#LINE6HXSTOMPXL #LINE6 #HXSTOMPXL
I believe it's time to see Helix V2.
Smaller footprint. Touch screen. Bluetooth connection. More power.
Capture capabilities....
Line 6 is going to strike the market very hard.
But as long as the products sell, they are not going to get a new product out.......and that's the way the market goes.
Hi, yes...I do agree with you...
Thank you for your message!
My friend, its incredible how yours videos are decision-making for me. Thank again...
You are welcome and I'm really happy to have been of some help!!!
I'm from the future. I now have a hx stomp XXL+. I looks like a helix but it's much cooler.
:) very funny!!!
HAHAHA.
Who knew the LEGENDARY Ken Masters played guitar?? SICK 🔥🔥🔥
LOL
I think they should've made one with the same processing power as a full Helix and call it Helix MINI.
Very good idea, thank you for sharing!!!
Great video. Quadcortex and MG-30 are in my lane. I've been a long-term Line6 guy, but I think the Quadcortex is the future. God bless and rock on 😎🎸👍
Thank you! The QC seems promising...I'm crossing my fingers...
By just looking at it, obviously Line 6 should make a separate "XL module" that the HX Stomp can easily slide/snap into. All it needs to do is connect to the MIDI ports, and the Headphones output. This would make the Stomp ever more versatile - Stomp and HX Edit for desktop use, "XL Module" for floor use. Thanks
You are welcome! Thank you for sharing your opinoin!
This is actually definitely not the case. The way a midi controller works and the way the helix footswitches work are two very different things, the communication within the helix itself is 2 way, in midi it is 1 way only and not in sync. If you want an example simply take your midi controlled hxstomp and start making changes in the stomp’s blocks, turn them on and off and your midi controller will not know what is happening. There is no way to make an external foot controller with midi which will do this.
@@AlecBourneMidiMadScientist You have seen things like the XSonic Airstep, and the KG MIDI Controller, right?

I think Line 6 should do something similar for the HX Stomp that uses a nicer modular design/connection.
Thanks Leo for always giving us great information!!! Hmmmm, I wish they could have done SO much more with it because not many reasons to make one go out and have to buy it IMO...
Hi, thank you!!! Yes, I also think they could have done more...
Hi Leo! thank you for your review!.
One of the problems with Hx Stomp, Helix and many other pedalboards, is that, when using them just as a multieffects with an amp, they have a lot of hiss that make them unusuable when connected to an overdriven amp.
This is one thing that could have been improved, making a mix between Hx effects and Hx stomp with 2 modes:
MODE 1 just effects (no noise truebypass)
MODE 2 Amps-cab simulators (as is now).
It's true they will have to innovate (Line 6 , Boss...), many competence that on the other hand is just a benefice for us (mad guitarrist without much money) ....
Hi Jorge, thank you for sharing your opinion and experience...actually good idea about the true bypass...
Thank you!
What do you mean by hiss? It's noisy even with a noisegate on a high gain amp?
@@the_hippykiller22 Try before buying and compare the noise to a good truebypass pedal.IMO HX is a good standalone platform but not a good effects unit.
Don't wait and hope for dual ampero or dual stomp or whatever plastic sounding cortex..., just get ones Fractal and no more worries...
😊
Very good video... Maybe they are trying to put a product in each band of price. Myself, I still trying to get the most of a Boss GT-100 which in my opinion is very good and is very usable. I really don't think I need more power for now.
Your comments are very interesting. Thanks!
Thank you Antonio, I'm happy that you enjoyed the video!
Thank you also for sharing your opinion!
I hope when it comes out to sell we can find changes and new features than the actual information offered because with this information it doesn’t make sense at all to get the new XL
Hi Erick, thank you for sharing your opinion!
I think they should've made one with the same processing power as a full Helix and call it Helix MINI.
I wouldn't mind it getting a little bigger to fit the Helix's screen either.
I'd sell my LT and get it at a heart beat if they ever make one.
Yes, I do agree...
It's quite difficult to understand Line6 line of products. I purchased a HX Effects because I wanted something more compact than the Helix and didn't need all those amp emulations but then I got lost when the HX stomp came out: super compact and with amp emulation... Then came the HX stomp XL and now the HX One... As you said, it looks like Line6 are spending most of their efforts releasing the same product again and again (with more or less switches, snapshots or effects loop options).
Hi, thank you for sharing.
Yes...it would be nice to see something really new from Line 6.
As someone in the market for a new modeler I fully agree, I was hoping the XL would have a bit more internal processing power than the older HX Stomp and I would gladly eliminate two of those foot switches for more DSP. I think it would look better too. Does Boss or Line 6 ask actual users what they need or want? I'll tell them if they will listen. I'm not spending my money on any of this stuff. Currently I am hoping for an updated Ampero with dual signal paths. Wish on.
Hi David, thank you for sharing your opinion!!!
