unit.

      @@CreativeSauce - The device really is sturdy and nicely built, in regards to the quality of the case. I won't open it, but my guess is the quality of the boards may be less then desirable. Which doesn't mean anything, until it goes wrong. I am interested in your thoughts and I'll definitely be lurk'n here and there. I did ring the bell - Did you hear?
      What other Interface did you consider? I am working with the seller to get my 192 exchanged and or swapped out for another. What about the Quantum? Or Apollo Twin or Quad? Or the more expensive DSP heavy Descrete 8 aby Antelope? It's relatively the same prices as the Quantum/Studio 192. the expense is in the DSP extensions. Kind of like Native Instruments. Look forward to your next 192 Vid!!

      @@CreativeSauce - It would appear that PreSonus might have fixed the problems with a new release of the firmware/driver? Unfortunately I didn't wait around for that release. Because of the E issue I was able to get Sweetwater - US Online Distributor to take the device back. I ended up trading up to a MOTU 1248 - I didn't need 8 XLRs at one time and as it turns out most of my gear is 1/4" - It's a great device and for for my own personal taste it is manufactured (probably assembled) in the USA using top end components. Since it's done here in the States I trust the QA more because it is closer to me the consumer. Plus I can have my day to day audio interface set for 48kHz and open up a Session in StudioOne at 96kHz and there aren't any problems. The drivers do not have nearly the amount of bugs or quirks that I was able to find in the PreSonus. It may have been just a buggy device and it is unfortunate that PreSonus made me jump through so many hoops to prove that I had a defective device. Asking a user to format their computer and start at scratch really is asking a lot of a user. Keep up the good work!!

      I was disappointed to find out that they don't offer phone support for the Presonus 192. I had an issue and went back and forth for 3 weeks via email.

    Great video.. I use a 13 year old m-audio fasttrack....2 inputs, an output and a headphone out.. serves me well so far... Usb 1.1... old school! At least it doesn't require power!

    the combo jacks on the back, when using 1/4" trs are not MUSICAL INSTRUMENT but line level inputs. The Studio 192 instrument DI's are the two on the front.

    Can you use the other FatChannel plugins on the way in with the DSP built in? Doesn't look like it gives you the drop down menu for them while in the mixer.

    • @CreativeSauce
      @CreativeSauce  5 лет назад

      You get the option to either add them with the recorded signal, or only for monitoring. This includes compressor , eq, gate, and limiter. But weirdly you can't record the reverb or delay. It's not an issue for me, as I like to record dry, and add layer, but worth being aware of.

      @@CreativeSauce Sorry, I think I worded my question wrong. Studio one has other plugins for the Fat Channel besides the stock ones It is an upgrade called PreSonus Fat Channel Complete Collection Volume 1. Was wounder if those work in the DSP for 192. There should be a drop down menu so you can choose a different compressor or eq if you wish to do so to emulate a famous counsel.

    Thanks!
    Saw this while I await delivery. Have you noticed any further features added in S1 V4?

    • @CreativeSauce
      @CreativeSauce  5 лет назад +2

      Hey Jake. I just updated to S1 4.5 the other day. Some of the things they talk about in 4.5 like controlling the input gain and polarity were certainly there in v4. It's been one the most enjoyable aspects of using it.
      I'm not sure if it's a new thing or if I just didn't notice before, but it's great having control over the speakers (muting and switching) as well. Being able to do this from your DAW really improves workflow.
      Let me know how you get along with it!

    • @35milesoflead
      @35milesoflead 5 лет назад +1

      @@CreativeSauce That is part of the most recent update. It's been added very recently - so much so I haven't tested it properly. Been rocking a VSL44 for years and that doesn't support the advanced integration that the Studio 192 does in S1. I missed the vsl software which was decommissioned years back.
      I am running the faderport 16 control surface which is supposed to have an "input mode" function as well as "plugin mode". There is such tight integration with the hardware controller Vis-a-vis Fat Channel plugin control that I am of the belief that in native s1 mode I should be able to control the 192 inputs via the faderport while I'm tracking etc.
      Bit much for a comment section so I am planning a video exploring it all but the delivery time is lengthy. Why isn't it here yet!?!?!

    At this price point you are looking at a 24 track digital mixer with firewire output and built in FX. There is less than 500$ worth of hardware inside the 192, the price is just silly for being in 2020. My edirol Fa101 from 2005!! has 10 in/10 out with RTL of 6.8ms ( 500$ at that time). The reason why these companies are going with DSP is because they are using off the shelf hardware and are stuck with the latencies from their OEM's hardware. This is why RME is the king of low latency even going back 10 years to their PCI cards, they are like GO PRO which their locked in vendors for hardware ( RED company does this same thing for their Red Cinema cameras). Sticking with my Edirol F101 which is now 15 years old and still runs circles around these garbage USB interfaces that are a complete joke. Really waiting only for thunderbolt to come down, will not spend any money on USB.
