    The Lexus RC F is a car that says hell no to downsizing and hell yes to mad styling and addictive V8 noise. It's for these reasons that you simply must see this car in action!

    I rather have this over the new M4 or C63 without thinking twice, I don't care if your turbocharged engine makes more torque or if your Benz/BMW is half of a second faster on the 0-60, I won't drive 10/10 and most people won't too. I want the natural V8 noise and the experience, I want a car that's different from the others, I want something that feels special. Thanks Lexus for hearing the least.

    I love how torque didn't matter with the e92 M3, which didn't even have 300 lb/ft but now that the m4 has a lot its sacrilege to not have a ton of low end torque.

    • @EngineeringExplained
      @EngineeringExplained 9 лет назад +14

      It's possible that it may be a bit more pronounced on the RCF, if it's having to change between Atkinson to Otto once you stomp on the gas, especially if at lower RPM. I think it's cool tech though, you're not always racing (maybe?) so why not save some fuel on your road trip.

    • @ethownzbh
      @ethownzbh 9 лет назад

      You could forgive what it lacked in torque for what it made up in redline.

    • @Kaisuke971
      @Kaisuke971 9 лет назад +3

      You know why it matters now for this car ? Because by today's standard everything is not enough. The weight is not down enough, the power is not enough (RS5 has same power figures, and it's a bit of an "old" car ), it doesn't rev (the M4 revs higher, come on) and the whole car is not fast enough in my opinion.
      It should have been like 500hp like the C63 507, or turbo like the new C63, the RS4, and the M3/M4.
      The M4 is eating it, and the new C63 AMG Coupe will eat it aswell (let's not even talk about the S).

    • @ivannosic9570
      @ivannosic9570 9 лет назад

      Kaisuke971 we are leaving in a society (whole world?) of "never is enough"! directly related to the "mass consumption" shit of living in "modern" society... :-S P.S: Iwould LOVE to see M3 CSL as Sport again in some posible future... :-D

    • @Kaisuke971
      @Kaisuke971 9 лет назад

      Ivan Nosic I don't know why but even if i love those F Lexus, they feel wrong. Look at that exhaust on the IS F. It was completely fake ! And that's wrong !
      And now the RC F wants to value it's NA V8 but it forgot how to rev ! And how to power ! This thing almost forgot how to engine, come on !
      M2 is the new M3, basically, like the 1M was. Maybe we'll see something like an M2 CSL, because some people have spy shot a strange M2 prototype, which seems to be a bit more focused.
      Btw the M4 "GTS" or whatever it will be called will come for sure.

    I was just chatting with my friend (who's looking at buying one of these) when I realized oh shoot, I'm in a video review of it that was just posted! I think you hit many of his concerns, the gearbox being the biggest one. Great review!

    • @JohnSmithExtra
      @JohnSmithExtra 9 лет назад +14

      You do realize that the driver was in the wrong gear in manual mode at 55mph, it was his fault he was that far up anyway. If he's putting around at 55, might as well set it to automatic mode, it will downshift way faster if he's trying to pass a bus. Manual mode is awesome if you know when and how to use it. The automatic mode is awesome for the same reasons. TVD was not even mentioned, it makes the car feel like a mid-engine in turns..

    • @i0001w
      @i0001w 9 лет назад +2

      John Smith They just made a not real senior so they can say bad thing about it, and in reality AUTOMATIC will shift in less than 150 millisecond

    Better than how Jeremy explained it in top gear honestly. The rc f isn't that bad. I get how "oh the m3/m4 is better it's faster it has more torque it looks better etc." but like to me, the bmw lost its charm for some reason. Yeah the straight 6 is bang on but idk to me it's just not the same anymore. The E46 was good too but with the new M3/M4, it's just different somehow. I saw someone said the bmw is overrated and honestly I agree with that

    The biggest difference between Top Gear and Car Throttle is Car Throttle has basically nothing negative to say about a car, ever. Because the Top Gear boys have driven sooo many awesome cars they are willing to point out weaknesses, but for guys like Alex here, driving these wildly expensive and fast cars is still a fairly new thing, so he thinks and says they're all amazing.

      The BMW M4 is 400Kg lighter than the RC F and has more power, yet the M4 is only a few seconds quicker, and also the interior and exterior is way better. Most BMW's look similar with different body types.

    Good review! This car seems like a good alternative to the Germans, and will be more exclusive which is one plus point. The N/A V8 is a really great engine, and a beautiful interior bar the slightly cheap centre console. Exterior wise this is a car you'd have to see in the flesh to really decide whether you like or not, personally I think the old IS-F was and still is a fantastic looking car.

    Why are people saying this car "forgot how to rev"? it goes up to 7,300... in a V8.... a lot of V6's only do 6,800 - 7,500 depending on which engine and a lot of the other V8's didn't hit 7,000. I think this would make a great every day road car. Not everyone goes to their track with their daily driver so I can imagine this is probably up there with the others in that respect. The only place this falls short is if you were to take it to track and maybe (and I suppose this is a matter of opinion) the over use of plastics in the cabin. I think it's a great alternative, yes maybe they need to cut 200kg's or lb's or whatever but not everyone is trying to be Lotus lol!

    how can you change from Otto cycle to Atkinson cycle while driving the car??
    and why would someone care about fuel efficiency in a car like that??
    I mean you just cant get too much mpg's from a 5 liter v8 can you??
    question for engineering explained

      Well, I know some (if not all) models of the C7 corvette have cylinder deactivation which allows for almost 30mpg. And that's a big Murican V8!

      As for the cycles switch, it's probably some high tech computer wizardry from another dimension. Lexus must have sent Jason Statham, Jet Li, and Matt Damon to get the blueprints from a futuristic military compound in the year 2057. That's why it's 60,000 pounds. I can't think of any other reason why it would be.

      It's a crossplane crank

      CerraKG oh, then, round of applause for lexus engineer for trying to make it rev high. They did a good job.

    In these exhaust display attempts why don't they give it a give 1 second bounce off the rev limiter? You know that's what really opens eyes...

    I appreciate what Lexus is doing and it's what Audi should do with their upcoming line up, if BMW and Mercedes went soft and gave up on the V8 that people loved it's the perfect time to put a V8 on their car and try to pick up some Mercedes and BMW consumers from the M4 and C63.
    These companies needs CEOs with more balls honestly.

    The only thing I don't like about that car are the headlights, and I really don't like them. Otherwise it's a really cool looking and nice sounding car.

    Auto manufactures need to either put in a really great automatic or have an option for a manual. I bet a stickshift would eliminate any gripes with this car (except for the weird face and cheap looking center console)

    I would take a Lexus! The reason why I would take it because its good ass reliability! My moms friend have '94 Lexus LS and it has 847k Miles and still running like a champ! It may have its battle scars and paint worn off lol but that shit don't give up!

    • @ABlongboarders

      I understand that reliability is a priority but is anybody going to take it to such an extreme like that? Only in very rare cases. If you can afford a 60k msrp car (Likely 75+ with options) you can afford to buy a new car and maintain it before getting to anywhere near 800k miles let alone 200k. When it comes down to it Id most likely buy the BMW for the better looks, better handling feel, and the better transmission. Its all opinion though and dependent on what you prioritize in your car.

    If I had to choose between this and the M4 I would take this hands down. I can't stand that fake noise that M4 makes. I could not live with that easy solution