Well I've been looking for a long time for a really good modeller also, the crux ofthe issue for me being decent amp over drive sounds. I've had or tried these...
Pod. Pod farm, pod go, helix, ampero, vox tonelab, ua apollo with ua amp sims (diezel, marshall etc), but thanks to Leo's reviews i wound up buying a harley benton interface for my i pad. Here's where I finally got somewhere...
Mooer ge labs.. Really really good.. If I'd gotten this sound from the ax8 I tried to buy but the seller backed out, I would have been happy I think, never having played an axe fx in person.
It's really taken the pressure off, I was starting to think I'd never get a good tone.
I'd buy a mooer modeler, but I bet it wouldn't sound as good.. Any way hope this helps.. I broke a button on the interface, so I'm not recommending that, it's going back soon.. But you can hear all of the apps and effects with ge labs without paying.. You have to pay to save presets.
I'm not affiliated or anything.. Hope this helps
@@tomc5560, I'm in the same boat. Absolutely blown away with GE Labs profiling. Honestly, I sold my Helix LT after trying GE Labs. I don't like to much its simulations and effects (not bad, but not too good), but profiling... Whoa!
HI Tom, yes, sure it helps, thank you for sharing your opinion and experience. Hi Angel, yes...GE labs is pretty outstanding ... also considering that it is very very cheap...
Thank you!
@@dheranYT So I have to use a laptop every time I play? Can I add my own looper to the party? RXC500? I use it all the time.
Great video! very helpful Leo!!
Thank you, I'm super happy to have been of some help!
Nice one Leo. Thanks for sharing.#staysafe
You are welcome, I'm happy that you like the video!!!
I don’t want to defend line 6 because they certainly should be pushing forward with better technology but, as the saying goes if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. I agree that many boards now have equally good if not better models compared to helix and the hx line but, it doesn’t make me feel like my hx stomp is not worth using anymore. I love that it really is more focused toward pedalboard integration rather than just a stand alone unit. Now I woul not be saying the same if I was using something like a POD HD500x or a boss gt-100; those units were dwarfed by the new devices. These jumps now aren’t as staggering as they were when helix came into the scene, they just seem more incremental and quality of life rather than a huge jump in sound fidelity.
Hi Jose, thank you for sharing your opinion and experience!
Horses worked for a spell too Jose but a car is better.
I really enjoy your analysis videos. They are very good. I am enjoying the HX Stomp. I have the Quad Cortex as well, but find even with EQ settings that there is something sharp and harsh sounding to my ears. I have tried using the Low-High cut EQ but its still there.
Hi, thank you so much, I'm happy that you enjoy the videos!!!
Thank you also for sharing your experience with both the QC and the HX!!!
@@LeoGibsonGtr do you like the tone of the Quad Cortex or do you prefer another modeller ?
XL eliminated the need for a midi controller. Wish it had XLR outputs and IEC AC jack.
Hi, thank you for sharing
I was hopefull the XL would have more DSP power, but in this case it‘s not worth the higher price only for some Buttons!? With an Arduino you could build a MIDI Footswitch for 30 bucks.
Hi Frank, I laso hoped that it had more DSP power....
I think line 6 have done themselves no service, it would have been more healthy to wait a few months, release a new update.. I do not understand this product it seems to stand in opposition; to everything that is greAt about the stomp.... it’s size and it’s compatibility on modular pedal boards... if your not going to give us anything new... then make it smaller not bigger... I don’t want switches.... I want more stereo loops. Written this on a hundred comments sections now... got better things to do... line 6.... please blow my mind. I believe in you
Thank you Steve....I really understand your points...
Here in Japan ATM the difference in price between the 2 is only about $20.
Hx Stomp =73000¥
HX Stomp XL =71000¥
That's right, the Stomp XL is cheaper.
Hi, thank you for sharing...I didn't know...
Thank you! The latency is the same? Have a nice day!!!!
Hi, you are welcome! Actually I don't know, as I don't have the XL...I would say yes...but I'm not 100% sure
Thank you for your message!
$750 for old tech in half a new overcoat. Thanks Line 6 but I will pass!
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion!
With reference to your , 'best guitar audio interface', comparing the noise, processing power.etc.. what would be the best guitar interface between
Boss GT-1000 Guitar Effects Processor.
Fractal AX8. ...
Mooer GE200 Multi-Effects Pedal. ...
HeadRush Pedalboard. ...
Line 6
Eventide H9. ...
Zoom G5n.
Etc...
Yes,as midi controllers.
Hi, this is an interesting question...but I would need to study and to do a video in order to answer...thank you for your suggestion!
Thank you for posting this as I was thinking in the same sentiment. It's time for Line 6 to make a brand new unit that has bluetooth, a touchscreen, mic placement with on and off axis functionality including distances of the X,Y and Z axis's and ability to profile. Would be ok with them putting the Helix in the past as it's time. Thoughts?
Hi, well I totally agree...I also think that the mic placement is pretty poor and should be improved. As regards profiling, it would be cool, even if Line 6 and Fractal are not using profiling algorithms (as far as I know), so I think that they can make something like a frequency response matching function.
Thank you for sharing!
Think it would keep them up to standard now as The Neural DSP and even the Mooer GE300 is able to profile. It's like going to a barbeque restaurant and they hand you the marinated meat and let you cook it however you want. People could sell their profiles on Marketplace and see that being profitable on both Line 6 and creator. Opens up a whole new world for tone.
Correct information from line6 representative, picked up from line6 forum:
Here's the thing with HX Stomp XL's DSP:
Helix, Helix Rack, and Helix LT's 2 SHARCS are split between Paths 1A/1B and 2A/2B. This isn't arbitrary; the two processors can either be in series or with the right I/O routing, parallel. If you try to route back and forth multiple times, it increases latency to an unacceptable degree. Back in 2011, it took quite a while to figure out a simple and elegant way to distribute blocks and I/O across two DSPs (without ripping off Fractal's "amps on one DSP, effects on another," which is totally cool but would undermine our fully dynamic DSP goal), and it must've been successful, because another company lifted our implementation whole hog
There isn't a faster single SHARC in the same family that Helix/HX uses. Faster, newer families like Griffin would require a vastly altered architecture. So we're looking at either 1 DSP or 2 existing SHARCs with a Helix-like signal flow
A Helix-like signal flow in HX Stomp XL would require either completely redesigning and recoding the UI for that smaller screen (too small for a full Helix signal flow anyway), completely redesigning and recoding the UI for POD Go's screen (which is too big and way too much effort), picking/confirming/testing an all new screen (yeah, not gonna happen), or just use Helix's screen (which obviously kills the compact pedal form factor). For better or worse, HX products are designed specifically for pedalboards. They're supposed to be used with other pedals, and standalone operation is clearly a secondary use case... and it sells well because of this, not despite this
Mentioned this before, but there's no way HX Stomp XL would exist if it was any more difficult to design and develop, as it needed to be highly derivative to work within our 2020 R&D/development budget and resource scheduling. IIRC, I wrote HX Stomp XL's TRD (Technical Requirement Document) in a couple days-it was basically "Here's how every view, parameter, and value is different from HX Stomp, and here's how Pedal Edit should work on the smaller screen"-and our TRD review with the team was over in 30 minutes. By comparison, the original Helix's TRD took years to finalize and TRD reviews took many months
We also wanted HX Stomp XL (and another box) announced way back at NAMM 2020-long before 3.0's burly polyphonic pitchshifting oh so predictably altered the narrative, but y'know, COVID and other stupid crap happened. Work didn't slow down at all, but it certainly pivoted. The stupid thing is the optics make it appear as if all we've worked on over the past 12 months is... an HX Stomp... with extra switches. But that's such a tiny part of the story.
Ok its November 2021 and am thinking about getting Line 6 Stomp XL...should I wait till new tech comes out?
Hi, I would say ... if you need it...buy it, if you can wait...wait.
With this chip shortage even if Line 6 will produce a new pedalboard, it's gonna be hard to get it soon.
Thank you for your question!
Hi Leo!
Hope you are fine!
I dont agree when you say Gt-1000 its old. Its from 2018 whille Helix its from 2015.
Cheers from Portugal 🍺🤘🇵🇹
Hi, thank you for sharing! Let me say that in my opinion 3 years in the amp modeling word is not a small period. In these years a lot has happened and if you think at the PC word, processing power has increased a lot, and with more power we could have more refined algorithms.
Thank you for your message!
HX Stomp XL just needs an expression pedal & built in wireless like they gave to the Pod Go Wireless.
Hi, yes, all the additions are welcome!
I'm waiting for the NUX MG-30. I think that will fit my needs best. Looking forward to your review of it.
Thank you! We need to wait until the official launch, that should be the end of feb, beginning of march.
It can fit your budget limit but not sound needs
Both are $650 usd until june
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Line 6 should have discontinued the stomp and make this stomp v2... but money... I never could trust line 6 they have a product for every hundred dollar increase LOL.
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion! I also think that a v2 would have been more than welcome!
8 vs 5 blocks is a key difference, right?
Hi Jack, yes
Thank you for your question.
If Line6 and Boss remain inactive, the Chinese are going to eat their breakfast, lunch and dinner before long.
Hi, I do agree...we need them back...with new models...some innovation and not the same thing but in different format...
Thank you for your message!

Hi, thank you for sharing. In the comment section of one of my videos about the HX Stomp, someone wrote that it requires at max 1.4A
@@LeoGibsonGtr Sorry I was going off my Line 6 Pod Go. Why I did that I don't know, perhaps I thought they would be the same for some stupid reason.
